At 4:20 he says this because in rudy's past life he was stripped naked in front of the whole class and then hung up as you saw in the flashback. Him accusing the teacher of doing it to Norn was basically rudy thinking the same thing happened again.
That whole classroom scene really shows how deep the scars are and how on demon time he was ready to be if it was a repeat
Now if only Rudy has energy of a quiet kid this anime wouldn't be an isekai but instead a psychological anime 🗿

To Sheera’s point in the beginning. It’s not just about school, it’s about their whole life. Aisha had always had to bust her ass to get half she acknowledgement Norn got for doing nothing. And she thought finally she wouldn’t have to worry about it at her brothers home. Imagine how she was treated at Norns Grandparents place. They would obviously belittle her. This episode explains a lot of what Norn went through but they are both valid in their feelings. It’s hella complicated lol

Lillia is mostly to blame too because she has reinforced the idea that Norn is more important as a legitimate child than Aisha. Claire Latrea only made things that much worse because she's legitimately cruel.
I personally agree with Aisha because Norn is spoiled af. Paul purposely spoiled and coddled her due to the displacement and it diminished her potential

@@dewaabiyyu761 Claire is Norn's Grandma. We get to her far later in the story but the main thing is she is not fond of Aisha and frequently said to Norn "How can you be worse than that illegitimate child" and such.
A fun little fact: the word for "Older brother" used in the title of this episode is 兄貴 Aniki, which is rather casual, even impolite, and is usually used by men. So while you would think that title refers to Norn, considering we get her POV this episode, it's actually about Rudy remembering his older brother.

One of my favorite things about Japanese has to be how there's multiple words for different meanings, since it leads to things like this.

I think the double-meaning is intentional, so the episode title would be better translated as "An Older Brother's Feelings" - referring to Rudeus's older brother from his past life, as well as his own position as an older brother in this life.
Am I mistaken or was it not, in the olden days, used by siblings in noble families to refer to the first/head son of the household, essentially being a title of respect? Or am I thinking of another word? Seems like an appropriate way to refer to Rudy in a fantasy setting (at least by the end of the episode).

Norn also was afraid that Rudeus would beat her. After she saw how he beat Paul, and she come to Rudeus house she constantly was afraid that he would beat her aswell.

Few things left out to understand Norn more :
-Lillia, Norn and Aisha went to Rudeus's Mothers place. Her family are REALLY religious so they treated real bad Aisha and Lillia, besides Norn was compared a lot with Aisha so she generated a complex inferiority.
-First impressions matter, so Norn's first impression of Rudy was him beating their father, so she also developed an extreme fear of Rudy. She thought that Rudy was a menace that punched everybody so she couldn't understand why everyone was talking so good about him.
Norn also used to think that everyone hate her (because complex inferiority), so with all of that in her mind yeah she practically said nope I don't wanna go out. Also when Rudy came in to the dorm she thought he was gonna beat her.

Mushoku is just one of those rare animes that's able to invoke so much emotion
Yeah, I was like, "they made me cry so easily yet again."
Fr ... Like every time the show has an emotional scene , YOU are emotional and sad even if you don't cry , it really does that well
It's one of the few anime, especially in the isekai genre, that let's itself just show sincere authentic emotion rather than treating the world like a video game with no stakes.
The greatest part about this episode in my eyes is Rudeus being extremely proud of Norn and almost looking up to her.
Here is this 10 year old girl going through a similar type of depression and fear of the world that dominated 20+ years of Rudeus's previous life.
Yet Norn was able to work out her own feelings (with Rudeus's help even if he doesn't know it). Come to terms with her feelings and change her mind about her brother and her feelings towards him. And take the steps to move forward. To leave her room. To start being happy with herself again.
Something Rudeus doesnt feel like he could have ever done. And for that he's extremely proud of her and sees her as an incredible person.
As an Older brother myself, its a wild feeling to see your siblings surpass you and do things you know you yourself could not do. And i am so damn proud of my brother for what he has accomplished.
This episode hella connected with me. Im glad i could see older sibling feelings done justice in this incredible anime.
Episode title is amazing as well as initially you think it will be just about Norn getting to understand Rudeus, but it also ends up in our MC understanding his own brothers feelings from way back.
This episode really connects with us older brothers. This shit made me cry man.

If I was that teacher, I would be confused and flabbergasted in that scenario; a student just barged in the room, interrupted her class, gave out death glares at her students with the intent to do harm, and made wild assumptions regarding the situation towards the students and her, to which she had no context onto why he would jump to those conclusions.
And consider that this is a student that can kill almost any student or faculty with a gesture.

I can’t imagine anyone who’s a fan of MT disliking this episode. Not because it’s perfect or the best MT episode ever, but because it’s content reflect the entire purpose of this story so well that you can’t help but like it

they handled this episode really well, showing us just how TRULY Rudy cares about his family in this life. he might be bad with emotions still, but he is genuinely trying his hardest to keep his family together and happy as much as he knows how.
also the reason Rudy brought up being stripped naked in front of everyone is because his teachers in HIS past life let that fly when he was getting bullied, so he kinda has every right to assume it would be something that could happen here as well. its a weird thing to think, but he's reliving a lot of trauma right now so i dont blame him for jumping immediately to the worst scenario in a panic

It's great that others are seeing the FMA in this. I'm pretty sure FMA was one of the works that inspired the author. Hell, my mind started casting voice talent from the series when I was reading the web novel.

I think what kinda like struck a cord in my heart. Was the end of the episode where he thanks his older brother:m. And that sadness knowing that his older brother was never truly able to know or see his younger brother flourish. I guess as someone with a brother. It made me feel a type of way.

8:27 - It's not just "expectations set high" - Norn both hated Rudeus and was afraid of him, and seeing how everyone else around her kept praising him constantly (which further fuelled her anger and anxiety - "why is everyone praising this horrible person!?") she developed a further fear that if Rudeus was to hit her or kick her out or just do something horrible, etc, then nobody would take her side because she's "a nobody" while he's "loved by everyone". Hence the power in her realization of "my brother won't hit me".

This episode was probably my favourite in terms of development for both Norn and Rudeus allowing both of them to close a chapter on their pasts.
Norns POV is 10x more sad in the light novel when you get all the context of how she was treated/talked to by her grandmother when her and Aisha lived with her for a bit in Millis while Paul looked for their mother. Aisha had it really bad too.
Guys what rudeus said in the class when he was questioning them... he was projecting. all of these things happened to him in the past.
Remember, Rudeus was describing what his bullies did to him in his past life.
I love how everyone has the same reaction when they see the title for the next episode.

In the manga people would compare her to her sister too and be like how much more talented or smarter she was than her. So in school it was now everyone comparing her to her brother and saying how great he was. So she was dealing with the same thing again. Also she was afraid of Rudy cuz how she first met him beating up their father so she thought if she messed up or made him upset he would hit her. That's why she wanted to be in the dorms cuz she was afraid of him.
The other sister would always try to prove she was good enough cuz the grandmother looked down her for being a concubines daughter basically. They both had it rough in their own ways

Turning Point 1 is the Teleportation disaster, Turning Point 2 is when Orsted, the Dragon God kills Rudy, and then revives him after Nanahoshi asked for him to do it. This one isn't going to be as insane of a moment, but what it leads to is something incredible.
