I'm late to the party and recently watched Severance. Absolutely fell in love with this show! One thing though, the subreddit seems to be plagued with bad-takes. I appreciate your perspective and like that you go through a range of theories and discuss their Merit. Something I haven't seen you comment on yet, but maybe because I missed a video, was that the editor the journalist corresponds with I'm the Lexington Letters is a Milchick. Shortly after that Milchick learns about Peggy, she is eliminated. Maybe they were already after Peggy, but maybe her attempt to share her story got her killed... *tin foil* the accident means she was dragged back to Lumen to become permanently severed. *more tinfoil* as you mentioned before, Gemma may have gone down the same way. So potentially Milchicks are a powerful family linked with Lumen/Eagens.
oh my goodness,Innies!!! we got something!!!!! i also wanted to get it in the fall but at least we got a date and its not far off...cheers,Everyone! We're close!
A theory I have after watching severance for the nth time: In episode 1 Mark says to Helly: "I just bet it'll make you feel right as rain." I know that's an idiom, but something about the way Mark emphasized it, made me dwell on it. Later that episode, during the "no food dinner", the blonde lady says about Lumon: "They began in the 18 hundreds. Topical salves." Soooo... maybe the topical salves have some kind of mind-altering quality to them. This salve could also be in the "soap" dispensers, which is why they aren't labelled and employees are required to wash their hands with it up to 10 times a day. So Mark saying "you feel right as rain" could mean, that after it rains, the salve is washed away properly for the first time (since Lumon also might control the water systems and might put that salve in there too) and people actually feel "right"/ like their true selves for the first time since applying the salve. But I'm not sure how Innie Mark could know this, but maybe this is subconscious information? Would love to hear your thoughts on this :) I binged all your Severance videos in 1 day, so thank you for making them extremely enjoyable :D
Hey I have a theory about the elevator.. before I speak on it I wanted to say your breakdowns and theories are incredible. Okay, when workers are sent in the elevator it is a transition from obviously a different floor but also a transition from outtie to inny. This is the trigger that activates the brain chip. I think that the elevator in the dark hallway (the one Irv’s outtie keeps obsessively painting) that Jemma is sent to is another transition to another floor and a different inny. Inner inny if you will 🥲. I think Lumon is defying the limits of the brain and continuously splicing peoples innys. I think that evidence of multiple splicing is when there seem to be memories slips or sub conscious recollection. Not sure if you will see this but I wanted to give my obsession for great tv and thinking a try 😊. Thanks for reading.
I wouldn't be surprised if the testing floor is where the innies go who live in Lumon. The place where they are never let out like Peteys map showed. It also may have to do with Ms. Casey's car accident and if it damaged her or did kill Gemma in some way. Maybe those innies just get shut down outside of work.
I think the new character at the end of the trailer is Ms Cobel who changed body. Half joking because of previous theories about her having her child personality in her severed or non severed ‘state’. If I remember correctly… which now I’m not sure I am The line “you should have left” could make sense in that context too - a character knowing Marc and Helly’s background telling them they made a mistake coming back. How great it is to speculate on very little☺️
(Repost from another vid) For any ladies that read this; notice how they’re always showing Helly’s fingers? How many of you paint your nails day after day after day with the same color? Notice how it’s the same day after day and it’s not chipped at all. Also, the polish is always up to the cuticle, with no space (nail growth). So, that must mean she’s painting (or having them painted) the same color every day. Then, she wears the same color at the gala. I know that my wife wouldn’t. I’m wondering how many of you might do that.
I believe something happens at the Lumon meeting beyond just chaos. Perhaps outty Helly forms a tenuous alliance with inny Helly? I mean, this would explain her stealthy walk across the bridge in the outty evening gown. Plans in the making. Or maybe it was an infiltration all along, and outty Helly was so deep undercover that she could not even disclose everything to her inny.
Yup loved this show when it started heating up, if your finding it hard to get thru the first episode or two give it a chance it soon heats up to a very intriguing "whats going to happen next" keeping you guesding show!! Especially near the end.
And now that I’ve been thinking about it more, there could be two reasons for this: 1) Innie Mark keeps getting rebellious. 2) Maybe there is a correlation between mind-wipes and re-integration. The latter idea would be particularly interesting, as it would give both Lumon and outie Mark reasons to stay at Lumon: outie Mark wants to find his wife, and Lumon wants to perfect the severance procedure, and Mark might be the perfect lab rat.
Wanted to share a theory I only saw one person post on a site for tv articles that i had NEVER seen before, if you discussed it on this channel I may have just missed it? they theorized that that the severed procedure makes the innies unable to process visual information correctly, which makes the "numbers" elicit emotions, has the baby goats making no real sense, makes O&D just assume they're producing seemingly random items, and makes that "very important card" that Dylan hid appear as random martial arts instructions. Maybe In not in the scene enough, but this is the most realistic/likely theory that I've seen that I somehow have missed people talking about !
I see what you're saying but Read Only communication with the brain is difficult enough and that is all Neuralink is looking to do right now. If you want Read Write communication to the brain you are talking about a much harder issue. In theory we might see that tech some day but I bet Read Only reliable communication is at least 20 years away and I do not know if there will ever be a read/write option.
I'm willing to bet this show has two levels, the exoteric for the masses and the esoteric for the red pilled. Seems to me the esoteric meaning relates to the concept of incarnating into a lower dimension which to the soul is a borderline hell-hole. Ergo why you have the characters descending to become an "innie" and why HELLy wakes up in S1E1 on a table shaped like a coffin with no memory of who she actually is. Plus it's a trap. The illusion that tricks her into returning is priceless. Reminds me of how Kubick said The Shining was essentially about an evil process of reincarnation. Severance on the exoteric level is really juicy, probably something along the lines of AI becoming human but requires testing. Everything there is weird, like AI (or aliens) trying to mimic humanity. I'm getting an 1899 vibe for sure. This show is one of the best mystery box shows out there. Would've been 1899 but of course Netflix is run by idiots.
I feel like this season is going to be a reverse. Lumon might wipe there memories of the last few weeks so the innies will be clueless but now the outies will be aware of something not being right. But then the innies might run into someone from optics and designs and there like “bruh we just met you 2 weeks ago”
So cool yet so very, very frustrating! I sure hope they can meet our heightened expectations after making us wait so f**king long… To me, the most interesting clip in the trailer is the overhead shot of multiple people walking through snow. Could it be the MDR team escaping the building together and running off into the surrounding woods? The rest of the shots could be anything and are quite possibly just some mundane but intriguing-looking clips. Even the "you should have left" line might not be anything of importance. The people who put these trailers together are very good at misdirection. I want to see Devon on the severed floor this season. Like they sneak her in somehow (or she sneaks herself in) to prove to her that Ms. Casey is Mark’s not-so-dead wife. Something along those lines. I think Devon will be more central to the narrative this season - she knows too much! But the trailer was missing one very important thing. WHERE ARE THE BABY GOATS?!?
My birthday is the 12th, so I’ll take it as a present 😂😂😂. Although it would have been so cool to have an October release in time for the Halloween type vibe.
I believe that Irv know Burt because he use to work in the same department together, but something may have happened that made them have to get reset. There is a reason that Irv knows about that hallway that Ms Casey went down., and why his outie keeps painting it.
I mean, as much as I don’t want them to reset and forget everything, Lumen is definitely going to “sever” them again to forget all about it. But Irving might have been wiped several times before due to his office romance, and his split mind is starting to converge, so he’s a clue to what might happen to them. There’s a chance they’ll remember glimpses of what happened throughout the season, so flashbacks are possible. The Alice in Wonderland hallway could be a hallucination about the “maze” of hallways ie navigating the maze of their minds as they’re either wiped or when they’re getting their memories back. Either way, I know Im going to be frustrated the first few episodes back when they get wiped but hopefully it will be satisfying in the end.
What I don’t understand is why everyone down there is almost child-like, but Helly. She comes in, and remains, very skeptical. She’s discontented. She’s way more curious than the others. She’s driven to get out more. She’s very extreme in everything. I’m not saying that it’s a bad trait. I’m just saying that she’s nothing like the others. Why is that? Does her chip work differently? Is it that there’s just some people that don’t adapt or accept their situation, and aren’t as curious?
I thought about it more in a psychological aspect. All her life with her father, he indoctrinated her and manipulated her to love and obey his agenda. So maybe shes disagree on the inside but never show it as the outie. And as an innie shes letting it all out. The "rebel" inside of her shines out.
We've also never seen another severed employee's transition period. It's outright stated that Mark didn't conform easily either but something happened in his start that allowed him to get a special reward, the glass (not sure what it's called) frame of himself that swivels back and forth, that allowed him to "accept" his circumstances. Something that Helly hasn't experienced.
@@candypan1 True. It’s a laser etched photo. There’s just too many unknowns in season one. I’m very curious about the romantic relationships. Burt and Irv develop something and it seems that Helly is with Mark. The obviously are well aware of what sexual relations are, they’re not very child-like with that part. “Baby goats”😂. In a newscast there was mention of a woman becoming pregnant. Mark and Ms. (Gemma) Casey don’t remember each other, but she seems to fixate on Mark to a degree. The Gemma-Mark situation is obviously big in the storyline, but now we have Helly and Mark getting close. I’d like to know more about where they’ll go with that, as well as what’s going to happen with Irv at Burt’s door. We know that Irv knows something about Burt because he was one of the names on his list. He may only know his name and where he lives, like he does with other employees, and never actually met him.
@@candypan1 Here’s something that I caught, though unrelated to what we were talking about; in regard to Ricken’s weird friends, people have speculated about how some or all of them may be severed as well. There was Patton at Ricken’s “dinner” party and his odd conversation as well as the last episode when he was hoping to get credit for finding the baby. “I’m the one who found your child!”. Odd thing to say, especially for a grown man, and actually not being the first to find her. And, Rebeck has some kind of small injury on her head that she said came from a bird. Might she have been told that and it’s actually a surgical cut. I’m probably not the only one to be suspicious about those things. Somebody had to think that up before me, for sure. But, what’s your take on that?
When the woman says “you should have left”, Helly is breathing really really hard, and Mark looks like he’s in shock. I think they Mark & Helly found something they should not have, and the woman that makes that statement caught them in there. I agree with @tybrown7112 - she looks like the woman from the Perpetuity wing.
I know you said the board might have some questions for Helena, but if Helly is any indication of what Helena's personality is like, it seems more likely to me that she would have questions for the board. Helly prefers fight over flight. I could see Helena confronting the board, management, whoever and asking how they could let this happen.
Prediction: All of season 1 was a simulation. The shot of Helly walking in the hallway in the evening dress reminds me of when Milcheck walked her into Lumen to get the brain implant. Maybe they are doing experiments on all of them but they never actually leave the building. It's all a big experiment on neuralink in a confined space where people genuinely did choose to leave to be subjects to test the implant technology but unknowingly became the subjects of the failures of the brain implants and the company's intent melding with their own imaginations based on their own perceptions formed from before working at Lumen. That would explain the bizarre sense of space and time and bizarre unexplained Twin Peaks like nightmare scenes. I can already feel my gears start to work but I'll stop so I don't watch season 1 for the 5th time and get my brain going wild either theories. Gotta save that energy. I hope season 3 doesn't take so damn long after season 2. Even a year wait for season 3 seems too long after a 3 year delay. The first season was filmed during lockdowns. We should be getting out of that production pipeline bottleneck by now. EVERYONE I have recommended the show to loves it.
On a different note - where in the building is Ms. Cobel’s office? Is it on an upper level? It seems like it because of all the sunlight. I’m asking because if Ms. Cobel works upstairs, and Helly took the elevator upstairs, wouldn’t Helly (innie) have turned into Helena (outie)...and wondered why she had a paper cutter in her hands? Perhaps Ms. Cobel’s office is downstairs - but where? Odd question, I know, but it’s one I’ve been thinking on for about a week. Thank you, Nautilus, for awesome analysis and commentary. We appreciate you! 🙂
My thought was the the person saying “you should have left” or whatever it was that was exactly said was that she’s the new security person having an interaction with one of our people after an incident
The way I ran to your channel after the release of the trailer 😅 I think we’re going back to the past. Irving and Mark have surely been there before (the way Cobel & Milchick treat them). It would be so fun to see how they get to the same point in different ways! Maybe Ricken’s four other books helped them realise 😂 (also: no Devon or Ricken in the teaser? I feel like Ricken’s story is nowhere near fleshed out & Devon has to play a part given the revelation in the season finale!!) Here I go obsess again…
Too long ahhhh I'm tantruming lol And when I watched Severance the first (of too many to admit) times I got to straight line binge it. This time we have to WAIT in between episodes. I'm so bad at this ... Plus when I think about what's going on in the world January 2025 feels like a fever dream..
seems like 'you should have left' is for mark - its likely that marks sister asks him to quit in season 2 after finding out cobel is the boss, and mark decides not to quit to get gemma back
is it possible in the last scene, Helly and Mark have found themselves on the Testing Floor? they seem really freaked out, and acting like they've never seen anything like this place. and the new female character seems like she's ready to get down to business, whatever that is! 😳 and of course, could just be another weird department they've found 🤔 i just don't know..
All I gotta say is since we've been waiting so long they need to drop 2 -3 episodes January 17. I'll be happy but disappointed if they drop 1 episode after being gone for so long.
Hello, everyone; I hope you all are well. I have one possible idea for the MDR work. What if the refiners were refining goats' fluids to find molecules corresponding to the four temperaments? To explain further, according to Hippocrates' theory of bodily fluids, temperaments originate from changes in bodily fluids-blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm. What if Lumon Industries wanted to identify and separate specific molecules (and they could use the goats for this purpose) to use these molecules to induce specific behaviors in people? For example, by injecting these molecules into water or their products, they can manipulate people. The refiner’s job would be to separate the molecules from the total mass and store them in bins. These molecules could be used to induce certain behaviors in whoever Lumon wants (e.g., making someone more violent or more depressed). In this way, MDR would be refining not the leftover data but the raw material that goes into the bins. Their chips and personal capabilities could be unique to perform this specific task. Each file can be a particular goat. The job might be time-sensitive because, after killing the goats to extract the fluids, there is a limited window of time before it decays completely... imagine they use goats instead of actual human beings, what would be even more creepy...… so, what do you think?
Thought maybe Helly wasn't actually down on all fours, but was hunched over as if to get a better look at something... A baby goat maybe? Also thought "newGirl" looked a little disheveled and messy... Like she had been wrangling farm animals or something.
Me, laid out on the floor throwing a tantrum: "But I don't wanna wait until January!!" 😭😭😭

I completely agree lol
legit, best show ive ever seen.
The woman at the end looks like one of those wax figures in that hall of past CEOs.
oh my goodness,Innies!!! we got something!!!!! i also wanted to get it in the fall but at least we got a date and its not far off...cheers,Everyone! We're close!
They goofed - they have the show in the bag, why make us wait? Now I'm just gonna drop my sub. until the new year.
@@richiehoyt8487 yeah I agree. I think I watched every show that I was interested in on Apple and just dropped it.
Gwendoline Christie! I knew she was cast but this is EXCITING!! She looks wild.
Great video thank you as always! You’re awesome
Ohhh yay I have been waiting for this ❤
A theory I have after watching severance for the nth time: In episode 1 Mark says to Helly: "I just bet it'll make you feel right as rain." I know that's an idiom, but something about the way Mark emphasized it, made me dwell on it.
Lumon's logo is a waterdrop, so you could be onto something.
You r brilliant!!! Great theory!
You guys notice that Milcheck is wearing a suit? Maybe he got a promotion at lumon so they can piss Cobel off
I think the new character at the end of the trailer is Ms Cobel who changed body. Half joking because of previous theories about her having her child personality in her severed or non severed ‘state’. If I remember correctly… which now I’m not sure I am
The line “you should have left” could make sense in that context too - a character knowing Marc and Helly’s background telling them they made a mistake coming back.
How great it is to speculate on very little☺️
(Repost from another vid)
For any ladies that read this; notice how they’re always showing Helly’s fingers? How many of you paint your nails day after day after day with the same color? Notice how it’s the same day after day and it’s not chipped at all. Also, the polish is always up to the cuticle, with no space (nail growth). So, that must mean she’s painting (or having them painted) the same color every day. Then, she wears the same color at the gala. I know that my wife wouldn’t. I’m wondering how many of you might do that.
I cannot wait! I will definitely watch Season 1 again very soon
I’M SO EXCITED
I believe something happens at the Lumon meeting beyond just chaos. Perhaps outty Helly forms a tenuous alliance with inny Helly? I mean, this would explain her stealthy walk across the bridge in the outty evening gown. Plans in the making. Or maybe it was an infiltration all along, and outty Helly was so deep undercover that she could not even disclose everything to her inny.
Since 2022??? Its must be perfect!!!!
I have been watching your channel for a hot minute and I just realized I’m not subscribed. Whoops! Love your posts!
i’m so freaking excited
Perfect. Everyone us choice specific for they job. For sure. Perhaps Haley is the perfect boss for this new world.
Ah! You saw it, too!!!
I got a bunch of messages about it the night before. I woke up rearin to go lol
Yup loved this show when it started heating up, if your finding it hard to get thru the first episode or two give it a chance it soon heats up to a very intriguing "whats going to happen next" keeping you guesding show!! Especially near the end.
The montage of Mark waking up on the table in various clothes might indicate multiple mind wipes.
And now that I’ve been thinking about it more, there could be two reasons for this:
1) Innie Mark keeps getting rebellious.
@@patrickferguson5962good theory! Why else would they allow him back every time? I can’t wait
Interesting!
immediately thought of your channel when i saw the trailer :)
Theyre literally showing us how scary Neuralink will be when it comes into popular use
When mark stops at the end of the hallway, i think there is no longer a stairwell to quit from, i think hes more stuck than he expected
Finally….FINALLY!!!!!!!
BEEN WAITING 2 years!!! AHHHH!!!!
A 3 year wait is crazy
Weird. Season 2 is starting exactly one week (7 days) before the 41st anniversary of the original Macintosh being available in retail stores.
So cool yet so very, very frustrating! I sure hope they can meet our heightened expectations after making us wait so f**king long…
To me, the most interesting clip in the trailer is the overhead shot of multiple people walking through snow.
Almost three damn years between 1 and 2 😩😖 let's hope the wait for season 3 isn't as long
I think the scenes of MDR personnel entering the elevator is their first day at work . Helly was wearing the same outfit on her first day
I just had a theory maybe Helly is crawling in that tight space because it’s an area only accessible to those goats 😮
My birthday is the 12th, so I’ll take it as a present 😂😂😂. Although it would have been so cool to have an October release in time for the Halloween type vibe.
NGL it would also be awesome if the person on the bike is Petey's daughter.
Finally, we have a date! it is annoying that it is next year, but it'll be worth it.
Yesss let's goo
Milchick is Natilus! Hear me out..
You're not supposed to find that out until season 3 😂
@@nautilusfiles love all you do man, started watching FROM because I saw it on your channel, got soooo hooked and got all my fam to watch it too hah!
@@nautilusfiles some of us have had our suspicions! 🤨
In the opening shot, by the way, there's some random people in the front of the building. Looks like they may be rolling up the carpet after the gala
Also, kinda seems like that Cobel shot is at Ricken and Devon's house
@@FruitCompanyMedia Was thinking this too!
@@danilevi8008
Good hypothesis!!
@@candypan1
True.
@@candypan1
Here’s something that I caught, though unrelated to what we were talking about; in regard to Ricken’s weird friends, people have speculated about how some or all of them may be severed as well.
But, what’s your take on that?
ive become a flurpy for all my felpers
Anyone know if they dropped all of season 1 at the same time or weekly?
Except her light green security badge is giving off O&D vibes.
@@veroniquebellamy4741 oops good point
The way I ran to your channel after the release of the trailer 😅 I think we’re going back to the past. Irving and Mark have surely been there before (the way Cobel & Milchick treat them). It would be so fun to see how they get to the same point in different ways! Maybe Ricken’s four other books helped them realise 😂 (also: no Devon or Ricken in the teaser? I feel like Ricken’s story is nowhere near fleshed out & Devon has to play a part given the revelation in the season finale!!)
Here I go obsess again…
I agree, I keep thinking about how Regabhi was so certain innie Mark would know what to do with Graner's key card.
@@AstroBlack24 good catch!

seems like 'you should have left' is for mark - its likely that marks sister asks him to quit in season 2 after finding out cobel is the boss, and mark decides not to quit to get gemma back

Oh, I thought the lady at the end is myrtle eagan🙆🏻♂️
I completely forgot about this show.
is it possible in the last scene, Helly and Mark have found themselves on the Testing Floor? they seem really freaked out, and acting like they've never seen anything like this place. and the new female character seems like she's ready to get down to business, whatever that is!
January? AAAAAAAAA
