Bare in mind that Seiko is becoming overpriced because it is after all a Seiko: a solid rugged, well reliable brand with plenty of heritage and innovation that does everything in-house. It has become my favourite brand along with my Casio's, G-Shock and Citizen.
Disagree on the prx, the price is great especially quartz tho the black is a little hard to see the details compared to blue and silver, bracelet is fantastic and every watch scratches so can’t say much about the bracelet being scratch magnet. The case looks amazing the dial looks amazing and idk about everyone else but this watch is very accurate. Deserves the hype for me
Can’t stand priority bands! I avoid those watches always. If I can’t put my strap on it I’m not buying it. Simple. And the moonswatch was an epic debacle!!🤣🤣
Moonswatches are in a good spot right now with the reduced hype and should continue. They should be able to be purchased direct online. They are what they are. You're overpaying for a logo. Throw on a tpu protector over the dial crystal and don't wear it super tight while working out. It's not G-Shock or an Ironman so just don't treat it like one and you'll be fine.
Agree with you on rolex sub., Addiesdive and omega but you are wrong about seiko 5 gmt. If this thing gets discontinued anytime, will fetch penny. It is worthy of owning atleast 2 pieces. Sell it down the road for same if not more money for sure. Nothing wrong with qc on mine.
Best thing about Adiesdive is how it looks in outside light, the way the indices catch the light is great. Nothing amazing otherwise. Good value but you woudn't replace a San Martin in the watch box with it.
5 watch brands which do not deserve the hype: 5. TAG (what a sorry memory is Sellita powered TAG Monaco trying to be its own replica of Heuer Monaco of 1969) 4. Hublot (never mention this brand if you think to be some sort of watch connoisseur) 3. Richard Mille (horror on wrist, one can get similar Invicta for less $$$) 2. Patek Philippe (Archieluxury and all that noise) 1. Rolex (worth of waitlist? NOPE) My personal opinion is simple: Those brands I listed are SO BORING that even Invicta has more interesting offerings...
But those manufacturers don't hype either of these watches. Omega hype their watches, they pay for scenes in films lingering on their logo, they pay stars to sneak preview unknown models, they pay for scenes dismissing their competition to be written in. How do AP hype the RO? They just make it, they barely advertise it, do they pay anyone to wear one? I don't even know. I know Max Verstappen is paid to wear TAG (and wears Rolex when he's not on the grid, and he gave his wife a Daytona for her birthday, imagine that, you have tens of millions in the bank, you are on TAG's payroll and the watch you choose for your wife to wear is still a Rolex you walk into an AD and you buy). What you're complaining about isn't hype, it's prestige and desirability. Many many years ago Arai (motorcycle crash) helmets advert used to be people at the IOM TT, sponsored by other helmet manufacturers wearing Arai helmets stickered up to look like the makes they were sponsored by. Very similar I think, Max Verstappen is given and is paid to wear TAG Heuer watches, ywt he has been out and bought Rolex for his wife and himself....think about that.
Regarding #5, I agree completely. Never heard of #4. Regarding #3, I think the Seiko dive watches are well liked for a reason. They look great. I have one (the Arnie). Regarding the sub, I do not think it's overhyped. It's a great watch with a great heritage. I have one. Regarding #1, again, it's a great watch with a great heritage. I do not own own, but will probably get one in the future. Again, I do not think this is overhyped either. IMO, most microbrands are overhyped. They are mostly worthless sh*tters IMO.
Check EVERY RUclips watch reviewer with over 200k subs. 90% of them are absolute Rolex fanboys (although I like some of them). They are the ones overhyping Rolex
Let the hype die out and make tons of deliberation if this watch is worth your attention because you'll spend a considerable amount of money before jumping in.
Why would I want a shameless Pro-Diver rip-off by this Rolex Swiss mafia family, when instead I can have (and I do have!) an ORIGINAL Invicta Pro-Diver, as worn by Sean Connery in "Dr. No"? And that Moon Swatch? Crikey! They want 5 times as much for these cereal-box toys (they should be either free, or come for 3 bucks in a cereal box WITH cereal!), as an ORIGINAL all metal Pagani Design with a superb Seiko/TMI VK63 calibre, that is superior to any cheap Swiss wind-up toy clockwork in an Omega, that does not even come with a pop-out cuckoo on the dial!
I dunno, I absolutely love my ice blue 35mm auto prx. I get compliments every time I wear it (that’s not hyperbole). Way more than any other watch I own, including those more expensive. And, as you mentioned, it spawned the “affordable” integrated bracelet craze.
It's a shame I can only thumb up this video just once. Here's another one: ll Rolex submariners after the 5 digit M versions stopped being tool watches.
Hype does what it’s supposed to do…. Sell things and guess what…it works all of the watches you mentioned have sold in the thousands, and are still selling so why complain about it! You yourself have bought some of them. As for the moon swatch ever since the release I’ve seen nothing but RUclips watch reviewers complaining about how shite they are…..but they have sold thousands and thousands of them and will continue to do so, I think it’s the reviewers who are flogging the dead horse so to speak.
Seiko deserves the money for that GMT because they developed the movement. I looked at all the microbrands with the NH34, and most of them don't match the utility of the Seiko at that price. Most lack a key element like they have a unidirectional bezel or poor lume. So far, the only other NH34 watch I bought is the Victor Wee microbrand MMI with the unique Turret date wheel, full lume dial, 300 meters WR, and dive bezel.
Isn't unidirectional bezel a feature on expensive divers or is this a GMT thing? I see people complain if there is any back play on the bezel. I imagine they'd go nuts if it actually moved backwards too.
Cause of Tissot prx literally every brand in the world made a copy or tried to compete with their own integrated bracelet watch ⌚ and all failed so how is that overhyped !? Makes no sense
Let us just admit that Steinhart destroys Seiko GMTs all day and night: sapphire crystal, better movement (Swiss made) with way better accuracy, better bracelet, better ceramic bezel. F Seiko and f all the fan boys who can not have a real conversation.
That’s Seiko 5 that makes those GMTs, NOT the same company that makes Presage, GS or Prospex. IT’s like owning a Rolex and not liking Tudor. Get it together buddy! You sound stupid. Get off the swiss fanboy high horse.
"Swiss made" isn't by itself a mark of quality (either in terms of design, originality, reliability, durability or even how much of it is actually made in switzerland, bizarrely.) A quality product is a quality product because of whatever engineering, manual labor, durability, and innovative design that goes into it... some seikos fit that bill, many don't. Steinharts are fine, some are very good... but there have been plenty of seiko releases that are subjectively and objectively better than most of Steinhart's offerings. The SARX033 springs immediately to mind. The SDGM001 too.
San Martin, far too expensive for a Chinese product. And Lange und Söhne, Cartier, Arnold & Son, Audemars Piguet, Blancpain, Breguet, Chopard, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Patek Philippe, Girard-Perregaux, Piaget, Rolex, Ulysse Nardin, Zenith. Far too overpriced.
Do your research first about those. " Chinese ' watches . Quality is quality, material is material, no debating.. first find the reasons why they so cheap and what they trying to achieve

@@msk3905 Same here. I could buy any Rolex with zero financial hardship, but why bother? I do not find the brand desirable, don't care about impressing others and fail to see how any watch can really be worth anything like the prices Rolex charge. Would much rather spend a fraction of the money on a still excellent brand I actually like and want to have on my wrist.
@@paulc9588 Bingo!
@@paulc9588 do you own any expensive watches? After a few hundred bucks couldn't you say the same thing about pretty much any luxury watch brand? I'm wondering where the goldilocks zone of price and value are for you. Longines comes to mind as a brand that offers more value for their pricing compared to others but one could also see them as a waste of money in the grand scheme considering you can get a gshock for $20.
My Invicta choice would be the Pro Diver 30598 SE.
They also do a Casio Duro alternative (47225).
Hello Olivier! I have a watch to give you a "hint" If you do like the Seiko 5 sport model. It's a Cadisen model C8220M It has a sapphire cristal, ceramic insert, screw crown and etc. I've payed about 60 US Dolars for my Orange one. I love It.
Well that's a watch that deserves a attention and a few people talked about It.
Greetings from Ricardo in Brazil.
Nice video! I agree with your opinions
Hello Ricardo! Thank you, I had no idea about that one! It's just missing a milled clasp and it would be everything the Seiko 5 doesn't offer for 20% of the price!
@@Horologique I changed the original clasp for a milled one. I also bought the clasp on Aliexpress. It's a 16mm width milled clasp a little hard to find and it is not signed. Now it has everything a Seiko 5 doesn't offer!
Pas de fausses notes en anglais cette fois-ci.You're getting there. Keep up the good work. By the way, I agree with the majority of your choices. Bare in mind that Seiko is becoming overpriced because it is after all a Seiko: a solid rugged, well reliable brand with plenty of heritage and innovation that does everything in-house. It has become my favourite brand along with my Casio's, G-Shock and Citizen.
I’ll take that Seiko 5 off your hands if you want 😊
👌
Disagree on the prx, the price is great especially quartz tho the black is a little hard to see the details compared to blue and silver, bracelet is fantastic and every watch scratches so can’t say much about the bracelet being scratch magnet. The case looks amazing the dial looks amazing and idk about everyone else but this watch is very accurate. Deserves the hype for me
Can’t stand priority bands! I avoid those watches always. If I can’t put my strap on it I’m not buying it. Simple. And the moonswatch was an epic debacle!!🤣🤣
😂
Moonswatches are in a good spot right now with the reduced hype and should continue. They should be able to be purchased direct online. They are what they are. You're overpaying for a logo. Throw on a tpu protector over the dial crystal and don't wear it super tight while working out. It's not G-Shock or an Ironman so just don't treat it like one and you'll be fine.
I agree MoonSwatch was so bad for value and durability. Well said.
I didn't get your last line. Did you mean to say san martins are better ?
5 watches that dont deserve hype:
All rolexes
Casio 158,168
Ap royal oak
Casio duro
All omegas
If the Rolex sub is overhyped tell me what the Royal Oak is then 😂
Yes, I didn't want to include too many obvious ones 😁
The MoonSwatch is the worst of the bunch! 😳😜🤣😅😂
Totally!
"MoOv-mEnT" lol. thank you for the vid and the advices
I’m thinking a non proprietary movement constitutes the “sh-tter” label??
Omega Moon Watch is great watch and comes with a lot of heritage, opposite Swatch Mons Swatch is overprice piece of plastic.
@@Tom_Kowalczuk Agree.
BTW - Who hypes the Sub and Moon Watch? Not even sure they are hyped. They don't need to be hyped.
Check EVERY RUclips watch reviewer with over 200k subs. 90% of them are absolute Rolex fanboys (although I like some of them). They are the ones overhyping Rolex
Being honest about it, *any* luxury product is over hyped. It follows by definition.
I need to hype myself up before buying a watch. Sometimes I get disappointed after buying.😂
It's funny, Seiko just released new versions of the SSK - SSK033, SSK035, SSK036.
Agree on those first 3 very much !
PRX is on my wrist ~350 days a year and I own multiple really decent watches
Spot on
Almost all Seikos are over hyped in my book, and they seriously lack any originality in the past decade or two
Most Ali Express watches are overhyped. They are the perfect brands to try a style and a set of colors before sending them to the salvation army.
I dunno, I absolutely love my ice blue 35mm auto prx. I get compliments every time I wear it (that’s not hyperbole). Way more than any other watch I own, including those more expensive. And, as you mentioned, it spawned the “affordable” integrated bracelet craze.
The Addies doesn’t even have sapphire.
@@jonasnaeyaert3738 you are right sorry!
@@Horologique, no problem at all.
Yeah, the prx in person looks kinda cheap and flimsy. And those edges are way too edgy.
It's a shame I can only thumb up this video just once. Here's another one: ll Rolex submariners after the 5 digit M versions stopped being tool watches.
THANK YOU so much for your kind comment 👍👍
Hype does what it’s supposed to do…. Sell things and guess what…it works all of the watches you mentioned have sold in the thousands, and are still selling so why complain about it! You yourself have bought some of them. As for the moon swatch ever since the release I’ve seen nothing but RUclips watch reviewers complaining about how shite they are…..but they have sold thousands and thousands of them and will continue to do so, I think it’s the reviewers who are flogging the dead horse so to speak.
#4 you basically ' pointing out / attacking ' other RUclipsrs to prove your opinion holds more weight !?
Seiko deserves the money for that GMT because they developed the movement. I looked at all the microbrands with the NH34, and most of them don't match the utility of the Seiko at that price. Most lack a key element like they have a unidirectional bezel or poor lume. So far, the only other NH34 watch I bought is the Victor Wee microbrand MMI with the unique Turret date wheel, full lume dial, 300 meters WR, and dive bezel.
Well then, check out the Steinhart GMT 39mm divers. And Steinhart has been for years on the market keeping their prices low.
39 mm is a tad too small for me, but thanks 😊
Isn't unidirectional bezel a feature on expensive divers or is this a GMT thing? I see people complain if there is any back play on the bezel. I imagine they'd go nuts if it actually moved backwards too.
Cause of Tissot prx literally every brand in the world made a copy or tried to compete with their own integrated bracelet watch ⌚ and all failed so how is that overhyped !? Makes no sense
Because they were all trying to jump on the overhyped bandwagon when they made those homages of a homage.
@@kennethg9277 makes no Ducking sense what you said , they jumped cause it's fire 🔥 if it was overhyped they wouldn't care -_- Jesus Christ
😄Love them all!
Tissot PRX
Addiesdive
Seiko 5 GMT
Rolex Submariner
Omega Moonswatch
hype hype baby
Hahaha. I own the first two (PRX, DeepSeaHunter), and love them!
And yet, does not this video (and this comment) add to the hype?
I disagree the map, hanging on the wall, that's not the Earth, change the map, get the flat Earth map, it's more precise!
"Swiss made" isn't by itself a mark of quality (either in terms of design, originality, reliability, durability or even how much of it is actually made in switzerland, bizarrely.)
A quality product is a quality product because of whatever engineering, manual labor, durability, and innovative design that goes into it... some seikos fit that bill, many don't.
IWC? Omega?
Do your research first about those. " Chinese ' watches . Quality is quality, material is material, no debating.. first find the reasons why they so cheap and what they trying to achieve
@@casteltheghettomonk4392 No need to research, I own watches from San Martin, Cronos, Phoibos, Seestern, Watchdives, Baltany, Sugess and Merkur.
@@Pierluigi_Di_Lorenzo you can't even explain why ? That's your level of IQ, you don't care don't bother . I highly doubt you even got those watches .... No matter who or what present to you evidence or whatever proof you like on a platter there's no way you changing your opinion about this topic ....
@casteltheghettomonk4392 There are ways to disagree and I totally welcome them as long as they are respectful. But please respect other people in your comments
Seiko as a whole brand is massively overhyped. They were once the budget kings but they are now pushing out similar budget watches for rediculous prices with dreadful quality control, abysmal materials, woeful customer service and they don't even bother to regulate the movements yet people still pay for them because of brand name and 'heritage'!
A fool and his money are soon parted...
If Seikos are overpriced then I can't figure out any other decent brand that is ....
This video is insufferable. Hindsight is 20/20 and this is zero.
First time I’ve come across your channel and I like this video
Absolutely agree but would go onto say these watches are shit stains on the history of horology
GIBBERISH 👎👎👎
