I dont get options on delivery service
This is so helpful, I've been trying to plan my pricing and haven't been able to understand what options etsy provides.
I’m so glad!! I was struggling in the beginning to get my costs down, and this was such a great solution for me too!
I had issues sending mail this way, so I asked and was told by USPS themselves that bar code means absolutely nothing to them. They NEVER scan them. They just throw these in a bin and send them to the sorting facility. If it gets lost, there is nothing you can do. You CAN track the envelope with Pitney Bowes, but it does no good if the envelope isn't scanned at the sorting facility, which is rarely ever.
That's the issue with this method. I promise you I've been searching for over two years trying to find a way to ship letters with tracking (I sell full time as a business), but there just isn't any. The only real way is a First Class Package which is now around $4-$5.
@@myst93 Same here. I recently added the option for customers to choose whether they want to pay extra for tracking. They've been choosing the tracking option which is great for me as a seller just in case the envelopes get lost.
@@jojososo7994 Did you just make a separate listing for Tracking? I'm a new seller and I am having such a hard time with this. I dropped off an order at the post office today and spoke with the counter clerk. She confirmed the same. There is NO scanning for my type of letter at all. Ever. I would have to pay almost $4 more to add tracking to it. So should I just create a listing for it and explain what it is? I'm just scared I'll get someone who makes an order, knowing there wont be tracking, and then file a claim with Etsy so they can get a refund and get free stuff. I'm a partial digital shop, I may just get rid of my physical listings and stay all digital. This is all a big headache.
@Sincerely Roxy I just give a quick explanation in the listing description that in order to give the best price, the item is shipped without tracking, but there is an option available if they want to add it. What I do is add a drop-down that includes an option to select NO tracking or Add Tracking. No tracking is the normal price, and I charge more for tracking. There are quite a few people who have chosen tracking. Hope this helps.
@@joannarsolano I forgot about the drop down. I just confirmed with another seller I made a purchase from that if it’s not a package, there’s no tracking for it. Which sucks. I’d prefer to have the tracking so not only does the customer feel better, so do I. But I do like the idea of the drop down as well. I’ll have to think about it and see what I feel is best. But I appreciate your reply! I thank you for all your information! It definitely did help! I’m gonna see if I can find your shop! 😁

What did you set as your shipping options? I see this as the printing option but beforehand what do you have shown as shipping costs on the listings?

Here's the thing tho:
A- That "etsy" tracking is hit or miss and confuses customers that it isnt an offical usps tracking #
B- (most important) Some Postal workers reject this etsy postage because it prints out postage for .51 cents even tho you paid .55 (regular required stamp price) on the etsy website....ive discussed this .04 cent difference multiple times with usps but it really comes down to the worker touching the mail.
C- I think a big part if how strict your processing hub is, cause the scan tracking provided always seems to fail at mine when it does not the local post office.
These are all good points. I have never had any issues, though!
@@DesignsWithLiv Overall it’s still worth the 55 cents and it’s better than nothing tracking (cept if they claim they didn’t get when it miss tracks) but ultimately I have an issue less than 10 percent of the time after over a year of using on around 500 letters. But still compared to cost of real 1st class tracking I saved a ton even after cost of fixing orders.
I think it’s all about the hub.

Are you still able to do this? I have a nit picky post lady that wont accept these. tries to tell me my envelopes that are 4 by 6 need 99 cent postage. Very irritating.

when you send the mail did you ever get the tracking? I took it to the post office but they didnt scan it so the order doesnt have tracking...what am I supposed to tell the post office ?

How do you ship your stickers internationally?
Im very curious how much you spend on packing/shipping supplies. Im pinching pennies when it comes to selling on etsy because of fees. 55 cent, doesnt seem like much over all but can it be recouped in sticker sales?
But i guess the etsy label saves you on labels and postage? Does buying the label equate to a stamp?
Yes - buying the label means you don't have to buy stamps so you're not really wasting/saving money.. just using a label instead of a stamp. I buy a bulk pack of envelopes and use the labels and it's a very cheap way to ship, you don't need anything fancy or bubble envelopes.

So whats the biggest I can go with “ letter” option , meaning how big the envelope must be and also what is the heaviest I can go before turning in to a package
Since it's a sticker in a small envelope with tracking, do you have to take it to a post office for process ing it? I am new at tracking or is it safe to put it in a mail bin? I would assume you could put it in a mail bin if you have like three orders. And then Id you have fifty sticker envelopes, then it's better to take it to a postal office and drop off?
Yep! I usually just put mine in the mailbox!

Does this also work with International shipping?
Have you tried to do this with a polymailer or just pwe? I want to ship 3d flowers that's still under 1/4" but it won't work with pwe only in a polymailer.

That’s weird! I’m honestly not sure what’s going on there. I would reach out to Etsy support if it’s forcing you to purchase 2 labels!

I'm not sure if this is the case for you, but I had to wait until I had an order to create the label and save it as a preset!
Hi, when I send these, the post office often loses them and when confronted they don't recognize this digital stamp or tracking :( I can't find anywhere on Etsy about this.
Girl I am having the same issue! They never scan it at my local post office! The counter clerk told me today that I'd have to pay an additional $4 just to add tracking! Etsy's Help Center page is NO help at all. It even states that a tracking number is generated when you buy the shipping label through Etsy. But that's a lie. I have an order from over two weeks ago that was delivered, and in my Orders tab it still says pre-transit. Etsy is lying.
@@SincerelyRoxy Yes.... I have about three orders that have been delivered. I shipped the stickers as a flat and it still says that the package is in transit. My customers can't leave a review because of this. Its frustrating.

So I learned something about this! You have to get a shipping label as a package. Not a letter or flat. There won’t be any tracking info for letter or flat. It’ll stay in pre transit forever. So now I just let Etsy charge the shipping and if they overcharge the customer I refund the overage. Hope that helps!

Yep! I think 2 ounces is $0.75 or somewhere near there

@@DesignsWithLiv i shipped off 3 orders with an Etsy shipping label in an envelope yesterday. 2 of the orders are in transit 1 is stuck in pre-transit. I ask the post office for any info and they told me this is not their tracking # and I'm not allowed to ship 'letters' with tracking. Any help?
@@racheltrevino8123 yes, it is not a USPS tracking number. It is a tracking number through Etsy, meaning only Etsy can track it!

You have to do it through the Etsy orders and shipping section in your shop manager. There's no direct link as you have to do it directly from your shop! It is only offered through Etsy, there is no option for tracking this cheap through pirateship!

what about if you sell a lot of stickers at once, what is the max weight USPS will allow you to use letter price ?
It's a stamp rate of up to 1 ounce. That's a decent amount of stickers. If you have more than an ounce you add the 0.1-ounce stamps or an additional full stamp on the package to cover 2 oz.
I'm still searching for people who add international shipping in their shipping videos...not one has even mentioned it

They’re 4x6 labels so I would assume so! I personally use 5x7 so there’s extra room for fun stickers😍

Etsy letter tracking seems to have broken in January. I have the majority of my letters stuck in "pre-transit" and some customers are asking where they are because they cannot track them. Some are arriving, because I'm getting reviews. Has this happened to you? Is there any alternative? I'm thinking of just using stamps.
One of my orders got lost in the mail, which I used a regular stamp to send it with. I reshipped using Etsy's "tracking label" for flat envelopes but mine is also stuck in pre-transit for the past 5 days...so not sure if it was delivered to the customer or not :/

Do your customers still pay 3$ for shipping?
nope - I offer free shipping so customers don't pay anything.. you'll get charged for the .55 cents when printing the label so it's the same as if you bought stamps at the post office. I used to not offer tracking until I figured this trick out (thankfully my customers never minded the no tracking thing but you can't get the star seller badge because you'll never have tracking)
I thought about doing this many times but noticed it prints as 51 cents not the full 55 cents will that get it kicked back if I don’t add my own 4 cent stamp in top of it?
No! I would assume that 4 cents is Etsy’s profit?? But yeah I’ve never had one come back because of that!

Thanks for the informative video! Do you use fixed shipping or allow Etsy to calculate? I can't get Etsy to calculate down to the stamp value even when I change the dimensions/weight to the envelope within the listing. Essentially, I want to avoid having to do partial refunds for shipping overages on every purchase because Etsy calculates $3.40 shipping for instance. It doesn't look like I can make this change prior to a purchase, or at least I can't figure out how to. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks so much!
I'm having the same issue. When I put in the weight/measurements, shipping comes to $4.30. I had two orders and when I did the label it cost $1.57. I quickly messaged the buyers and refunded them the difference and they had no issues with that. But where the heck is that $4.30 Etsy came up with??? I'm trying so hard to get it right and I can't adjust it properly.
You have to click letter or envelope and it has to be under 1 ounce. Hope this helps!
Just curious do you have to use Etsy shipping? Doesn't make sense to pay for tracking and it isn't USPS tracking or that you are unable to track it. Suggestion....try Pirate Ship....free to make account and use just pay for the shipping label. First Class shipping includes a USPS tracking # that you can track. Just a thought. Good luck.
This is true, but this is $0.55 versus about $3! The tracking is good enough for most small shops to just know whether or not the item was delivered which is the most important part!😊
