You have done so much for us, in so many ways. Comedy included. Thanks Mr. Wakeman.
Rick: Thank you, thank you, thank you... oh, and did I say thank you? You have filled my life with so many beautiful songs, and have been a key inspiration for my own musical adventure - we may likely never meet this side of heaven, but please know how much I appreciate you!
I saw him do this live in April 2023. Just an amazing show.
And his granddaughter's joke about heaven and stepping on ducks went over well. You had to be there to get this.
❤️
Gran músico
thank you Maestro.
This had me floating in a most peculiar way.
Did you tell your wife that you loved her?
@@killawhatt8620 She knows. (Not that I have one, but if I did, she would.)
He is a genuine superstar. Keyboard player beyond compere and a funny guy. I've seen him in concert a couple of times and he is exceptional.
Simply beautiful. There is so much going on in there. I'm sure David would be impressed.
Sublime, beautiful arrangement of a great melody.
Rick Wakeman THE FINGERS. THE MASTER. FOREVER YES!!!🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
I could sit in a beautiful Gothic Cathedral and listen to Rick play Forever,so close to heavenly peace, with all the troubles if the world so remote and forgotten.
I vaguely recall singing at Mont. St. Michel in France at 4 years old. I enjoyed the size of it of it more than Versailles beauty.Living in paris 59-61 Dad was US ARMY. Great history there on MSM.Plus we saw Notre Dame and again singing and its massive size, was a lot to try to take in.Then back to NYC 61-66.Then a three yr. tour between Bolivia(67-68),then Panama C. Z. 68-70 and so on till 74. A Very grateful Army Brat.Haha.Peace. Romans 8 first 3 verses gives me a Peace amidst the trouble, and the whole chapter changed David Suchet ; (Hercule Poirot), forever when he read it , Amazing story.
One of the absolute best performance of an absolute Epic and immortal song ever created. Place is magical and piano sounds sooo good ! Chords progression at the end was just sweet as perfection but perfectly in line on what and why we used to love hear you play since always, Sir Wakeman.
Grazie Maestro🙏🏻 & Grazie David🙏🏻
Are we all singing along in our heads? I know I am.Thank you Rick
Beautiful. Hey Rick, thought of doing an album of David's music? 10 tracks. Recorded just piano great acoustics. Maybe 'live'. You have the connection as you knew and worked with David. Would be amazing tribute to David and your brilliance on the piano. X
This and the Eleanor Rigby (which I believe was from the same performance) have a certain magic to them that just makes me feel so truly connected to that common musical thread that bonds, inspires, frustrates and tethers us as musicians. We need music but, I think that now, more than ever, music needs us.
I love it when Rick is at the grand piano, doing his own music or adapting some of his works with Yes, David Bowie, or Cat Stevens. I know he recorded several piano versions of this track, I must own at least two. Not this one, yet. It's special to record a piano in a cathedral, but with the right microphone setting it sounds really nice.
He also played for Elton John on his wonderful album 'Madman Across The Water'.
Oh ! Yes, Julio, I had forgotten this, I bought this album not so long ago... I neglected Elton John for my whole youth but maybe 12 years ago I bought Yellow Brick Road, listened to a few others among the older albums, thne bought Blue Moves, and more recently "Madman" and I noticed his name. The tracks he plays on wear Rick's unmistakable mark.
Rick is a national treasure
You are so much more than amazing. Your contribution to Yes is why I love it for all time. Thanks
Big fan of Rick, Seen him first in 1974 Cobo Areana in Detroit. Long blond hair and silver cape flowing with the magical music that he created, Of course, With the group Yes
I'va always thought David Bowie had this melody from Nat King Cole version of Stardust. 🤔
Someone had to break the melodic link and the ''memory of Stardust'' in it.
Finally, Rick Wakeman gives it a new form, a new creation with his piano version wich is the new melodic reference to Bowie's song.
I'm not a Bowie fan, never was, but this is a great piano piece, now.
Thanks to Rick Wakeman.
The graft produced a new tree.
Jeeeezz I was singing along so loudly in front of my computer!!! So Beautiful Rick!!!!
Absolutely beautiful rendition of space oddity
Takes me back in time
🥰🙂
Rick WOW. DON'T KNOW IF YOU READ THESE BUT YOU ARE IN MY OPINION THE GREATEST MUSICIAN WHO HAS EVER LIVED ON EARTH. Been listening to you since I was a young teenager back in the very early 1970s. Never got to saw you till the yes Union tour. Was so disappointed that you were not at my first Yes concert relayer or drama or all the other ones to follow until Union. But when I saw you in Phoenix Arizona on August 30th 2018 at the celebrity theater I believe that's the date with Anderson and Rabin... The way you played synthesizer on roundabout I was immediately elevated and transformed into another universe happens every time I hear you play that riff. I'm a guitar player I love Steve Howe but I was so blessed by Trevor's attitude and so amazed at how well you could play with Trevor 3 years ago on the arw tour 2018. True I'm a guitar player not that much into listening to keyboards but you wow. Space oddity I remember when I found out that was you 15 or 20 years ago I was not surprised if it was not for you Rick David Bowie might not have made it as big as he did what you did on space oddity was mesmerizing no wonder Jon and Chris snatched you up... I love you Richard wakeman
That’s For Sure!!!👍🎹🎹🎹🎼🎼🎼
Saw him play this in Bexhill on 3rd December. What a night of music that was - he told jokes too! Great musician, great man.
😊😊❤
@@charl1878 Thanks dude, starting to think I was the only person who appreciates good people and good music. 🇬🇧
........as I sit in a bar in Bali getting wankered. Trying to avoid my family.
Wow Rick plays so beautifully it made me cry.
There may never be another artist like Rick Wakeman, how tragic that would be for all humans.
Beautiful and sublime. Oh to spend a day with Rick and listen to him reminisce, pure joy! Thank you Rick!
Magical, what a beautiful variation of this Bowie song. Thank you Rick.
And The Stars ⭐️ Look Very Different TODAY 🎹🎹🎹🎼🎼🎼
Rick - What I loved so much about the originsal was the Mellotron - You have made it more beautiful and enchanting without.....I love this.
This guy is an absolute master of his trade and never fails to amaze me with his tallent and humour. I've been a fan of Rick for well over 50 years and seen him live on several occasions and if I had just a tenth of his tallent I would be a genius. Rick deserves to be knighted.
Absolutamente perfeito. Obrigada, Mr. Wakeman.
A nice tribute for a good friend. Thanks Rick.
Sublime! Words can't do this justice
Listening to Rick live is a unique and fantastic experience. I heard it and saw it twice in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I would like to see again who I admire
I love this song and besides Life on Mars, one of the most beautifull David Bowie works. Rick gives us this wonderfull piano version. Just loved it.
Will be 64 April and have been captured by the sound since I first heard the notes when Fragile came out on vinyl. Thank You Sir Wakeman. An incredible influence in my life though the magic of Music.
I love this guy. was a fan since the early 70's. I met him once and he was the nicest guy. Funny and kind. Thankyou Rick and Keep turning it out.
STUNNING...... Thank you Mr Wakeman, and Sir David Bowie RIP:(
What a beautiful human being! Wonderful performance.
Absolutely beautiful arrangement and performance !!
Rick Wakeman is beone words
He is so beautiful and fantastic
Such a ethereal talent
You catch the essence of the song so beautifully. Like a true labor of love, but without the labor!
Not sure if this was recorded at Lincoln Cathedral or not but I saw RW play there around three years ago and the event was being recorded for release as a live album. It was a fantastic evening of music played by the master. The sound was amazing in this setting and the audience were treated to a wonderful evening. Thank you for so many years of great performances.
Superb. Right up there with Beethoven.
Grande, Rick...🏆🏆
Fantastic
I love this Piano Version better than the original
Beautiful and serene!
I just got goosebumps❤️
King Richard. Have great pics from The Chestnut Cabaret in Philadelphia in like 88 or 89.

Subscribed Immediately.
Stunningly Beautiful.
Great performance. Brings back memories of the Criminal Record and Bird From Alcatraz.
Wonderful arrangement and performance. I should have guessed it was you playing Mellotron on the record.
You Can't Beat A Bit Of Rick. Amazing.. Rich Mixx...
I kinda miss the cape though
... and the curry. :-)
That was absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing it. Cheers from Winnipeg.
This just plain swept me away.
(:
"I got a call from Tony Visconti to come up and record some tracks. He said there was plenty of free lager included for the session, so off I went..."
I've always loved your work and I was a fan of John Ogden's albums so I was delighted when you mentioned him once in an interview as an influence. I could hear it. You have put the class into rock and roll. Saw you live with yes a couple of times amazing how good you guys were live.
Legend 🙌 the awesomely talented Rick Wakeman
He will fluff it up BUT...brilliant as usual..thanks rick..
Beautiful, Mr Wakerman!
This is sheer enjoyment. Thank you, Rick & David. I feel like Snuffles the dog, after receiving his dog biscuit. 🎶💞🎹💓🎹💞🎶
Rick Love your ending on this !!! 🛸🛸👌👌❤❤
What an easy sub, brilliant, too bad I didn't discover this channel earlier.
Lindo demais .....💜🙏😪
So sublimely beautiful.
Not this again surely? What about a bit of Adele for us youngsters?
Absolutely beautiful Rick.
absolutely magnificent Mr. Wakeman! i've been a fan for over 50 years good sir!
Thank you Rick you've been an huge inspiration and have kept me engaged as a keyboard player since I was a lad. Your my, cool older brother from another mother!! Bless you!
A pleasure to listen to.
Take your protein pills and put your helmet onnnnn.
Brilliant. Nuff said.👍
Not playing off of sheet music. This man is a treasure.
Probably didn't need to since it was his own arrangement. (and he loves improvising). But sight reading off sheet music is harder. You can't look at your hands!!
@@Cchogan And keep in mind that Rick plays with his eyes closed.
Beautiful rendition
Awaken. (my all-time favorite)
What was the trick to keeping a Mellotron in tune?
Fun to play, but. can you build it?
I was a kid when this came out and it tugged at my heart even then.
I like this variation but it lacks the desperation of the original.
Applause from me too. Thanks Rick.
Theo best keyboard in The world
Good but you should hear me on the stylaphone
Nada menos que brilhante!! Mr Bowie (Major Tom) agradece...
Aladdin Sane piano solo. Awesome.
As I play piano, I am in admiration for your fantastic interpretation of this song. Excellent video for the sound, the picture and for the great pianist that I know since the concerts of Yes.
🎹 👍 🌻
Gorgeous.
The Mellotron actually came out some seven years before Space Oddity, so it wasn't that new! Lovely bit of ivory hitting, Mr W
Was that the Moody Blues first? Seemed like Stevie Wonder used the Moog I think it was.
This will be the Classical Piano version for the next générations.
wonderful Rick
Is it cold in where he is playing ?
Show, bom de mais .
Goosebumps for 40 years! Thanks!
MARAVILHA ❤
This is beautiful, and a great setting.
