Few things I envy in life. This one of them.

That final Voulez-Vous switching to the Major and then transposing up 2 semi-tones into the main riff (from 1:15) is an absolute stroke of musical genius you simply don't get from music today.

My French teacher played this yesterday in class. Best lesson ever
I remember my music teacher playing this to us in secondary school - so about 34 years ago! I was shook! Loved it.

Best group EVER this song is phenomenal
What would life have been like without ABBA! Happy 50th! 🎉6/4/74 - 6/4/24. Go to ABBA Voyage concert as soon as you can! I remember vividly watching the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest as a 6 year old and watching ABBA performing “Waterloo”, and being mesmerised. I’ve been a fan ever since, even being bullied for it, especially when entering secondary school in 1978. ABBA have a combined wealth of nearly £1.5billion. Oddly enough, 6 April 1974 to 6 April 2024 is 1,577,912,463 seconds. So ABBA have earned £1 per second over the last 50 years! Thank you Anni-Frid, Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha.
Musically, this song is absolutely phenomenal. It has so much energy, the bass is ridiculous!! Pure joy!! Thank you ABBA for such a legendary arrangement! Even to this day, if a DJ drops it , the dancefloor will boogie away!!

You're not born too late. Sure, music is very crappy now-a-days, but there's still music. Deep inside the internet, there are good songs. If your verdict is that you hate music from the 2000s and up even though there are still good music out there and you completely obscure the thought that you are extremely one-sided, good thing there's still RUclips and many other music sites to replay the songs you love over and over again, torturing yourself.

ABBA was such a great band and everybody loved them. i saw aTV special featuring them as a kid and was completely awestruck. They will be missed but never forgotten.while their music lives on! 💜
Two of the greatest songwriters, musicians, and two of the greatest lead singers in the history of humanity. What a blessing to be alive when ABBA performed.
Well said.
You were lucky s I lived after the fact
I think back then ABBA have been just a regular band (let's not forget there have been shit loads of great bands and performers in the 70-80s). Their music has become better over the years because the music has went downhill in the last 2 decades, and we can compare today's beats / rap / hip-hop garbage with Abba's music and the contrast is pretty high when compared to the time they've come around. Again, let's not forget that the 70s and 80s decades have known some of the best and most iconic music bands in mankind's history: Queen, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, BZN, Smokie, Deep Purple, and so many more that I can't even remember right now. Nowadays, you can count on the fingers the bands / performers that deliver great (read: evergreen) music on a constant basis (say 2-3 times a year, but sadly not even that often)
bla bla ABBA was definitely an exception back then given their simple constant success. You only think the 70s and 80s were so wonderful and perfect bc time has fogged reality. When we look back we naturally cherry pick the best of the decades and walk away thinking the entire span of years was like that. The 80s had just as many shitty songs as we do now, we just dont have to live through them so we dont bother to remember them. In 30 years everyone is gonna be looking at Train or Ariana Grande or Maroon 5 and asking "dont you remember how amazing they were and how great music was then?"
Sarena Romriell You're wrong. The best songs of the 80s (over all music genres) WAY surpass in number and quality the best songs of the 2010-2020 decade. As someone who's listening to any type of music I can name 30-40 songs (tops) that have been produced in the last decade and which will globally be remembered and liked 10 years from now. I don't think I can find 30, though :)
Whereas for the 80s... oh, boy! Give me 2 days and I still won\t finish naming the hundreds of evergreen songs. At least half of those songs belong to the greatest bands of all time (hell, only Abba and Queen alone share 30-40 hits between them).
Just to get an idea, here is only a fraction of the big names of the 80s, that people have heard of internationally, and liked at least 2-3 of their songs, if not more: Abba, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Fancy, Savage, BZN, Gazebo, Harpo, Laid Back, OMD, Toto Cutugno, Bonnie Tyler, Ricchi e Poveri, C.C. Catch, Kim Wilde, Modern Talking, Bee Gees, Foreigner, Scorpions, The Clash, Cher, Simply Red, Meat Loaf, Al Bano & Romina Power, A La Carte, Pussycat, Arabesque, Baccara, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Boney M, Chris Rea, Deep Purple, Depeche Mode, Demis Roussos, Dire Straits, Dschinghis Khan, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Goombay Dance Band, Madonna, Ottawan, Roger Whittaker, Smokie, Steve Miller Band, Billiy Idol, Bruce Springsteen, Julio Iglesias, Mike Oldfield, Rod Stewart, Ultravox, Yello... and I'm sure I missed more. But these alone have had hundreds of evergreen songs between them, and if you've listened to the 70-90s music constantly you would have heard songs from these performers at least a dozen times, no matter which part of the world you're from
what is the secret of abba ? their secret is that they have 2 phantastic singers and 2 phantastic arrangers/songwriters.

***** I couldn't have said it any better myself.
Those commercial hits, the business style of managing the band hit after hit, cost them their families, and a lot of suffering. The girls were exploited. Agnetha principally. At the end of their time they hated each other. Love affairs and some say they became swingers in the band.
Back then musicians had what I call heart & soul - without deep emotions and spirituality you get the trash songs of today. There are some things that machines never can beat us humans in doing... making great music is one of these!

ALL THE ABBA MUSIC IS EPIC FOREVER .
INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL SONGS , HARMONIES , MELODIES , VOICES AND MUSIC SOUNDS .
PERFECT INTERPRETATIONS .
THE HIGH EXCELLENCE POP GROUP AND MUSIC .
I used to use this track for demonstrating high end car audio systems, as it's ideal. Aside from being a great song it's got an articulate mid range, and a really tight snappy bass line. On a poorly set up system ( about 90% of all chav wagons ) it sounds odd, but on a professionally set up system it's tight, punchy snappy and infectious. Abba were a fantastic band, if only pop were as good now. We should be so lucky.
Ha..! Funny that... I used this track for the same reasons- many years ago- to demonstrate a pretty useful (for the time) audio system in an 80 Ford Granada Ghia... :D
Gimme, gimme, gimme was an ideal "test" also...
Don't know about the high end car audio systems but for the 'if only pop were as good now', I couldn't agree with you more..

I have been a fan for 42 years. Not only are their songs complex in their musicality, the beats, melodies, harmonies and hooks unforgettably catchy, their chorus' rival any ever recorded, their musicianship and vocals and production flawless, their style and image outrageously squeaky clean and cutting edge, their characters adorable but on top of ALL that, each song tells a story with lyrics that are both personal and fantastic. The lyrics to this song alone are so freaking interesting I wanna know more! Gimme gimme gimme more! They never get old. God they're good.
