- The Canon FD 50mm F1.4 is probably my favourite Vintage lenses, and it is an absolute bokeh beast. At a very affordable $70 this lens is a bargain for any photographer on a budget looking for a good full frame F1.4 lens.

When Canon switched to the FDn (more plastic) lenses, their SSC coating became standard. THAT is why the older SSC lenses are worth more ... most people don't know the newer ones have the same coating as standard.
I found a good deal on a canon fd 50mm f2. Should i go for it or keep searching for a 1.4?
I was given a Canon F-1 with a few good old glass. a 1960s modded screw to FD 50mm f0.95 with giant 72mm filter ring. a cool 35mm tilt lens. Old fashioned perspective control. I still have its Canon dedicated flash. I have 1 of the newer AE-1 Program to go w/ . cool classics. They have their inprint data backs. The old style w/ clock dials to turn for dates.
Awesome, the AE-1 Program is hard to beat, such an iconic camera. And a 50mm f0.95 sounds like an absolute dream. Would love to one day own a super fast lens like that.
I like this FD 50mm lens, it is the only vintage lens I'd bought with no autofocus capability. I use it as a webcam lens with an EOS M2. I have the one with the "weird mount". I'd never seen an old FD lens with a modern bayonet mount in person
In regards to size, perhaps Canon was inspired by 50mm f1,4 either from Olympus OM or Pentax M systems 🙃
Spoiler, those guys are even tinier...
And in regards to colour shift while using that lens open wide, even some modern lenses are showing that flaw,
like for example the Samiyang 12mm f2...
I had an s.s.c. version and now i have the NFD version. I think the ssc was better. Great lens. As far as tiny, the olympus OM 50 1.4 is way smaller. I also have the minolta MD 50 1.4. But i think the canon is the best
Interesting, what makes the S.S.C version better than the nFD version in your eyes?
@@futc.photography idk i think the ssc was sharper wide open. Not according to youtube though. My ssc was a 1978 and my nfd is a 1981 version a coworker gave me in a case like the day he bought it almost 40 years ago
Love your vids, could you do a video on your photoraphy workflow, the programs you use and how you post process your shots/vids :)
Thank you! I might do a video soon along the lines of "How I replicate the analog look digitally" where I get into some of my photo post-processing :)
great video 👌production quality is insane
showcasing your images against the white background instead of black messed me up so bad, had to take 3 tylenols, won't sleep for a week.
Haha I think you need to turn down your screen's brightness 😂
