Guides like this should start with a warning!! Make sure you record where each screw comes from, and where they should return to! The screws vary in length, and if you put a long screw into a shorter hole, it will go down too far and damage the circuit board immediately below. Apple does this to hamper phone repairs.
Thank you! I was able to flawlessly switch out the battery in my daughters phone thanks to your video!!!! Well done, amazingly thorough and decisive instructions! Thanks again!
I just had my battery replaced today and an apple certified place in Canada, and I’m curious about the waterproof seal is that the blue tape that somehow applied a waterproof bead around the phone or?
This made up my mind. I thought about changing it myself. I'm not cheap, I just like to fix things. First I really don't want to buy brain surgery screwdrivers. Maybe if i had a need in the future. Now having just turned 67 I have gotten along just fine without them. Add in the not so steady hands. I believe I'll just watch the young man install it. If he lets me. Very well done and very understandable narration. Subscribed and a thumbs up.
2:49 I accidentally scraped that black stuff under the battery a little bit. So its like a 5x5mm or a lil smaller scrape mark on the black ”film” thing... Will that affect the phone? Or will it work anyway?
IPA is way too common in the US and it totally doesn't work. It's way too hoppy and tastes like green marijuana to me. Some people have no taste, especially Americans. If you're gonna drink beer, try a Hefeweizen or other wheat beer but avoid the Widmere brand, you'll be disappointed. That crap should be banned. But the wheat beers, there's a reason they are gold in color. There's also some excellent amber ales out there, one that's not too hard to find, Fat Tire Amber Ale is outstanding. If you are an ale drinker, another fine choice is Blue Moon pale ale. IPA is pretty much the white trash of micro or regional brews. They just club you to death with hops, you may as well drink some unleaded regular, that's how your mouth feels afterwards. Maybe some day this disgusting fad will pass.
So this was WAY more informative than others... and shows the actual install... It's a lot of work. But you made it look easy (and I know it's not). Sharing is caring!!! xxx/ooo 👍
yes thanks you made it look easy but my clumsyness and first go took a lot longer and i cant be sure the seal whent totaly to plan but i did it with yours and others help , you get the thanks as you did the seal bit as well unlike most others so many thanks for your time and help for a first timer 🙂cheers
Very excellent video, much appreciated to replace the battery in my phone. What I can’t find is the first seal/ adhesive that is put in before the battery and seals the surrounding edges of my phone. I can find the two strips but not the bigger seal. Could you please tell me if that seal has a particular part name or number? Cheers Yvonne. Ps I am 70 soon do quite impressed with myself as now my phone still works 😊👏👏👏
Don't be fooled by this video. This is a very cavalier crash course guide. It's a very delicate job and can take several hours if the adhesive strips put up a fight. Cover your screen with something to protect it from scratches. Don't lose the screws and remember which ones go where. The adhesive strips under the battery are a bastard. They won't come out nice and easy. Apple made sure of that. Alcohol makes it more difficult to scrap them out clean. Warm the bottom of the phone instead. Clean with alcohol after you get the pieces out. Connect the battery ribbon cable and install the battery before you put the screen adhesive sheet on. Be very careful and take your time positioning the screen adhesive sheet. You'll only get one shot at getting it perfect. When reconnecting the ribbon cables, be gentle but make sure they're connected properly. You'll feel a positive click and check they're fully engaged by pushing down on both sides with the plastic tool. The little screws don't like to stay on magnetic screwdriver bits very well. Position them with tweezers first. When starting them, it's always a good idea to turn them counter clockwise a turn or two before turning them clockwise to ensure you don't cross thread them. Before you set the screen and close up the phone, test it. Make sure it powers up, and that the home button and front camera work.
You are 100% right! I did my battery replacement yesterday and as you said the remaining adhesive was pain in the ass to remove it took me good an hour to remove!!! And battery placement mistake I did as shown in this video, what a hassle!!! Because of that I couldn’t connect the battery so I have to remove the battery again and I end up using normal sticky tape!!! Now my home button doesn’t work properly, I can unlock the phone with finger print, but I can’t go back to main screen and the vibration don’t work on this button anymore. I really regret this, I’d rather to pay £70 to Apple to get battery replacement then experience that hassle!!! Is not worth it!!!
Yeah, all kits are a little different. Mine came with a BFH to separate the screen. The BFH was a lot quicker than the suction cup. Did your kit include the hair dryer for that? Assuming your kit was "tools included", it should have had the hair dryer.
@@Karen-s5s nope - had to do a little digging to find one. ------------ As long as you are here, I made several mistakes. first, because it was covered up in the video with paper I unscrewed a part that did not need unscrewing in the process. After putting it back I started on those Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie screws. I used a magnifier that one wears on one's head. It helped immensely. then I had a separate container for each part and screws I removed to make it easier to reassemble. The big mistake is a single bracket that has several different screws. Good video. However I was not using isopropyl but ethanol and in the end noticed some lens fogging on the camera despite drying up the phone with the hairdryer before closing.
