RIP to the Hardcore Legend that is Terry Funk . Been a fan of his ever since his feud with Junkyard Dog and Hulk Hogan in WWF to his feud with Ric Flair in the NWA to his wars with Cactus Jack and Atsushi Onita in Japan to his wars in ECW and becoming ECW World Champion to the Chainsaw Charlie gimmick in WWF . Terry is a true legend of the sport that is truly worthy of that moniker . Respect and RIP to him .
Terry truly is a lost treasure. I ran into Terry numerous times here in Amarillo, and he was a great guy. He didn't know a stranger, and he treated everyone like an old friend. He was very funny, polite, and considerate. I first met Terry back around 1967 in Montgomery Wards. He and Vickie were a young couple and Terry was pushing a baby stroller. Through the years I would run into him, and even though he didn't really know me, he always acted like he did and our conversations would last upwards of 15 minutes sometimes. Years ago I was standing in line at a grocery store, and some jerk bumped my heel with his grocery basket. After about the third time, I whipped around and it was Terry with a sh!t eating grin on his face. I have so many great memories of Terry, not only as a wrestler and actor, but just simply as a local guy that (again) didn't know a stranger. Unfortunately the last time I saw Terry was in 2013. He was already having a hard time walking, but was still just as friendly and funny as ever. I will miss him. Amarillo will miss him. America will miss him. RIP Terry.
Terry was a tough one to fight with,.,. he in his early days was a quite a force to deal with.. he and his tag partner Dory, I seen them many times,.. as he got older. he was still kicking tail and taking names!!! long live the legend!!!
Great worker, actor and world class athlete. Thank you Terry Funk.
