A thousand years after the Seven Days of Fire destroyed civilization, warring human factions survive in a world devastated by atmospheric poisons and swarming with gigantic insects. The peaceful Valley of the Wind is nestled on the edge of the Toxic Forest and led by the courageous Princess Nausicaä, whose love of all living things leads her into terrible danger, as she fights to restore balance between humans and nature. Featuring the voices of Alison Lohman, Uma Thurman, Patrick Stewart, Edward James Olmos and Shia LaBeouf.
Nausicaa is one of Studio Ghibli's best masterpieces. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind they'll continue to inspire us to overcome our limits enjoy what this world has to offer.

One of the biggest influences on my art and storytelling. I've seen nothing before or after that has matched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind in its themes, worldbuilding and characters. Truly lightning in a bottle.

I will always love this film. This and Mononoke hold special places in my heart, always. There was just so much depth and the fact that there's a manga with even more of the story... it's amazing work.
One of my favorite movies of all time 😊 most likely saw it as a kid in the 80s because i grew up thinking I had dreamt it. Wasn't until I saw an advertisement in a magazine promoting its upcoming release on DVD I knew I had found what I had been looking for and it's safe to say I lost my mind. Now 43 I'm married with 2 kids one 13 other 16 and along with my wife we love Studio Ghibli movies and have been to the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo. Nausicaa will always have a special place in my heart I still love watching it every chance I can.
The manga for this is amazing and is definitely worth checking out if you liked the movie! Really expands on the world and everything else.

Yes, the manga IS amazing. Miyazaki himself isn't really satisfied with the anime because he thinks the environmentalist message is not enough. The manga explores more important topics of the world of Nausicaä, especially the different ways how people cope with the world. Definitely worth the buy.

Definitely! I got the hardback collection, and it's worth every penny. Its what inspired me to take up nature conservation l. I make sure to read it at least once a year.
The manga is so much better than this movie. I was super disappointed about the movie.
By far my favourite movie of all time. Unfortunately I first saw it as the butchered version Warriors of the wind when I was a child. Absolute masterpiece and I'm glad they released the correct version.
Me too. Though Im grateful Warriors of the Wind and Robotech eventually led me to Nausicaa and Miyazaki's other masterpieces. This film is one of my favorites of all time.
Forty years ago, when there was no computer graphics yet, I saw this film in a movie theater when I was in high school and was truly moved by it.
Technically, this is a studio ghibli film before studio ghibli was founded. Also, Hayao Miyazaki first original film and second feature film.
But Studio Ghibli owns the rights, it started the studio, so it was retroactively added to the Studio Ghibli filmography.

My favorite Ghibli movie and also one of my favorite Sci-fi movies of all time. I really like the sea of decay.
The music too just tops it all off, such amazing worldbuilding!

I still really hope they make a trilogy or a series based on the manga. That manga is so rare to get it and read it, but it's probably the best manga out there, so deep the story, many characters, the setting is epic and so much more stuff than the movie.

Yes actually Manga has a very different complicated story, but I like it better.

I read them all in English version borrowed from a local library in AU.
I'm Japanese and I think English translation was straight forward, so was great.
The first Ghibli film I saw when I was a little girl- Nausicaa shaped the way I saw myself as a girl/female, and I’ve lived a fearless life thanks to her courage ❤
First saw this when it was released as "Warriors of the wind" back in the 80s..and I loved it then and love it now. One of my top favorite films.
Just watched for the first time. Astounding work of cinema, simply stunning.
This was my childhood. I know Hayao Miyazaki films have risen in popularity recently, but there really isn't a way to replicate the dreamlike stories Miyazaki made, and rediscovering them once you've gotten older.
The video transfer on this Blu-Ray is fabulous.

This is one of my favorite anime movies of all times. Interesting fact: when this movie came out back around the 1980's, it was called Nausicca Valley of the Wind. Also, there was a rerelease of this movie which had some top notch hollywood actors and actresses like Uma Thurman.
Love it, the new dubbing was really good, love the original and subtitles though, sounds the best in Japanese imo
There already is an english version, so why is there an offical trailer? Plus, does anyone else notice that the animation and voices in this trailor is a little off from the original dvd movie? I only noticed this because ive seen this move like 10+ times, and i recently watched it like a week ago. Am i going crazy?

I am suspecting GKIDS may have their own re-release of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Disney had distribution rights and released DVD/Blu-rays of it a decade or so ago under the John Lassiter years, but they have since lost United States distribution rights to GKIDS. I have the Disney distributed Blu-Ray, and I can tell you the animation does not look quite as clean as it does in this trailer. So maybe we are not only getting a re-release, but a re-master as well??
The picture looks better, but the audio is a bit better on the Disney Blu-ray.

Im pretty sure that GKIDS already has their own remastered version for their blu-ray release, which I assume is what this trailer uses
Nausicaa is not Miyazaki's first masterpiece. It was Castle of Cagliostro, which is one of the best action animes ever.
and ironically one of the worst Lupin films. I love Cagliostro but man it is so sanitized compared to rest of the Lupin III series.
@@deadturret4049 Indeed. But Lupin III wouldn’t have gotten a mass audience in Japan had Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki not sanitized it. In the original manga, Lupin III is actually a rapist.
