His widow after all these years still has tears. What a wonderful woman and a great man she married, I wish some people would show respect here - it is disgusting. I am pleased that after nearly 50 years this hero gets recognition for put his life for his job. RIP

This is very touching, and it has been a long time coming. I'm very happy for the family of Dallas police officer J.D.Tippit, who suffered a great loss at the hand of a cold blooded murderer. Now, based upon the words written by Farris Rookstool III, the world will be able read by way of the marker, the facts about what happened on that fateful day.

What ever happened to due process? What about "innocent until proven guilty"? The case against Oswald is a Swiss cheese of holes that any competent defense lawyer could rip to shreds in minutes.

Rip to shreds in minutes... Two dozen witnesses saw Oswald shoot Tippit, flee, reload, exchange words with one of them, hide out, duck into the theater, and get caught red-handed trying to shoot a second cop with the same gun minutes later.

Given the fact that the Federal Gov still refuses to release files from the assassination, and Oswald always maintained he was a "patsy"; then maybe we should hold off on judgement until the real story can be told.

Only said he was a patsy in relation to being hassled by The Man for having lived in Russia, not because he thought a coup was framing him as the assassin of the President.

Former FBI agent Rookstool was commissioned to provide information for the plaque for the TX Historical Commission, though he has made a living accusing Lee Harvey Oswald of Kennedy's and Tippit's murder, and was thus biased, with a conflict of interest. I and many others object to the Commission's act of becoming judge and jury in condemning Oswald as Officer Tippit's murderer. In this great nation, one's innocence is presumed until proven guilty in a court of law. Much new evidence has emerged, proving Lee Oswald was purchasing popcorn at the time Tippit was killed. This plaque is an act of brash censorship, forcing a city's opinion on the people of this nation. The plaque should have said that, though Oswald was charged with the murder, new evidence indicates he did not kill Tippit. While there is no doubt that Officer Tippit was killed in the line of duty on that historic day, we, who are the friends of Lee Harvey Oswald object strenuously to this decree against Oswald, and we intend to do something about this lynching by committee. No reply will be made to the usual characters who stalk the Internet insulting and mocking those who have finally learned the truth.
