What would life have been like without ABBA! Happy 50th! 🎉6/4/74 - 6/4/24. Go to ABBA Voyage concert as soon as you can! I remember vividly watching the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest as a 6 year old and watching ABBA performing “Waterloo”, and being mesmerised. I’ve been a fan ever since, even being bullied for it, especially when entering secondary school in 1978. ABBA have a combined wealth of nearly £1.5billion. Oddly enough, 6 April 1974 to 6 April 2024 is 1,577,912,463 seconds. So ABBA have earned £1 per second over the last 50 years! Thank you Anni-Frid, Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha.

You're not born too late. Sure, music is very crappy now-a-days, but there's still music. Deep inside the internet, there are good songs. If your verdict is that you hate music from the 2000s and up even though there are still good music out there and you completely obscure the thought that you are extremely one-sided, good thing there's still RUclips and many other music sites to replay the songs you love over and over again, torturing yourself.
I have been a fan for 42 years. Not only are their songs complex in their musicality, the beats, melodies, harmonies and hooks unforgettably catchy, their chorus' rival any ever recorded, their musicianship and vocals and production flawless, their style and image outrageously squeaky clean and cutting edge, their characters adorable but on top of ALL that, each song tells a story with lyrics that are both personal and fantastic. The lyrics to this song alone are so freaking interesting I wanna know more! Gimme gimme gimme more! They never get old. God they're good.
Their songs have complexity, yet they kind of feel simple. Some of them have part of the appeal I find in, for example, the simpler early Beatles songs. But then they actually have really interesting music underneath that just isn't there in Love Me Do.
There legendary band However Always felt Frida never fit in with character it's just feeling She not Swedish at all like rest of them Her performance is not as good as rest them Always felt they should had someone else like Agthena or similar vocals just my opinion
Мне сейчас 56 , вспоминаю свои 13 лет, на душе радостно и грустно.Прошло столько лет, а песни 70-80 до сих пор популярны.Вот что значит живая музыка и живой голос!
One of the greatest and most successful bands in the music history. Was not that popular in the States but that doesn’t matter. The world is much bigger place than us. It was our loss I suppose. I love this band ❤️
Yes, it's strange ABBA never really took off in the States. You don't like association football (soccer) either. It's like America is apart on world opinion.
Well, I think they were popular here in the US from Dancing Queen on...Just took a couple years longer than in Europe, a couple years after Eurovision, ie. Waterloo,. But, yes. The morons that were part of the disco backlash in the late 70s didn't help ABBA. Those people also didn't listen to ABBA enough. They had a handful of disco songs, but they were POP overall, not disco.
Lucky Luke...ABBA toured the world, including behind the Iron Curtain, and no matter where they toured, they showed people what Happy was all about. In the USA, people loved everything about ABBA, but the Politically Correct media gave ABBA no air time, "leaked" lies that ABBA be too "racy," Bjorn, for one, being a sissy, the girls forever flashing their panties, and so forth. Make no mistake about it, we, the people, loved ABBA., still do love ABBA. Proof? Check and compare comments on any and every ABBA video on RUclips.
@@janettgrady2394 My mum took me to see the original West End production of 'Mamma Mia!' and I quickly became an ABBA fan, even at age 12; so I can assure you, my generation has enjoyed their ear-worms for sure!!! :-)

Abba una de las agrupaciones más extraordinarias de todos los tiempos, con esas voces tan aterciopelada le daban ese toque, MARAVILLOSO, orgullosa de esos tiempos, JAMAS los cambiaría por los de ahora.
Looks like an artist painters depiction of an Swedish Viking-age shieldmaiden / alternatively a Valkyrie. Absolutely beautiful.. and she had a lot of class
I used to use this track for demonstrating high end car audio systems, as it's ideal. Aside from being a great song it's got an articulate mid range, and a really tight snappy bass line. On a poorly set up system ( about 90% of all chav wagons ) it sounds odd, but on a professionally set up system it's tight, punchy snappy and infectious. Abba were a fantastic band, if only pop were as good now. We should be so lucky.
Ha..! Funny that... I used this track for the same reasons- many years ago- to demonstrate a pretty useful (for the time) audio system in an 80 Ford Granada Ghia... :D Gimme, gimme, gimme was an ideal "test" also...
I used the song to carry out two tests "Do you have musical ears ?" and are you "not a music snob ?" but yeh works for car stereo tests too ;) ABBA was/is/always will be awesome :D
I cannot believe I have never heard this song! I was raising my son when ABBA broke onto the scene, and I fell in love with their music. I thought I had every one of their songs memorized! They have to be the all-time best group. I was stunned when I first learned they did not speak any English when they recorded their first songs...they did it all phonetically! I was so disappointed when they stopped recording. Their songs evoke a better time when the world was more at peace and life was better...a world of which young folks today cannot even imagine.
@@juttaweise Who are you to say they should have retired? Not sure how not doing it is better than doing it? You can always choose to not listen. That said, their new album is good enough given the context and better than some of their earlier work. And as usual, some of the songs are telling us about themselves but 40 years on. Voyage is like a bookend to their 50 year career. A kind of closure. A valuable addition to the total, as will be their concert.
The secret of Abba is quite simple, great melodies, great singers, it's just fantastic party music. I guarantee somebody somewhere will like at least one Abba song. Benny and Bjorn are as good as Lennon and Mcartney in my view as songwriters
I have only known of ABBA, but it wasn't until just recently that I discovered this new passion of mine for their really kickass beats! If you watch any of their old music videos, you will totally wonder what magic they used to create these super original melodies!
Para mi ABBA es la mejor banda de pop de todos los tiempos nadie superará ese sonido tan bien elaborado y las voces tan bien armonizadas de Agnetha y Frida. Simplemente los mejores.
There seems to be a certain percentage of people (including myself) that are deeply affected by ABBA, to the point where it can pull one out of a depression, induce a cathartic emotional release, feel a deep connection to others, or get motivated, the way no other band can. For us, ABBA is the best band of all time. It'll be interesting to see if ABBA music has that same impact on a certain percentage of people decades from now.
Why oh why was I not alive in the 70s? This is the ultimate disco song. I'm a shy girl but even I could never resist going completely wild on the dance floor to this song.

2:44 This is probably my favorite part of the video, she holds the camera to convey a more intimate feel with the viewer, and honestly I love it. Moments like this are what I think more music videos need, some spur of the moment thing that makes it feel more organic, even if we know it's scripted for the most part, but still works with the overall composition of the video and visuals... I will add I am slightly drunk so dun mind the rambling lol
Els Verwilgen Absolutely, you are right. But this video has something... very nice, despite it is very simple. Agnetha is just great here )) very beautiful...
Abba's greatest hits compilation Gold has become the first record to spend 1,000 weeks in the UK's album chart. 19 years and 12 weeks in the top 100. and is currently at number 17.
I still think this song along with gimme gimme gimme and a couple others where robbed of the no1 slot in the charts at the time, wonder if it had anything to do with the beatles having 17 no 1 hits and the bbc didnt want it touched by anyone, if anyone noticed the media where having a go at the group at the time also, bbc chart rigging they wouldnt would they you bet they would

SAME😂
Lol

I have been a fan for 42 years. Not only are their songs complex in their musicality, the beats, melodies, harmonies and hooks unforgettably catchy, their chorus' rival any ever recorded, their musicianship and vocals and production flawless, their style and image outrageously squeaky clean and cutting edge, their characters adorable but on top of ALL that, each song tells a story with lyrics that are both personal and fantastic. The lyrics to this song alone are so freaking interesting I wanna know more! Gimme gimme gimme more! They never get old. God they're good.
Well said.
That's why Broadway has created "Mamma Mia," based on their songs, and the movie. My crazy youth... Party, party- every night with ABBA😍😍😍
Xmanrate I’m 12 and I love abba and Cher
Their songs have complexity, yet they kind of feel simple. Some of them have part of the appeal I find in, for example, the simpler early Beatles songs. But then they actually have really interesting music underneath that just isn't there in Love Me Do.
There legendary band However Always felt Frida never fit in with character it's just feeling She not Swedish at all like rest of them Her performance is not as good as rest them Always felt they should had someone else like Agthena or similar vocals just my opinion
Nothing compares to ABBA.

Dedicating the evening to ABBA!
but only the old songs! Forget the new album. They did not do themselves a favor.
They should never have come back.
Me too i love listening to them on RUclips and RUclips Music and on deezer. 🎧 😉 👍 👍
Doing that since a week :) 🌊
I can as well and not think twice about it!
This song and video is so 70’s! The lights, the bright funky outfits, the beat, the music…So goooooood!!!
That comment caught me thinking, because Queen also wasn't verry popular in the US in the beginning.
@@janettgrady2394 My mum took me to see the original West End production of 'Mamma Mia!' and I quickly became an ABBA fan, even at age 12; so I can assure you, my generation has enjoyed their ear-worms for sure!!! :-)
I am in my late 60s, a funk and r&b woman. But ABBA are beloved by all music lovers. Superb musicians. Benny and Bjorn were masters at crafting perfect pop songs. Fabulous! 😊😊😊😊
Down the ABBA rabbit hole I go. Harmonies, happiness and disco vibes. 💃🏻

I was born in 2004 and ABBA is still my favorite band!! Thank you for the music Agnetha , Björn , Benny and Frida!!

Born in 2003! And I still remember my father buying an ABBA cd because I love them so much when I was little 😂😂😂
ABBA is the 2nd most successful band after THE BEATLES. THEY provided extraordinary TUNES which are difficult to erase from our memory.
Yes,I agree ABBA are a close second to The Beatles although they will never overtake the Fab Four they'll(ABBA)remain close on The Beatles heels.

They affect me far more than The Beatles. The Beatles were my parent’s music. ABBA is MINE!
Anyone else on an ABBA binge?

ABBA was such a great band and everybody loved them. i saw aTV special featuring them as a kid and was completely awestruck. They will be missed but never forgotten.while their music lives on! 💜
I cant put my finger on what makes their music so epic... Voices are great, sure, but the tunes, the beat.. Its just musical genius!
@man enough Nope.
Nothing and no one compares to ABBA. Loving them since late 1970s and as much today as then!
my disco nights in the 70's dancing to ABBA, Now 67 & still enjoy listening & dancing to their music...❤💃🕺great song
My gym teacher put this song on our workout class today! He has good musical taste!

Looks like an artist painters depiction of an Swedish Viking-age shieldmaiden / alternatively a Valkyrie. Absolutely beautiful.. and she had a lot of class
ABBA are my medicine against depression. I always feel happy when I listen to their songs. So thank you, ABBA for putting a smile on my face ❤️

Gimme, gimme, gimme was an ideal "test" also...
Don't know about the high end car audio systems but for the 'if only pop were as good now', I couldn't agree with you more..
I used the song to carry out two tests "Do you have musical ears ?" and are you "not a music snob ?" but yeh works for car stereo tests too ;) ABBA was/is/always will be awesome :D
Simon Murray Under attack works great also lol.. sounds amazing cranked
'Chav wagon'
I never ever get tired of watching and listening to ABBA, all their songs are timelessly amazing!!!!!!!!
Voy a la disco de verdad para oir a ABBA, construiré una máquina de tiempo, volveré a los 60-70's, quién me acompaña?

I'll do it again!

Seeing teenagers on TikTok rediscovering this music is what keeps me hopeful for the future of music. They're coming back at the perfect time.
One hopes their return will have some positive influence on the current music charts. Can only go up from here.
but not with their new album which is more than disappointing. They should have stayed retired.
Sad to see such a monument crumble by it's own deeds.
A valuable addition to the total, as will be their concert.
what is the secret of abba ? their secret is that they have 2 phantastic singers and 2 phantastic arrangers/songwriters.

Maybe the best band of all times?
There seems to be a certain percentage of people (including myself) that are deeply affected by ABBA, to the point where it can pull one out of a depression, induce a cathartic emotional release, feel a deep connection to others, or get motivated, the way no other band can. For us, ABBA is the best band of all time. It'll be interesting to see if ABBA music has that same impact on a certain percentage of people decades from now.
Remove maybe and the question mark
Surely yes.

LYRICS
People everywhere
A sense of expectation hangin' in the air
Givin' out a spark
Across the room your eyes are glowin' in the dark
And here we go again, we know the start, we know the end
Masters of the scene
We've done it all before and now we're back to get some more
You know what I mean
Voulez-vous
Take it now or leave it
Now is all we get
Nothing promised, no regrets
Voulez-vous
Ain't no big decision
You know what to do
La question c'est voulez-vous
Voulez-vous
I know what you think
The girl means business, so I'll offer her a drink
Lookin' mighty proud
I see you'll leave your table, pushin' through the crowd
I'm really glad you came, you know the rules, you know the game
Master of the scene
We've done it all before and now we're back to get some more
You know…
Thank you very much.

Hi from philippines
This is the music that will never die or ever be beaten.
Everything about this song is crazy incredible. One of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. I heard it at the gym and was like who is this? And was like damn this abba and shook my head like damn how this slide pass me. This is their best song for so many reasons. Take it now or leave it. Cold Lyrics and incredible music

Abba's greatest hits compilation Gold has become the first record to spend 1,000 weeks in the UK's album chart.
19 years and 12 weeks in the top 100.
and is currently at number 17.
I still think this song along with gimme gimme gimme and a couple others where robbed of the no1 slot in the charts at the time, wonder if it had anything to do with the beatles having 17 no 1 hits and the bbc didnt want it touched by anyone, if anyone noticed the media where having a go at the group at the time also, bbc chart rigging they wouldnt would they you bet they would
