Each pillage level is 7.5 gold per mob averaged out because it only triggers 75% of the time. A single pillage level costs 300 gold.
300 divided by 7.5 is 40.
That's 40 mobs to break even, meaning if you're speccing into pillage late it will not pay off ever, I don't know the chances of the levels not being very populated, but it seems like if you only buy it from 1-5 you'll have like 7 levels of pillage at the end of the game where it pays off, which is actually just a guesstimate.
However you must account for the stat loss from not clearing waves quick, which can be pretty high. Let's say a person is 7 levels higher, gets 7 stats a level. He's missing out on 42 stats.
And there's also pvp. The items are worth something, and they can either help you piece together a build or be sold. With pillage only you're likely not gonna win the first two, if they average 500 gold prizes you lose out on another 1000 gold.
Obviously it's probably gonna break even more than not, but you can easily miss out on later pvps where the items are worth 1.5k and up, and will usually be a great help in clearing, which can net you even more stats, which are worth gold.
If I feel like it later, I'll rewatch the video and reply to myself and count the extra gold gained from pillage. 6000 gold is a large investment to make, and honestly I don't think it's worth it.

79.83% bonus gold.
It seems as though maxxing pillage is a viable strat, that extra 4k gold is probably enough to get the stats/items back easily, especially since it's maxxed you get a satisfying power spike. He died at round 20 with no kills on the 21st round, meaning there's 5 immensely profitable rounds ahead. However based on how low the return is on the low levels it's definitely not worth picking up a single stage at level 1, as monsters are limited and it pays off quicker at high levels.

level 2 procs: 3 +60 gold gained
level 4 procs: 3 +120 gold gained
level 8 procs: 3 +240 gold gained
level 10 procs: 4 +400 gold gained
level 13 procs: 14 +1820 gold gained
level 19 procs: 5 +950 gold gained
level 20 procs: 36 +7200 gold gained

You also have to account for the opportunity cost of a seventh skill slot, because you cannot unskill pillage at the point it becomes unuseful.
This was a really fun hero to watch, with mirror image and shadow strike. I'd love to see more unusual abilities in the future. It's not about winning, it's about having fun, albeit he was still surprisingly strong :D

One of my fav maps to watch.
The best spell for both pve and pvp is War Stomp. It hits multiple targets, ignores the amulet of spell shield and once leveled high enough has a shorter cooldown than its duration.
You would have had to get more mana though, as it goes to ~300-400 on max levels. Dealing ~700 damage is nice as well.

Here's an easy workaround to survive that level wtii:
Leave the game before round 21 starts
If you leave you technically don't die
ranged characters forever overpowered
Played this map a few times. Few abilities and heroes are brokenly better than the others. Naga Siren is probably the best all-around hitters if you manage to survive early mobs, which you can do by getting some hp tomes and vamp pots and mirror images.
There is also a map called Custom Hero Arcade which has similar concepts but has teammode.
You dominated the pvp and then get one shot afterwards... I had a great laugh XDDDDD

This huge power spike at the last levels of this map will always surprise the shit out of me lmao
i love watching you play this map but damn, those waves were you just get a overpowered mobs were fun at the beggining but more often than not they just ruin fun games lol. Like its one thing to make them difficult but im guessing those waves are balanced around you playing overpowered summoning builds hence why the windrunner with the hawks survived.

Invest in tomes of attributes before investing in abilities, I always aim for 400 str and 200 agi as a safe measure

these are always fun to watch
Thorns aura or carapace might oneshot themselves. You survived a few hits, so it could work.
1 level into frost armor early on and the rest into pillage atleast ensures you don't die vs melee, takes 10 lumb, JUST pillage is too greedy and hey you might've won that fight vs the voidling
On random abilities ppl max early so 25 lvls make sense, on pick go with 50 tho (at least from time to time)

Thorns aura with pulverize skeleton warrior guy is good with phoenix
I think mass hp would have been the only thing yea. Probably strength tomes since str hero, for dps as well.

i think only sell the gloves attack and get another shield instead or maybe get the crapace, cuz it also reduces the damage taken, or maybe str tomes, or the hawks could've worked, but idk if it would've helped you tbh.

passive skills will NEVER win against active skills in this map.
this map is TOO EZ for AP.
NEVER focus on pvm, PVM IS EZ.
and why war stomp banned?? doesn't make sense, it still have some duration where enemy is not stunned.

3. Blink (PVP MUST HAVE, Mobility is S tier skill),
4. War Stomp (PVP mainly),
5. Thunder Clap (PVP mainly),
6. Anti Magic Shell (PVP mainly),
7. and Finger of Death (or any single target if it's banned like shadow strike / storm bolt / other else, pvp purpose mainly).
preferred hero: tanky int with low cast delay / high mana str with low cast delay.
SURVIVABILITY IS KING in PVP.
clone item (Illusion always help) + infinite mana (bec blink duh) + cooldown reset (pvp duh) +
shield armor (duh) +
shoulder evasive armor (duh) + item that negate single target skill (pvp duh)
I've NEVER LOSE A SINGLE GAME in battle net if it's AP mode with this build, it down to who does better at pvp (if you play moba much, you should have the timing/apm/reflect, E.Z.P.Z.Lemon.Squeezy.)

Proceeds to share his build in which he uses all the most OP skills some of which are banned for exactly that reason. I don't know what version you are playing but in this version warstomp does indeed permastun which is why it is banned along with finger of death. Additionally, going the same build every game is not fun to watch which is his main job as a streamer. He is required to mix up his strategy and do something that is fun over something that is strong. Its part of his job. Also, some of the strongest builds are heavy on passive skills such as pulverize.
Wtii clearly dominated PVP late game with passive skills and items. He didn't need to use shadow strike.
