  • This English Civil War Walk of Newark on Trent stretches 12 miles as I follow the Civil War Trail and then extend the walk following an old map that dates back to 1645 pointing out the perimeter to this garrison town in the heart and end of the 1st Civil War of England between the Parliamentarians (Roundhead's) and the Royalists (Cavalier's). Prince Rupert and his troops came to the rescue of the King in Relief of Newark but it took 3 seiges of the town before the Parliamentarians took final control of this Garrison Twon from the King.
Also I got the chance to get a rare tour of the inside of Kelham Hall and its Sacred Order
If you enjoyed this historical walk let m,e know and I will do further historical walks
