Cancer isn't something to be trivialised, glossed over or treated like some minor inconvenience. Cancer scares everyone because it kills people we love every single day. Someone pretending to have cancer when they don't is unforgivable because it plays on people's emotions, causing great harm to cancer patients struggling to cope with major illness leaving them exhausted, unable to function or even keep food down. To imply it's as simple as happily trotting off to work after some minor treatment is extremely unhelpful, and a form of denial. It also damages the self esteem of people struggling to cope with serious disease.
