Part two of our Colorado trip. I go a little more in depth with metering, hiking with the Pentax, and Portra 800 light leaks. Enjoy!

Nice shirt
That intro is all too relatable 😂
Dude it’s the worst. Bout to hire a voice over guy
Bryan Birks the guy from Moviefone needs work
Lovely... especially the part where you show human connection with your partner
Bryan Burks I really enjoy your content man. Very inspiring. It’s not flashy or showy or fake. It’s real and you give a little insight to the good time you and your gf have. At the end of the day, it’s about having a good time and not necessarily getting the perfect shot
Man, I did NOT buy a ticket for this feels train. Gorgeous shots. Good music choice. Great stuff man.
Haha the feels train gets everyone. No escaping 😂
Kinda love those underexposed portra 800 shoots. Very nostalgic x very analog feeling
The portrait at 9:20 was incredible. Great video and photos, thank you!
Thank you! Not too bad for light leaks galore.
6x7 film is a thing of magic
Another incredible video. Well done.
Thank you!
Your intro was truly how we all feel when trying to make our intros! Great images! I wish I still had my Pentax6X7 but it just stopped working after owning it for 3 plus years!
good stuff , a realistic trip with a film camera , some great shot , some ruined shots , some learning and some frustrations ... :D . we all have these trips ....ps very nice choice of music , sets a nice mood ..
I really love the scene at 10:56, that is so sweet! 🥰
Girlfriend's idea :)
love the overall vibe of the video. I found your channel while I was looking for new content for my film channel as well. your videos are very inspirational and I will go out and shoot tomorrow!!
Happy that it could inspire you. :)
Nice edit man... it's pretty obvious that tris trip meant a lot to you and you handled this video with care.
Great video all together man! Really enjoying these!
Appreciate it man!
If you follow Willem Verbeeck's channel the way he loads his 120 is so consistent. He loads away from his body, not across his body, brilliant.
As for the shots, don't be so hard on yourself , many of the images are classic. The shots of your girlfriend and shots towards the last half of the video are really nice.
Oh and dancing on the beach is always good! :-)
Hell yeah. Tons of great shots here. Well done dude!
Thanks my guy 💪🏻
Love the intro. feel like thats me every time. Bravo man.
Speech is hard. Haha
I've been shooting with the 6x7 for many years and I found the best way to load film is to sit down and squeeze the camera between your legs while loading.
I really enjoyed this video sir! It looks like you and your girl had a memorable time. Thanks for sharing. I find it easier for me to load my 67 when I make sure the take up spool hole is pointed straight up. If the take up spool hole isn’t pointed straight up wind a few times until it is before loading. I insert the film all the way to the crease and then press the film holding it on the take up spool hole while i slowly wind to the start line. Your pictures still look great even with the light leaks!
Yeah I definitely need to practice a bit more. I'll get it eventually!
good stuff my man
Thank you!
That shot at 10:32 is award winning,
Thank you!
some beautiful shots!
Thank you!
I'm using 67 too. But totally different from me lol. Nice video and nice shots 👍🏻👍🏻
Love it!
love that lily pad shot. also that shot of Emma on the couch kinda reminds me of alec soth's work!
High praise. Thanks man 🤘🏻
Love the video brother!
Thanks Graeme!
First 30 sec is me preparing to say “present” on my online class
Haha true
Shot on 9.20 is so sweet. Cheers
That sharpness though. Ooof.
Bunch of cuties at the end.
We try ☺️
said this on another channel, b role on trips has to be on super 8 ... and thats compulsary for film shooters !!! :D
The intro kept here 😁😁😂😂😂😂😂
might try gaff taping over the door seals as a temp fix on the Pentax
Hey my guy, just found your channel and loving it. What did you use to film the Broll footage in colorado? Lovely colors and exposure
Thanks! Part A7s II and part iPhone 11. Haha
get yourself a neck strap and use the two side strap lugs. it'll help with loading the film. all you have to do is flip the camera around and flip open the door. just a fyi. also, the strap for the Mamiya RZ would work perfectly.
Oh yes, I get that intro!
Hahah every time for me.
I tried liking the video 3 times
Much appreciated!
I was so confused by the intro... felt like I was lost somewhere in the video 😂 I get the struggle, but don't stress it..
I'm surprisingly getting better. lmao
Hey , beautiful color photos. Were those landscapes taken with the 55mm f4? 45mm ?
55mm!
What’s the music you used Bryan? I love the look you get with the 67.
Really nice video, you’ve got a great eye for your compositions
Appreciate it Robert!
I have to ask - where is that lake in Colorado? I am planning on moving that direction in the new year but I grew up around water and sailing and must know where that is!
It’s been a bit but I believe it’s the Dillon Reservoir and the lookout was the Sapphire Point Overlook. We stayed in Silverthorne and visited Frisco. Very nice area and has a small town feel.
I would question the issue being Pentax 67 light meters in general. I shoot slide film with the built in meter on mine all the time with no issues (adjusting up or down as needed for challenging/unbalanced scenes of course). Seems more likely that if you adjusted for images with a dark or light balance that it is YOUR Pentax light meter. Perhaps you might want to look into a CLA if you intend on using your meter. LeZot's used to work on Pentax. Not sure any more. Looks like it was a nice trip.
Yeah I'll probably look into a CLA soon but for now will just use an external light meter!
If i was loading Film into my Pentax 67 i try to sit down on the ground or a stone or something like that and put the lens between my legs! Now the Camera is fixed an i can load film with both Hands.
Maybe its helpfull for you?!
Thank you for another awesome Video! I really enjoy it and like your stuff as well!
Cheers from Germany🤘🏻
Yeah I’m definitely still getting used to it! First trip taking it out for more than one roll. Getting the hang of it!
That Pentax lens is sweet!
The shot at 7:34 was at the min. 1m focusing distance?
That was actually with the extension tube #1!
Love your videos. Where did you get the right hand grip? Did it come with the Pentax or did you buy it separately?
Thanks! It came off eBay separately. It’s just 3D printed!
@@BryanBirks Thanks!
How do you find the RB67 versus the Pentax? Do you feel one of them is obsolete or do you find they both have a place, although they’re both 67?
I just bumped into your channel today and glad I did. As a pentax67 owner I really love your content and level of photography and level of production. Waiting anxiously to more content! Keep it up!
Definitely both have a place but if I were primarily taking portraits I would choose the Pentax 67. Especially with outdoor portraits. 1/1000 shutter. The 105 2.4 or the 90 2.8 are great lenses that will give you a distinct look.
Hey I hope this isn't the dumbest question ever, but why did the sprocket scans have white semi-circles clipped form the edges? Is there some sort of personal info stored on the negs? Cheers.
Those are just quarters that I used to keep it flat. Haha
Bryan Birks haha, ok cheers 🍻
Were you shooting the Portra 400 wide open or had to use the 160?
Shot it wide open mostly but it was getting to be sunset so it wasn’t a problem. I shot 75% Portra 160 the whole time.
Don't beat yourself up over the blown photographs. You could have bought a centre spot filter and got a similar effect. I thought they looked beautiful!
Yeah not that big of deal for sure. Luckily my girlfriend was taking photos on the trusty iPhone and they looked much better. Haha
Looks like the film advance is slipping. Either the clutch is bad or the filmholder is to tight. You should check that out. /T p.s Nice video and shots. d.s
Is there a way to fix this. I feel like mine is slipping a bit when I try to load it.
@@TonyWodarck Repair place I guess. Have not googled it yet...
What lens did you use on this trip?
105mm and some with the 55mm f/4.
@@BryanBirks thx mate :)
8:20 I noticed I’ll get all 10 shots when I load it by holding down the tip of the film and slowly advancing the film. When I don’t I get like 7 for some reason.
Sounds like a spacing issue. Might want to have it checked out! I realized that mine I have to start the line of the film a little bit before the start arrow on the back.
Nice! Just out of curiosity, anyone here who has ever used the extension tubes on the Pentax 67?
I’ve used #1. It’s great for tight portraits with the 105mm.
Now you know why older photographers in mid 80's looked with contempt at camera manufacturers who was pushing plastic as a main build material for cameras instead of metal. I was a kid at the time and didn't care. Until I broke the camera for the first time. Which was of course made of plastic. Since than I despise plastic cameras.
Since mid 2000's manufacturers are finally using metal agin, at least for mid and high end models. Let's see how long all those electronics inside will last...
The light leak on the shot at 8:39 is kind of super nice, look like it is surrounding your gf
Yeah that one didn't turn out too bad!
2:37 you have massive judder in your panning.
Crazy.
@@BryanBirks do you know the cause ?
Probably my ineptitude to hold a camera.
@@BryanBirks i dont think so. maybe its my 60hz monitor, and your recorded framerate is not suited for this timeline. you shoot 24p ? you should try next time 30p in camera & 60fps timeline in video editor. hope it helps. thank you for your work, you make extreamly good content, i bought 105mm 2.4 6x7 lens because of You. you are my hero on youtube.
