  • Warning - this hunting film contains scenes that may offend
    Viewers discretion strongly advised
Here is Part 5 of Andre Alipate and Jamie Carle's 7 day hunt into Victoria's High Country in pursuit of Sambar
Please note that the animal taken by Andre is a mature hind, not a young spiker - as referred to initially during the stalk. It's bone growths on its skull were mistaken for early stages of velvet.
    This follows on from:
    Part 1 www.youtube.co....
    Part 2 • Part 2 - Sambar Huntin...
    Part 3 • Part 3 - Sambar Huntin...
    Part 4 • Part 4 - Sambar Huntin...
I aim to wrap up days 6 and 7 into one film (Part 6), to round off the series. I aim to do this within the next week. Tune in for what happens next... more deer encounters in the final hours of hunt than what we have seen for the previous 5 days...
Until then, feel free to share this series of films with family and friends.
And please don't forget to show your support with leaving a like, comment and SUBSCRIBE!
    Cheers
    Jamie

Would love to have you make an educational video solely about hunting in different types of terrain (bush, hill country, alpine) under different types of weather conditions based on your experience. Taking into account time of day (morning, afternoon, evening), sunny/overcast/mix, wind direction, animals activity level (feeding, bedding, transition between feeding and bedding). A video covering as many basic scenarios as possible.

Thanks mate, that is a big ask - and as much I would love to attempt such project(s) - I think there are FAR more qualified people out there than I am to pull together such a comprehensive video. I guess though, I am shedding light on (my version(s) of) hunting different game, at different times of the year in small bite size chunks with the release of each hunting film. In addition to the film media I have been slowly putting up since Jan 2018, I have previously covered a range of backpack hunting topics as a regular columnist for the NZ Hunter Magazine for 4 ~years (I wrote ~24 Issues in total) covering a variety of topics re: hunting chamois, tahr, red deer, sika, pigs, fiordland wapiti and sambar at almost any season (spring, summer, autumn, winter) and in a wide variety of terrain (easy stuff, hard stuff). And I have written other articles on my personal hunting website which may be useful/ insightful www.mountainman.co.nz - although I am well overdue to totally overhaul that website with more content that is filled away in note books. But I feel very privileged that you've considered my suitability for such a task. Cheers Jamie

Thanks for taking the time and thorough answer. Really feel you should do a seperate video on that topic regarding the amounts of experience you have. Although you mention bits and pieces here and there. Would be great to have specific video/content that talks just about strategy. May I ask if you are at liberty to share your articles for NZ Hunter Magazine regarding red deer, sika, wapiti and sambar? At last, really enjoy your films. Shows that you really care about hunting, the animals and the environment! Big compliment!

Mate you have not only worked hard while hunting but to put this video together as well as you have is a credit to both you and Andre. To take a couple of animals in the way that you did is just icing on the cake. I was looking forward to this video and it was fantastic to watch the days events unfold. Thanks for sharing and a top job also on the narration.

Thanks Robbo, its a pleasure to share in a passion that I have so much energy and time for. And to hear and read that others not only enjoy it too but to see messages and emails where people say they are motivated to get out there and give it a go, is fantastic. My attitude towards anything is that we are all only here on this planet for a short while and in that time we should do as much learning and knowledge sharing (and passing on of the baton) as possible. And my hunting journeys will one day (not anytime soon i hope) come to an end, so by filming and sharing the experiences I am hoping those stories, journeys, and
the ups and the downs can still be enjoyed by others. Thanks for being in my corner, cheers

thanks brother, I feel the same way about this one. Every adventure with Andre is certainly one for the memory bank, and before I took up filming, I used to take photos of all our trips. The dozen photo albums (literally thousands of photos) are full of very special memories from hunting with Dre (and others) in some pretty remote and rugged terrain, and in all sorts of weather conditions. And while I cherish those memories captured as a moment frozen in time, there is nothing quite like being able to express what those moments mean to me than with film. I am only 7 months into this film making journey and i feel like i am only just scratching the surface. It's a very exciting feeling!! cheers for watching, much appreciated

That's magic, and your films are magic. They get better and better with each one. I'm heading out for a stalk with my brother this weekend, my freezer is full so maybe I'll take the mavic instead of a rifle and get some footage instead. Legend mate, keep it up.

cheers davey, yes i must admit, from my own experiences I seem to take away more in terms of fulfillment from the hunts where more effort and time is invested not only during the hunt, but all the months of preparation (training, planning, research, equipment trialing, equipment purchases, map reading etx ...). I am already throughly looking forward to the next hunt in several weeks time. A new spot to explore on the map :)

I think those deer might have been sneaking of to do a maccas run during the day thats why you didnt see many and they had fatty organs

Great u show your human side thinking of the animal ... many that knock us will throw multiple uneaten chickens away after Christmas dinner without thought yet critisize us for hunting ... being humain is part of being a good hunter ... hard work pays off . Enjoyed this vid cheers

Again an awesome watch mate. Great to see you both finally get your quarry and you manage to get a nice stag and some prime venison. To get it all on film is a bonus as you know but cannot always be accomplished unfortunately.
I have seen them with plenty of fat on when in velvet and just about finished stripping velvet.
    Look forward to watching no:6.
Cheers and safe hunting to you both.

Love the bare feet stalking. Reminds me of Sika hunting in the kaimanawas as a young fella trying to stay quiet behind the old boy and not get the death stare 😂😂😂

cheers mate, yes the kaimanawas has some dry northern faces of beech forest which can be very noisy. Ive also done the same with sika, sneaking around in neoprene booties. thanks for watching

glad you enjoyed it HD, think my (dropped) shooting footage resembles one of your recent clips, although at least you could still see you haha. I certainly take my hat off to those of you who manage to capture stags on film; amazing. Cheers for watching

Its not what u get it’s how u achieve it some are hunters and some are shooters there’s a difference I no ever stag I have taken has a story I can tell in great depth many years after the hunt
