- Michael Jordan's 1995 comeback as told through news reports. After an 18-month retirement to play baseball, Michael Jordan returns to the NBA.
Press Release:
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 18, 1995) - The following statement was released today by Michael Jordan in response to questions about his future plans:
"I'm back."
Jordan literally missed two years in his prime and is still the greatest imagine if he didn’t take those years off
I think Hed probably have 8 rings
@@bobbywelch8339 that's what I was probably thinking too and he had done so much through that time that it's unbelievable and the pandemonium was so big
@@bobbywelch8339 He played in '95, and lost to the Orlando Magic in the second round. The Rockets went on to sweep the Magic in the Finals. Technically, he only missed a season and a half. You can play the "what if" game all day long, but he did play and lose in '95.
@@bullsonparade8030 Yeah, because he was rusty. And the team made moves when he was gone that would have been different if he was there.
@@jwl1278 who's fault is that?
Excuses are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink.
They were already calling him the GOAT even when he still had 3 rings. Crazy.
Toriyama confirmed Kid Buu is strongest Buu Crazy True!
That's how dominant he was. People didn't even need to look at rings to make the argument.
Yeah, calling him the GOAT even before he became the GOAT.
Yeah you can watch the documentary that came out in 1993, the guy was already a f legend, and he came back and did it again... that's just unreal, nobody can beat that !
I love GOAT specially when u slow cook it.
Nba players in 1991-1993 : Damn this dude so great
Jordan : Retires
All Nba greats : My time has come
Jordan : Cameback
All nba Greats : Ah shit, Here we go again.
I miss being a kid in the 90s.
Me too-just imagine what i was doing in 95 and 96
flimflam hell yeah we old now😒it was a great time to be young
Cries in Nintendo tears... It was definitely an interesting time...watching the rise of internet technology. Now we have... well... the urge to launch ourselves from a cliff
We miss Phil Jackson's hair.
Me too
American sports has never witnessed anything like him before or after
But Brady has six championships too and he did it without Scottie and Phil
RoboCock yeah he did it with cheating & Bill
RoboCock Brady also didn’t have to play over a 100 games a season and had Bill Belichick and Gronk was kinda like his Pippen in a way. MJ’s killer mentality and how the game was just so easy for him is why he’s the greatest athlete who ever lived maybe.. and certainly the Goat
Well Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson
Muhammad Ali was as big as Jordan, and he was the hated one by many. Jordan was a cultural phenomenon, but Ali was a social and political phenomenon. A case study on the politics of that era.
And to think... he came back for 3 more rings EVEN BETTER
00Mindi00 against trash opponents
@Bruce Wayne dont even respond, he's a troll
3 stright
@@UndisputedHands i think you have him mixed up with labron James. This is the real goat mj not lb. He played back when there was some dominant players in the east in an era with hand checking
What a troll...like bruh you realize how much harder the NBA was back then too with hand checking let alone the competition he faced in the east back then??..
Just listen to this video and think about the way that everyone is talking about Michael... Labeling him as the greatest of all time and this was even BEFORE he won 3 more championships, 2 more MVP awards and 3 more finals MVP awards!!
I'm here now thinking the same thing, it is truly impressive.
you can watch the 1993 documentary, they talk about him like a legend, the greatest ever, and he came back and did better... nobody will beat that ! and also the guy was highly likeable, not like today's players
Yea he was already the GOAT before coming back for the 2nd time.
Aka, recency bias.
Mj made news all over the globe without the internet man i miss the 90's...
Jordan returns
knicks: damn
rest of nba: damn
Lmao
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I remember that day forever. I couldn't sleep couple of nights.
You too? I was distracted from my studies in high school over this.
One of the happiest days in my entire life.
The magnitude of this was unlike anything the basketball world has ever seen, even today 12/2018.
My 4th grade year... I couldn't sleep either
I know right. The world freaking changed. I could not believe it and was ecstatic
Damn there were some badass teams back then! Bulls, Lakers, Pistons, Celtics, Knicks, Pacers, Jazz, Blazers, Suns Rockets, Sonics. Always tight playoff races.
That's one of the main things I miss in todays game. I wish the talent was spread out a bit more so we would have more competitive games and playoffs.
AggiePride4life talent is pretty spread out at the moment there is no clear best team this year
@@Aggie4life77 welp next season is gonna be exactly that.
People often forget that the Bulls didn't even make it to the finals in 95 but it served to wet Michael's appetite for 96, 97, and 98. He was always a joy to watch, even as an old timer on the Wizards. I always wanted to be like Mike.
This was such an exciting time. I'd been following the Bulls before MJ returned, and Pippen was like a giddy kid when he knew his buddy was coming back. I remember him pointing at his Jordan's in front of a camera and smiling ear to ear.
Think of how many amazing Jordan performances/highlights we were most likely deprived of during '93-94 and '94-'95. The Bulls could've won the titles those years too, and Jordan could've had some more iconic playoffs/finals moments for all we know - after all, he had iconic plays/games in 5 out of 6 finals, so the odds are pretty good he would've had more in those 2 years (I don't really remember any in the 96 finals). I'm just so bummed we didn't get a chance to see him for those 2 years - who knows what he would have added to his legacy.
0:24 rarest of highlights. Thanks for the upload for real. I wish I could watch every second of MJ's career. You blink and you miss an amazing play.
Hands down by far the greatest basketball player of all time bar-none! The magnitude of his comeback was never seen b4 or after! MJ was already labelled GOAT while he was actively still playing the game! Take out his retirement & he finsihes his career with 8 rings & 34,000+ scoring plateau
MJ, best basketball player all time. Bar none. Anyone who watched him play knows this
If MJ has not retired, Bulls would have 9 championships in a row or something like that...
CursorX1 or only 3 with him suffering burnout
They lost in 95 after he came back lol
Rob G yeah after not playing almost 2 years!
I dont think they would have beaten the rockets
Martin XD - They would've smoked the Rockets.
I imagine that there is a fountain of youth that will restore michael jordan to his prime health and wish he plays again in the nba.
The rest of the league was crying the second he quit baseball
Man I love hearing Magic talk about "MJ." He got mad love for the dude lol.
Yes! Magic sure called it!
Magic is so humble as the real GOAT!
Michael Jordan is the greatest ever.
MJ said he never regret that he retired to play Baseball , that was his happiest time in his life . And then he returned basketball, still dominated NBA, true black Jesus .
Already considered by many to be the greatest to ever play by the time of his first retirement. That's how fkin good he was.
Imagine playing only 9 seasons and being called the greatest to ever do it.
@@fabolousninenine30 he played 15 seasons bruh but definitely the goat
He wasn’t the goat by then.
He was already called theGOAT after only 8 seasons in the NBA?
Filip Ladan just
Filip Ladan JFK
Filip Ladan lol
@@adamhenryrosario263 hu?
That’s how dominant he was. People didn’t even need to look at the rings to make an argument.
I remember that day
I was in college at México .
All friends from the school make a big party of course ..
My new AIR JORDAN. SHOES...
SWEET
jordan could a been #1 in the scoring list
If hes not retired early..he might hold all time scoring..and have more than 6 ring..but thats what make him legendary
I was a little kid in the village of northern India, and even I knew his name as the greatest!
@Ron Happold does it matter? if you want to know the specifics it was Sikkim, India
if you need more specifics ask me
but as for my real name, you won't know
be happy with the nickname my friends gave me
I mean who puts their real name on a platform like youtube?😂 Idiots I guess, idiots who want their IP stolen and computer hacked
Thats it right there! To have your name known in remote & isolated corners of the world...that is greatness and shows how big of an impact Michael Jordan had on the game of basketball
Actually his real gov't name can really be Timothy West. There is a huge Christian population in India & you'd be surprised with their American like names

Jordan returns...
All NBA Teams: Ohhhh shit! Here we go again!
If he didnt retire in his prime..he can be number 1 or 2 in scoring list
And people are trying to convince me by saying Lebron James is better than MJ !?
Lebron ist NOT a winner guy... but MJ is a beast on the court !!
He accomplished as much in his first stint with the Bulls as LeBron in his whole career lol
Not remotely true.
@@demorating8168 yeah not true at all. jordan didnt accomplish 'as much' he accomlished way more in his first stint than lebron has his entire career. Did lebron 3peat? nope
@@demorating8168 Completely true
LeBum who. He couldn’t carry MJ’s jockstrap
Jordan has as many rings in three years as LeBron in his whole career. First nine years in the league, three rings and a whole lot of other accolades. LeBron may not have accomplished that much in 16 years.
RESPECT To MJ
He is earning MORE MONEY NOW than what he was earning during his Career😀😀😀
Damn, Peter Vescey a blast from the past. He was like the Adrian Wojnarowski of the 90s
Damn. Sir Charles, KJ, Danny Ainge. The suns were something back then now they're just trash!
Michael Jordan personified excellence.
Yes. That's what I kept coming back to all throughout his career. I've never seen nor noted the drive exhibited by Michael Jordan in _any_ other athlete nor in any individual the same level of the pursuit, attainment and maintainance of excellence.
Absolutely GOAT
“Hey Mike! You look good when you strike out man”
The 3 biggest sports stories , 2 that I was alive for and one I wasn't but can only imagine , but not in any order.
1.) The Thrilla in Manila with Ali and Frazier in the Rubber match.. I can only imagine !
2.) Michael Jordan Leaving the game the first time after his father was murdered, to chase his child hood passion of baseball and I'm sure relive those memories with his deceased father.. (RiP)
3.) And possibly and my favorite moment while I have been alive and I've watched the Great Lebron , was when Michael Jordan came back to the NBA after 2 and a half years. You couldn't measure the hype and pressure , but when he got dialed in again with #45 then switching to #23 later again ,,,, Man ! When he came back like that before the next 3 peat he was allready #1 in my book ! 📖 .. Everyone was going crazy !!! Then of course each year after he beat some fantastic teams that are totally underated that could of probably went on dynasty runs... The passion , heart and cold blooded savagery of getting that ring when he layed on the floor Jesus God Almighty 🙏 !!!! We Felt that soooo much ,,, that could actually be #4 with him on the floor holding the basket ball or was it the trophy ? .. They say MJ is only #2 behind Babe Ruth who was a pitcher that hit over 700 home runs !!!! To me he's #1 .. And so we will always where his shoes lol Amen !! 🙏
gosh i miss this era, bulls dynasty on 90’s by airness mj d🐐
What number will Jordan where when he comes back?
Guy in the back: 43!!!
If Jordan didn't retire bulls win 8 in a row think about that last shot in Utah his last game with the bulls in my opinion then still the same as now he's the #GOAT
they should have made a 1 hour special on espn "THE RETURN"
if mj didnt retired he will grab rings on 1991 to 1998!!! thats dominance of mj and the bulls !!
and if he didn’t retire he will also grab the top 1 career points. surpassing Kareem in shorter seasons
@Notorious1503 idk man I think the 95 rockets would give more trouble but would be interesting
And even in this day and age where they dont play defense, you still cant win a 3-peat. Just ask the warriors.
Air Jordan said 45 is gone and 23 is back in town
I remember that day the Sun-Times paper saying "I'm Back" and me taping it on my room door
stupid jordan.. if he didnt come back the sonics wouldve won the cup
Couldn't wear his own number when he came back because it was retired.
I remember that. It gave me a little anxiety. 1995 was an exciting year with Michael Jordan's return to the Bulls. His return was a real boost.
Phil slick ass knew mike was coming back
Michael Jordan 45 Jersey and Took Off 45 and put on 23 for the Chicago Bulls
@royalsteven then they got rodman in the mix, a rebound specialist, who didnt care about scoring, and pippen had matured during those 2 years to become the best all-around guy. man were they good!
It was more important than the declaration of independance.
Eddy Shluger lmao
The handsome goat of all time
He won 3 rings consecutively then retires. Comes back from retirement and wins another three. LeBron can't do that. so who's the goat now.
It's a hell of alot tougher league now. There's about 8 teams that can win a championship literally. Back then it was really like 4 or 5. So much harder competition. The fact lebrons been to 9 finals. Is an accomplishment of it's own. He beat the worlds best team ever in a great historic comeback. Really how much of a hater can you be?
@@addisonhinson6290 I don't think he's a hater but what you said is pure factual. 9 str8 finals? Beat fhe best team of all time down 3-1 in the finals (a rare accomplishment) plus, literally the top 8 teams in the west win the finals
@@addisonhinson6290 Dude please...
His coming back going to play at the end of 2018- mid 2020
Imagine him injuring himself playing dumb ass baseball... Oh Lawd it all went perfectly.. God bless
I'm surprised that they were telling the truth and not the rumor that he was playing with Bugs Bunny!
Can you imagine if we had social media back then? No doubt the truth of his 'retirement' would've been discovered that he was actually banned from basketball for that time he pursued baseball.
damn magic still looks like same
Black don't cracking just passed bio 101
Lol the man hasnt changed at all, maybe a couple pounds more nowadays because the Lakers suck hairy ass lmao
anyone watching in 2019?
This is the best player who love by all....................................
I think if mj stuck with it, he would have been an average mlb player eventually.
I believe it
But Jordan wants to be the best at whatever he does.
hard to believe this was 28 years ago ...feels like 5 years ago
I never realized Derek Harper still had that much hair at that time
LeBron fans don't realize,MJ retired for 17 months and came back and threepeated, won two more league MVPs, three more Finals MVPs. Cassius Clay returned as Muhammed Ali..
Well RUclips recommendation I watched it. HAPPY NIW
Memories!!!!
Who else watching while waiting on Kawhi?
1:33 C4 Corvette I wonder if it was Z06 or ZR1.MJ has nice taste in cars. "Muscle over Import everytime"
“I think he would make a good addition to this team.”
He had to leave. His gambling would have gotten him a 1 year ban from NBA. He left for a year in a half. Guy used to gamble with straight street gangsters in Chicago. No one knows if he bet on his games tho. He prolly did. But MJ was to big for nba or Nike for that get out
MJ was sports biggest attraction not just the NBA. Gambling had nothing to do with it. You can't toss games and still have the best record and 3 peat. Jordan was a competitor and he had all kind of money off the court with endorsements. He didn't have no money trouble but he was underpaid.
Chuck face says "fuck" 😂
Share, the GOAT.
i think if he didn't retire the 1st time he could have won 94 and 95, but hey he won 6 and some haven't won any so whtever
Derek Harper looks old af man. I thought he was a coach lol
Brady should've done that to generate more excitement that the GOAT is coming back, but he realized he is much older than mj was (44 to mjs 33)
Recommended in July 2019?
2:55 "yea nigga"
What 23 people didn’t MJ’s return to Basketball? Haters All!
Goat
MJ: *wins 3 championships*
also MJ: ehhh im bored lemme try baseball
MJ again: nvm this sucks *comes back and wins 3 more championships just because*
GOAT
If he hadnt retire he probably got 8 rings
The GOAT!!!!!
MJ did something that not even Lebron has been able to do which is 2 three peat!
Imagine if he'd stayed retired in 1999. What a great way to end a career
People sleep on Wizards Jordan but he was droppiing 50s on teams back then aged 40
It was cause he was getting underpaid in his prime by the Bulls and he wanted to own a team.
I mean he scored his last 3000 points with the Wizards.
7:18 Oh shit....Kobe sounds just like mj...he copy him frr😂😂😂
LOVENSKY DEMELIEN lol
Yeah he copied everything Jordan did
he on jordan’s left nut sac. its weird lol
But Kobe didn't retire at 30, and Kobe won't come out of retirement.
He need to come back.
This is why he play
MJ driving all fast they ain't have no laws for driving lmao
Wow Charlotte was like 2nd in Eastern Conference ..
3:28 look how he cruises in like Tony Stark.
Or Bruce Wayne. BullMan is his secret identity.
Good memories
So since then, they've been saying he is the GOAT, why bringing Lebron James in the debate ? Has he done something better than Jordan ?
John Bills first team to win down 3-1 against a 73-9 team
Sun March 19,1995 first game
9:04 what song it is in the speech??????? pls
D'you think MJ would win with kyrie and love on his team?
comme21 yes
Kyrie is a better point than MJ ever had (better than Kerr or BJ), and Love is a better offensive threat in the post than MJ ever had, too. So yes. Jordan and Kyrie on the perimeter together would've been deadly.
The better comparison is if MJ could've won with that trash Cavs roster before LeBron left for Miami. 😂
Clayton C. - Won what? Those Cavs didn't win any Chips. Do I think MJ could've led those teams on a couple deep playoff runs in 7-8 seasons? Absolutely. Especially against some of those trash teams Lebron faced in the East. Tbh though, those Cavs teams were more known for skunking it up in the playoffs.
Yes
Hell yeah
I was in my teens and 20s when MJ played. I'm sure you can guess why my friend named his son Jordan. That wasn't possible for me as I have girls. Maybe I would have gone for Elway.
Let's have a game.
