      His entire page is a rationalization of why you shouldn’t lift heavy and squat to full depth. All under the guise of specificity.

    Brother I LOVE your train of thought. You have the most rational approach to strength training out of all the coaches I follow and respect. Props to you sir. I appreciate your channel and learn a lot from you. If you spent about 20-30% more time editing your stuff, you’d be at 100k+ subscribers on here.

    Im so glad i stumbled across your channel. Its legit steroids for strength and conditioning and simplifies it for the regular person. I've been banging my head against the wall for years, trying to train "specifically" for soccer. I was fortunate enough to train at an S&C gym until they decided to price fix in my area 😓 My main problem is managing load and finding that minimum effective dose to see improvements for myself. Last 2 years have torn calf grade 3 and now recovering from surgery from a torn meniscus (played 4 games over the time rip). Please keep up the great work sir. Much love ❤👍

    At the end you said “this video has gone longer than I intended so I’ll just leave it there”. In the context of not going after this one argument for an especially long video I understand that, but if you wanted to do more medium-long form content on this channel we would appreciate that Will!

    Just recently ran into an video of "Renaissance Periodization" making fun of the personal trainer of Lebron James. It is one thing if some random self proclaimed expert can not tell the difference between skill, STS and basic capacity. But it's a different thing when the Lakers hire a "fitness guru" whos claim to fame is that he prepares actors and is a personal trainer for celebreties, MMA pros hire abolute amateurs for their S&C program. Some people in the S&C wirld just make sense. Henk Kraaijenhof does. Or Joel Jamison. That Will Ratell is not managing a million dollar budget strength and conditioning program in the NCAA is beyond me

    New to your channel. I've followed Schmarzo a bit lately and I think I like his content. I had a hard time following your rebuttal to his methods here, but I'm intrigued and would like to know more. The point about skill qualities versus physical qualities seems compelling, but are hinges that bias velocity over force not very effective? Are you saying that joint-angle specificity is overrated? S&C is not my field. I'm just an enthusiast trying to learn. Anyways, really enjoying your content.

      Schmarzo is a bluffer who can only generate notoriety through clickbait content that goads and incites controversy. He has no fundamental grasp or understanding of physiology or biomechanics. Stay well away from content creators like him or else you will be forever mislead.

    I always think of the Sartre quote on Anti-Semitism: "completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words... by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors."
    By just saying a bunch of words that convolutes any sort of meaning, they can say whatever they want, profit off it, and make people who are evidence based and read literature look foolish (and they make more money, generally). Who would not want to do that? Because ethically, they are convinced they are right, they do no wrong, and know that we have to prove them otherwise with the most carefully constructed arguments (which are always so well presented).

    I honestly have no clue how Schmarzo has built the following he has. Dude puts out the most placid workouts/programming ever. You never seen one testimonial or client that he has helped improve or even himself for that matter. Dude has like 250k followers yet has very little engagement on his stuff, I never see anyone post about his Everyday Athlete subscription plan. Seems suspicious.

    This guy has also recently been wrong about power and strength. I think he compared throwing with lifting in a way that didn't make any sense to me. Would be interesting to see a response. This man gets autoclout from having "science" in his name, which seems unjust because his posts are very casual in the verbiage used and not that scientific, unlike e.g. DataDrivenStrength.

  • @anthonykonas1003

    Train the spectrum, it’s that simple. I’ve never seen a weightlifter than can’t jump. Hell, my vertical went from 21 inches to 34 inches by only doing the Olympic lifts. I’m not saying that everyone should do them, but they’re a tried and true method. This high pull bullshit doesn’t do what they promote it does. Simple works, it’s that easy.

  • @anonymous4711_
    @anonymous4711_ Год назад +1

    So what is there exactly in-between lifting and skills training? Top ranked 12yo kids have insane tennis groundstrokes (all skill little strength I assume). Senior club players who don't lift are deteriorating rapidly with age (indicating how big general strength is), also imagine you were suddenly *weaker* - that's kinda unacceptable. Finally, tennis pros do a lot of tennis specific athletic training in those "better bodies tennis factory" videos. What gives?

      Hey man I appreciate the feedback. I think your assessment of Max is incorrect though. He’s intellectually dishonest. Prior to making this video, I contacted him about having a debate (more than once actually) and he either ignores my offer or plays dumb by responding “debate about what?” And then I tell him a topic of debate he ignores me. He’s ideologically committed to many of his views that are based in false premises because he built platform on them and if he were to admit that he’s been providing bad information, his entire identity loses credibility.
