Would love to see you guys use some coffee from some local Singaporean roasters (I heard Nylon is pretty good!). Or maybe you both can discuss some of your favorite local spots.
Hey there, we have been using coffee beans from local roasters in our past videos, but we thought we would give this a go this time as they are an Australian product which is where we had some of the best coffees! - Jon
Our large bag of beans has no seal as well. We use the airscape to store most of it and seperates a small portion into the Ikea container. I missed a few episodes as i am traveling for the holidays. I missed when you guys started talking.. Love it! Happy holidays
Hey, it is a bit disappointing that they don't have seals on large bags, isn't it! But good thing, you guys have an airscape so you are covered! Hahah yes, we got new mics recently. Hope you had a fun time traveling. Merry Christmas and stay safe! :) - Jon
Do check out smaller local roasters in the future, eg kenntaroast, very interesting beans for a pretty affordable price compared to the bigger roasters.
my take on this coffe would be to leave the grind as it was but run a longer shot, maybe 18 in 55 out in like 24 seconds since the first shot tasted sour as you said.grinding finer can lead to overextraction very easily.😢
I think the sticker you cut when opening is supposed to be what "seals" the beans when storing. I like you two talking in the end instead of just the subtitles
Oh really? Seems a bit odd that it is meant to be sealed back because it doesn't look that way hahah. We did keep it in a double ziplock bag so hopefully, it will keep it fresh! - Jon
The last cup looked perfect! Latte art totally makes cafe cut for me. Your dial in was good too. 😊 You guys so interesting. I think the “big fat chocolatey” is just marketing. 😅😅 Maybe they oversold it? But it is still a good bag of beans.
Thank you! Haha if only I'm able to replicate that everyday. Not too sure if they oversold it or we weren't able to full extract the beans. But we're glad the chocolatey flavour note came through in the end :) - Jon
Hey guys, are there any local roasters in Singapore where you are? Getting a new bag that is already 2 weeks old isn’t ideal, especially since you are not freezing it. If possible try to get coffee that is 2-3 days old so it can last longer
Yes, there are. The beans we buy are normally freshly roasted and we do wait about 2 weeks before we dial in. We thought it would be the same for this, but we only found out about the roast date after we received it. So, yes we do normally get beans that are freshly roasted haha - Jon
Quite fun seeing you two taste the espresso and discuss it together!
Hey, thank you! Glad you enjoyed this style of video. Great to hear feedback like this! :) - Jon
