    I own an 2019 Q8 and it is absolutely great. Drives as a dream and had no issues with it. I have it for 2 years now(bought at 73000km) and it is the only car that I still love after 2 years and 50000km. And I owned a bunch of cars. I really think that is perfect. 22" wheels with all wheel steering.

    I own a 2023 Q8. It is a Premium Plus and rides on 22s. It is very smooth and solid acceleration. I was aware of an "optional" recall where I heard the acceleration wasn't quick and a driver could get a software update to fix it. I have no problems with the transmission, suspension, acceleration, or drive overall, everything is buttery smooth. I have owned an RS5 and Q5, and have driven an A6 and A4. The Q8 is a tank compared to my Q5. The Q5 is a great vehicle though, I love it still! My Q8 stays clean and it came with an Audi cloth. I don't touch everything and everyone who sees the interior loves it. I usually wear a suit when I drive the Q8. I have the 3D B&O sound system, and the driver pillar speaker was kind of buzzy while I was breaking in the vehicle. It went away after 1200 miles.

      Thank you so much for this phenomenal information. I believe every word you said, I just tested and posted a 2022 Q7 vid, the Q7 was flawless no issues with drivetrain or suspension. There was just something completely wrong with the Q8 I got.

    I have a 23 Q8 premium. No issues with ride quality. In face, build quality is excellent. Factory sound system is amazing.
    My issues are:1
    . Center console storage space is terrible
    2. No great place to store your phone
    3. No adaptive cruise control standard. My $23k 2018 Accord Sport had adaptive cruise control standard!
    4. Turbo lag kinda sucks but I can live with it.

      Thank you for confirming the ride quality, and massive congrats on your new Q8!
      I tested a 2022 Q7, that vehicle had no turbo lag despite having the same engine, not sure what's going on there but overall I think the Q8 is a great vehicle.

    So I don't have a Q8 but own a 2021 Q7. The biggest issue was the OE Pirelli run flat tires. Once I replaced those with a set of Michelin CrossClimate 2's it fixed the rough ride and muddy steering feel. I was thinking we made a mistake not upgrading to the air suspension from the higher models but it really was all in the tires. My only regret is waiting 20K miles to make the change. Outside of some infotainment glitches the car has been flawless. Even the brakes still look and feel great about 28K miles.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much my friend for sharing this, so this Q8 does not have Run Flats but the tires it has is just as bad.
      I do agree if these tires were swapped it would make a big difference in smoothness. I just don’t think it would fix the crashing sensation I’m getting over bumps.
      Could you also share with us your wheel size please? I may get a Q7 soon to test and I’m hoping I will have a positive experience with it since the Q7 is amazing value in the segment for the size and capability.
      Very happy that your ownership experience is positive!

      @@MeynMotorGroup Our Q7 rides on 285/45-20 tires. When you spoke about the tires in your video it's what made me comment. To me, mine felt like a crashing sound and thought something was wrong too. Another issue I have seen with this platform is motor mounts leaking early and to me that has to be down to the poor stop/start system that really makes things feel rough in certain situations.

      @@juvefan20 got it thank you for confirming! This is a great news for potential buyers. Have you noticed any lag with the transmission in the Q7 or has it been pretty responsive? Once again thank you for your time and amazing info

      @@MeynMotorGroup Transmission is geared way too slow for this car. I realize they can't make it feel like my b9.5 S4, but you are spot on that it could use a little tuning to bring out the best in this car. BMW does this all too well now compared to Audi. I corrected the throttle lag just by adding more power through a piggyback.

    • @danielrd7493

      I have a BMW X5. BMW is insistent on using RFTs on pretty much its entire fleet. Ride quality here in NYC was horrendous. I thought it was the car. Then decided to switch up to non-RFTs before throwing in the towel and selling the car. Bought Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Pluses, and my god the ride improved immediately. Handling was tighter. And when it snowed, I wasn't slipping anymore. So, I still have the car 40K miles later. Tires make that big of a difference.
      If I buy a new German car like Audi or BMW, I will insist on non RFTs as part of the sale, it makes that big of a difference.

    Mate awesome review, just keep on keeping it real! Facts don't care if people like them or hate them they just are, and the fact that you've found the suspension to be garbage, ultimately is a good thing to tell people as they will do their due diligence a bit better before buying, as 75K isn't exactly chicken feed, and for that kind of money I want to know the car I'm going to be buying and more importantly living with for however many years, is going to be a happy and great experience and not something where I sit in wishing I'd bought something else.

      Appreciate you as always my friend! Yea couldn’t believe how rough this thing was. The freaking Q5 for $30k less rode better. I will say a tire swap would do this vehicle a lot of justice but I still don’t think that crashing sensation would go away completely. Tire pressure was at 36 in this test vehicle. Getting a Q7 next week hoping that does better

    I have a 2019 Q8 Prestige and it drives wonderfully on air ride with 22's. No issues so far at 45K miles. I most recently came out of a rear wheel drive 540i so not fair to compare there but it is all I desire. I did immediately flash the Q with an APR Stage 1 Tune on it to eliminate the throttle lag(which was totally awful as stock/oem). I also have the all wheel steering and it snakes easily around for parking and highway. Highly recommend that. Our 2019 Q7 doesn't have it and moves around more like a school bus.

    I don't know much about these Audi's in the us market but here in Europe we got strict emission regulation and those diesel engines, especially the bigger ones got some tweaks including the exhaust system causing this delay.
    We got an A5 Cabriolet 2.0 TDI and a Q5, with its 3.0 TDI engine, both being 2018 models. The smaller engine feels so much more responsive and snappy. I am aware of the different engine tuning and them being 2 different types of vehicle but I've read a comparison of the small 2.0 and 3.0 engine in the Q5 and they proved me right.

    The sluggish start from a stop is factored into the throttle response, not the engine or transmission. The drive experience really improves with a throttle adapter, such as PedalCommander. The suspension was very good in stock form, but there is a bit a roll- not unexpected given the weight. I think your Q8 has something going on.

      I drove a 2022 Q7 with double the miles, it was flawless. Engine and transmission reacted better than this Q8 in any mode and ride quality was perfect. This Q8 was certainly defective, this should have been a great SUV

    Well, Kevin, great review as always. However, not my cup of tea. Just keep the reviews honest, it could give a heads up that a short or no test drive would not. You can go to any blog of owners of any brand and get how great the car is. Your honest and articulated reviews are not only entertaining but may help someone not make a mistake. Great job, keep them coming.

    Same thing with every Volkswagen AG product here in Europe, in the "Comfort" drive mode the whole drive train is unbelievably lethargic. The older cars were so much quicker haha, the tuning is so slow now. I drive it full time in Sport mode (Cupra Formentor PHEV) and get the same fuel economy as in comfort. The Porsche Cayenne actually has a cheaper suspension set-up similar to the Q5, not sure what they did wrong here.

    • @deurkl
      @deurkl Год назад +2

      To add: I use the Individual drive profile to change the adaptive suspension to comfort, and the engine to Sport. You have to enable that every time you get into the car though, might be able to code that out (or in) that it uses the individual by default.

    The tires may have been overinflated. When I took delivery on a brand new Q3, i thought the ride was pretty rough compared to a rental q3 i had from Enterprise. I just thought that mine had the 20 inch wheels compared to the 18’s on the base model rental so that was the reason for the roughness. Fast forward to a month later while I was checking the cold air pressure of the tires. They were 45psi! Audi reccomended 38psi. I deflated the tires to the correct pressure, and it was riding like a luxury car should. Way more comfortable than my Ford Edge with 18’s.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Год назад +1

      Great observation my friend but I did manually check the psi I forgot to mention it but it was correct at 36 all the way round for this test vehicle. But you’re right, over inflated tires ride like trash as well. Swapping these tires would help tremendously I’m sure. Getting a Q7 to test today

      My 21 GLS handled like a 70s American sedan, I was shocked by the difference because it felt the opposite during the test drive. I later found out my tires were around 30 psi and the recommendation is 38, so tires do make a difference, and the handling is really decent for its size

    My 2019 Audi Q8-prestige trim, while stunning has been a true nightmare. I'm constantly at the dealership. I had an alternator go which resulted in my car shutting down in the middle of the road. Since, I have had a wide variety of warning and malfunction lights that result in hour long drives to Audi. I am actually in the market for a Toyota to drive on a day to day basis as I have lost my sense of security in my Audi. Unfortunately, being upside down in the loan makes selling a bad idea at the current moment. Also a rough and gritty ride vs luxurious.
