Every Canadian over 50 has this theme song stuck somewhere in their memories. Great Canadian show, as good as anything Hollywood was doing at the time.

I saw a taping of King of Kensington at the CBC studios in Toronto north of Bloor Street north on Yonge Street in 1978. By that time Fiona Reid had left. Al Waxman's secretary was my roommate's sister and she arranged for us to meet Mr. Waxman before the taping. A very gracious and kind man.

My first time in Kensington Market was only about 5 years ago. As I approached, couldn’t help but have this song rushing through my mind. All I needed was the bag of peanuts.

For a brief time in the late 1970s, WNEW-TV (now WYNW-TV) in New York City aired reruns of King of Kensington.

Interesting. Guess I missed that one. Though at that point anything on after 10 at night I was unlikely to have seen.

I remember picking up Season 1 on DVD nearly a decade ago. It’s sad that they never bothered with the other seasons.

When CBC shows were watchable. Plus, a 1 minute opening! They don't do that anymore.

      Sir Soul Brother.
Yes it definitely worth a watch. Hillarious.
But...Keep in mind, it is a 1970's program. So, the humour may seem tame and a bit lame compared to Today's usual standards.
That said; I hope you find it and enjoy it.
      I sure did. 🤝👍👍

"What a guy!" at the end of the song was voiced by an Estonian man named Rudy (can't remember his last name) who was a draftsman at Morrison Hershfield in Toronto. My father worked there and as a kid we'd ask Rudy to say that line when visiting the office, lol.

Hastings Street between Gore and Columbia in Vancouver probably takes the cake. I'm going to Toronto for the first time in 15 years, so I'll see.
