    One of my favorites too! I first heard it when I was the page turner for a trio performing it and I fell in love immediately!

    The big difference, to my ears, is the holocaust. The Jewish Folk music [Klezmar] that Shostakovich uses in this trio contains some kind of hope for civilisation, whereas SQ.8 uses the same Klezmar, but its hope is completely gone.
