Is it just me or when Reginas moms said 'if youre going to drink id rather you do it in the house'.... that made me think she was actually a GOOD mom? Because alot of people laugh and roll their eyes and think she is being a bad mom and trying to fit in.... but in my opinion she is being good and responsible. Because she knows if they dont drink here they will go elsewhere and do it... so she would rather them stay here in her house where she knows they will be safe?... she isnt encouraging it... she just knows it will happen no matter what so she wants to keep them safe? Am i the only one who thought this?
That's actually true! Back in high school I have friends with cool moms who allowed us to drink at home. As they said, it's gonna happen anyway. So even though we drink until we get shitfaced, it was always in someone's house and supervised. Kept us out of trouble and prepared us in a hell lot of social situations in university. And we live in an Asian country so yeah it's not usually the case esp for girls
I love this movie so much! The end where it shows the plastics being good and being happy makes me so happy! Its nice to see what they do after realizing being mean is not cool and they finally stop! Its refreshing to see :)

there's used to be a mall store called 579 and all their clothes were sizes 5, 7, or 9 so that's why when Regina couldn't fit the size 5 dress at 135, the sales lady said try Sears. 😬
The nice thing about 5-7-9 was that many girls wore that size range at the time, so it was all bought out in other stores. Plus, the quality was great.
Alternative Character Interpretation: -A fairly popular belief with fans is that back when Janis and Regina were friends, Janis was the queen bee and Regina was the innocent friend (like Cady) who was slowly evolving. Notably when Cady lies and says that there's nothing about Janis in the Burn Book, Janis seems annoyed (perhaps narcissism that the girls aren't even talking about her full stop?) - and at times Janis seems just as bitchy as Regina and is more of a Dirty Coward to boot. -Regina herself appears to care for the other Plastics *in her own twisted way.* When Jason is two-timing Gretchen, she gets revenge. She gives Cady a makeover and compliments her appearance. And she seems genuinely hurt when her friends turn against her - especially when she finds out everything Cady did to her. How much of these Pet the Dog moments are genuine or for a cheap narcissistic laugh...or both? -A popular interpretation of Regina is that she's lesbian or bisexual and is projecting against Janis due to internalized homophobia. -A lot of people see the girl whose apology is "I don't hate you because you're fat. You're fat because I hate you" as giving a Backhanded Apology, but is she? What she said could well be a more sincere apology as in, she is meaning that the other girl has got into comfort eating in excess because of her horrible bullying, which she is now horrified by.
Out of this entire commentary, I laughed the hardest when you said you hate math questions with words. You meant every bit of that statement. Billy, you're hilarious.
All ex's are off limits. Doesn't matter the amount of time dated or how it ended. Only with your friends blessing. However, thats usually bullshit, so still off limits. When they break up, WE ALL BREAK UP Kevin G is free game

Pettiest thing... In Highschool this girl who sat next to me would always cheat off my math tests by copying down my answers (I usually got good grades). One test, I wrote all wrong answers, but so they only needed like one more number to be correct, and kept track on scratch-paper which answer needed what change. So in the last minute of the test I changed every answer on my test to what it was supposed to be and she got nothing right. Could I have just told her not to copy off me or hidden my sheet from her better? Sure, but why do that?
In this minute 28:00 she never said the n-word ( or anything close to that ), they don't even have that word in the vietnamese vocabulary, the roterist just putted this word there as a shock factor, and basically set them up... just clarifying, sorry if something is wrong, my english sucks
The “made out with a hot dog” part doesn’t make much sense because they had to change it for ratings reasons. The original line involved a frozen hot dog and...some self-love 🤣
Personally i see Janice as a vilain too she used a girl who didn't have high school experience to get revenge and once Kady becomes what she (Janice)wanted to become she pretend it's all Kady fault
This movie is one of my favorites. When I was in highschool there was a teacher who kept a copy of this movie in his room. Whenever a teacher had an emergency substitute and there wasnt a lesson plan prepared we would ask if we could go and get that movie from his room. If the substitute was cool and let us we got to watch this movie for the whole class period. While I was still in highschool that teacher was hit while jogging and died so this movie became a way we remembered him. its always gonna have a special place in my heart because of that. Even without that though its such a hilariously written movie, Tina Fey really gets comedy.
Thank you! Mr. D is still celebrated and loved around here. They named the football field after him because he used to coach ❤️ the school bussed us all for his funeral we all miss him terribly but I think he’d be proud of the way we supported each other after.
Pettiest thing I have ever done... Backstory: I was born and raised in a Spanish-speaking Latin American country, but I have West Indian ancestry, so my 1st language is actually English. Anyway, in 2nd grade there was this girl that would always copy off me in English class. One day, we had a Spelling quiz and I wrote down all the words incorrectly on purpose, knowing she was copying me, and corrected them last minute before turning the quiz in. The teacher graded it on the spot. I got what's equivalent to an A, she an F. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
LOL I remember when me and my sister got the master bedroom because it was bigger and we could fit more of our stuff in there lmfao XD parents took our old room it was hilarious.
One of my childhood friends kinda did that. She used to share with her little sister, but when she got older she got her parents room and they moved into the livingroom.
"Is dating a friend's ex off-limits?" Depends on the friend, really. For some women, yes. For others, no. Some, you check with your friend before you start dating their ex, and I'm in that camp, because it could make things awkward for them to have their ex around when they spend time with you
Definitely agree. In my friend group, we don't date eachothers exes unless we take it up with our friend, and have a talk to know if it's ok. Of course, it depends on the girl herself, but most of the time, it's safer to ask.
High School Girls have a WHOLE set of rules and guidelines. Us older women who have experienced high school get it. Wow, I am actually getting flash backs to my 'so called-friends' who did me wrong in school. Girls in high school are the worst!
#bingers NERVE!! Please, please, watch Nerve (2016 - Emma Roberts, Dave Franco). The movie is one of my all-time favorites; it’s criminally underrated.
So Mean Girls was actually based off of an 80's movie called Heathers. And if you think Mean Girls was a trip, Billy there's nothing to prepare you for Heathers. #bingers
@@BillyBinges I'm warning you now that it is wild! But a cult classic, and a personal favorite of mine. There's even a fan theory that Janice from Mean Girls is the love child of Veronica and JD (two characters from Heathers), which is how it's all connected.
@@promisemochi I think it's more based off the musical portrayal of the characters, but the key points still hold up with the movie timelines too. Heathers takes place in 1989, and Mean Girls is set in 2004 which is 15 years later (Janis is supposed to be 15 going on 16 in the movie, which is why Damien always drives). The University of Chicago is considered an ivy league school, which was Veronica's whole thing, so it's plausible she went there instead of Harvard. And UofC is only 40 mins away from Evanston, Illinois which is where Mean Girls is set. There's other, more coincidental points too, like how the same actress played both Veronica and Janis in the original stage versions, but I digress lol.
I don’t know if I’m the only one, but heathers scared me so bad that I hated everything about it lmao and everyone else says it’s one of the best movies of all time. Am I the only one?!
In the year 2021, its soooo weird to hear "retarded" thrown around so easily but back then it was unfortunately said without any thought. I cringe every time I hear it in a movie! But Mean Girls is so insanely quotable and an absolute classic. So well written. So many people my age quote this movie constantly in their every day life 😂
@@the_lifted_stache3640 i cringe when i see people who think that "humor" is an excuse to be inconsiderate and callous towards other people. just because you need to go back to kindergarten to learn basic social skills doesn't mean that people who have issue with your inability to act decent are the problem. the common denominator is you
@@abbiereynolds8016 if you use this as an excuse to use slurs, we might as well say that torturing kittens or kids being bullied at school is okay now because some people find animals in pain amusing and bullies usually employ making fun of someone as a weapon to humiliate them. "humor is subjective" after all
I feel like dating a friends ex is ONLY maybe okay if they started dating and mutually decided that they would be better as friends🤷♀️ and then obviously if the friend was okay with it
Not done by me, but by my best friend. When our flatmate got treated like trash by her crush of the time, my best friend ran out in the street after him and slapped him so hard that he fell on the floor. You have to imagine the guy leaving the place after insulting the girl he knew had a crush on him, beginning to walk in the street to go home, and as he was about the leave the street, a fury in pyjamas and slippers running behind him at midnight to grab his shoulder, and giving him the biggest slap of his life.
The pettiest... when I was a freshman in college one of our good friends went out of town so there were 2 of us that were watering place and just making sure everything was ok at his house. Well, while he was out of town we found out that he was cheating on one of our other friends... so we put stuff around his house so that the new girl he was screwing would get angry. LOL hiding women's underwear, spraying the bed with perfume, etc. LOL Needless to say he was pissed, and we weren't asked to help anymore, lol.
@@BillyBinges Glad you liked it. HAHA! I have so many dating horror stories, some are mine, others are my friends. Let's just say that in high school and college my type was toxic, emotionally unavailable, and musicians. Thankfully I'm 33 and would rather be single forever than date anyone I dated from 2001-2010/11. I don't have time or energy to raise these overgrown children.. 🤣🤦🏻♀️
Seems overdramatic, but i legit had a group of friends in senior year who listed all the girls and guys in a notebook and passed it around so everyone could be rated 1-10. One of my friends found out we were in it. We got a look at it and found everyone we knew who would be pissed and told. Everyone was livid. Rightfully so. We made a big deal out of it. The notebook pages were trashed after some interventions from guidance counselors. I hope they still think about that from time to time.
I had to say it. I did the same thing to someone my cousin hated in middle school. I called and pretended to be Susan from. Planned Parenthood. It worked perfectly and was awesome.
Ex boyfriends are off limits sometimes depending on the friend and how serious the relationship was. It’s a far more complicated answer than just yes or no
I’m a band nerd and can confirm that literally everyone knows each other and is friends because everyone in the band class has known each other since elementary school so there’s a lot of hooking up going on.
Your question at 7:30 Yes generally ex-boyfriends are off limits to your friends. Some girls don't care if they're more mature and have discussions about it. But if you see your BFF get totally hurt by their boyfriend, you SHOULDNT WANT to get with him. For multiple reasons.
Note : The Vietnamese girl who said the N word in the subtitles didn't actually say it, she said something else in Vietnamese. Idk why Tina Fey found that funny
To answer your Girl Code question: it's case by case. If I dated a guy for a short while and you tell me upfront you're interested than it's probably okay because I'd respect you for telling me first. Some people are more possessive and would absolutely not be okay with it in any situation. I had a friend who dated a guy for a month in high school but it wasn't really serious and the breakup was amicable. Her bff eventually dated him and they've been married for like 5+ years and they're still very close friends.
The pettiest thing i did for my homegirl? I gave her toxic bf a middle finger while he was with his friends (for context, I'm a hijabi living in a Muslim country so yea a middle finger is rare). He asked her out to dinner (unplanned) and brought his friends without telling her, but luckily we made plans earlier and she felt too sorry to cancel with me so she took me with her. Also she wanted me and her then bf to be friends which obviously didn't work. I hate him because it was obvious he was using her as a trophy to show off to his friends. He didn't like me because he thought i was a bad influence to my homegirl (he thinks girls should be 'ladylike' and submissive).
I think it depends on the ex and the friend’s history. The reason for the breakup and if there’s any bad blood or something. But there are exes that remain friends and don’t care about what the other is doing romantically with their life. Personally, I’d like to see my exes happy. Even if that meant they found happiness with a friend of mine. The only one that I would maybe consider off limits is my fiancé (if we ever broke up). But yeah, it’s a situational thing for me.
I was searching for these comments :D That's a thing I don't get with movies, if you want to have a scene with a different language in it, just get someone who REALLY speaks it in order to translate it correctly. I guess it was supposed to be something like "Bleibt an eurem zugewiesenen/festgelegten Platz" but it makes absolutely no sense at all. :D

Cant forget Herbie Fully Loaded! It was a good one from Lindsay Lohan too!
This movie had some of the most iconic lines out of any movie I've ever seen.
"Four for you Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!"
"And none for Gretchen Wieners, bye!"
BOY: "...so that man could fight dinosaurs..."
Billy: "that's hilarious, that's hilarious"
Boy: "...and homosexuals"
Billy: "WHAT? WHAT?"
Same Billy same!
Same. I thought, “what ??” But also laughed my ass off right after.
Agreed but that's dinosaurist!
Ex’s are off limits.. idc how long we dated or how long we’ve been broken up, more than likely it’s going to put a strain on the friendship(s).. that’s not even including possible terrible breakups
100%
Agreed
Plus the fact that usually they are an ex for a reason and a lot of the time the reason is not positive.
You dont want your friend to go through that drama and you also be pulled back in
For real. Exes are off limit 100% of the time. No exceptions.

This movie always made me laugh so hard at "sexually active band geeks" cuz.... accurate lmfao. Band kids and theater nerds get a LOT of unsupervised time together lmaooo
What???? I wish I knew this 😂 woulda learned me an instrument or something
Truth!
I have never heard truer words 😆 I once saw a tiktok that being a theater kid you basically get the same high school experience of popular kids without the popularity. Wild parties, lots of friends, lots of drama, romance, and a sex and alcohol wasn't uncommon 🤣
@@nerdgirl7363 YUP lmaooo
Yep. My first girlfriend in high school was a band geek and we did… stuff
Wow good point! This is another reason why I personally love this movie, there is substance behind the jokes
This is what came in to my mind too with that scene
She is not just a regular mom, she is cool mom.
This was my mom's parenting tactic. But being the coolest mom in the neighborhood didn't cancel out the years of emotional neglect lol
I love this movie so much! The end where it shows the plastics being good and being happy makes me so happy! Its nice to see what they do after realizing being mean is not cool and they finally stop! Its refreshing to see :)
You go Glen Coco. She doesn’t even go here. Best lines ever
The fact that I can recite Kevin G rap by heart, is a proud accomplishment. Damn I have watched this movie way too many times.
I wanna be able to myself 😂
Fun fact: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler had to teach that kid how to rap

I wonder why they did that

As a native Chicagoan and south sider, I love that this is set up in the upper class northern suburb of Evanston and when the girls are going nuts, he's like, "Oh hell no. I did NOT leave the south side for this!" 🤣
Kevin G is unironically my favorite character in this series and he does not get near enough love, so glad you enjoy him as much as I do
Pettiest thing I've done for a friend: her, me, and the guy she liked worked at target, and he just pretended to like her as a joke, so they assign us a section to organize and stock and when she told me that it was on my day off, I was just there to hang out, so I went to his section and I ran through and messed up all his shit and he got a write up.
That's awsome. Lol

Man I would do that to my sisters ex (he works where I work) but honestly 😅 I see him getting yelled at enough as it is
That laugh of yours is very contagious and genuine.

Unless you have explicit permission, you do NOT date your friends’ exes. Safer to just not date them unless the friend sets you up with them.
I need permission to date someone they're not involved with?
agree
@@ShaiLai yeah…they were once involved with them and unless you want to keep everything about your relationship a complete secret, I mean marriage and hardships, I suggest you ask cause no one wants to hear about the new relationship of someone they fell out with
@@chickennuggetz5632 people date and break up all the time it's not that deep especially since most people get together because of physical attraction then separate because they realized they're not meant for each other. I will date who I want and no it won't be a secret. If my "friends" can't be happy for me just because they're possessive and immature that's on them.
As Beyonce once said: if you like it then you should've put a ring on it
If she broke up with him, what's the issue. He wasn't bad to her, he didn't break up with her, etc. Cady didn't even know Regina like that 😂
there's used to be a mall store called 579 and all their clothes were sizes 5, 7, or 9 so that's why when Regina couldn't fit the size 5 dress at 135, the sales lady said try Sears. 😬
The nice thing about 5-7-9 was that many girls wore that size range at the time, so it was all bought out in other stores. Plus, the quality was great.
Alternative Character Interpretation:
-A fairly popular belief with fans is that back when Janis and Regina were friends, Janis was the queen bee and Regina was the innocent friend (like Cady) who was slowly evolving.

You are diabolical 😂 but I love it
Same thing happened except I didn’t get revenge BUT she still got less than me 😂
I did the same thing with this guy in math class and I totally agree that I prolly should have just told him to not copy off me but.....

“Fetch” - adj: something really worth going for.
In this minute 28:00 she never said the n-word ( or anything close to that ), they don't even have that word in the vietnamese vocabulary, the roterist just putted this word there as a shock factor, and basically set them up... just clarifying, sorry if something is wrong, my english sucks
and if u guys are curious the actual translation is: c'mon please...

"Is dating a friend's ex off-limits?"
Depends on the friend, really.

@@BillyBinges I'm warning you now that it is wild! But a cult classic, and a personal favorite of mine. There's even a fan theory that Janice from Mean Girls is the love child of Veronica and JD (two characters from Heathers), which is how it's all connected.
@@shelbyshields5926 i have never heard that in my life and my mind is totally blown lol holy crap

The Class she were in where the teacher didn't speak English, was a German class.
