You are definitely the best How-To Channel use DaVinci on RUclips. You have helped me learn DaVinci more than I could ever express in this comment. Many blessing to you.
Jason you do make me laugh, you’re basement is bigger than my entire house !!! Great Video and excited for you for your new Studio space .. you deserve it mate !
Well, I had my own stuff to take care of this a.m. but I saw my alert about this video- oops- schedule upheaval- I HAVE to see Jay's studio! raht now! Well done, man, and you are a PRO DIY guy! You kept saying 4 outlets and I said, Oh, no, that's not enough for a videographer! I should never 2nd guess you because then you pulled out the Quad outlets! 🤣 Too good, man! Yeah! 4x4=16. Plus additionals on power surge-protection panels! Whoo-hoo, electricity forever, toss all those annoying rechargeables. Hey, great new studio, love the sound curtains instead of hard walls and the new elbow room for stress reduction. RE, the mics: They are terrific, although the first 2-3 minutes of the video sounded a little boom-ish, IMHO, but that settled down so maybe it was just initial start-up issues. That is what testing is for, right?! When you got to the point of editing the sound I heard very little difference so maybe you only needed some tweaking, which would mean some pretty good raw audio was coming from those mics. Thanks for this great video- it's great to see you working out of a dream studio now! [So that's what basements are for! 🤣]
Hi Jason lav sounds good and studio is coming along. While your at it get some black pipe and paint it and hang a 8 foot section from the beam so you can get a few super clamps and get your lighting or boom mic off the floor. I mean you are really handy. 😅 nice video.
I think you just forgot the Mac mini from the description, believe is still the great and trustworthy M1 right? btw, great content! thanks for the tutorials on Davinci!
Great set-up. However, the mics sound scratchy (maybe RUclips compression). When you went from RAW audio to DaVinci it was rather hot, bordering on distortion.
I used to use Drobos, but since they went out of business and my died, I switched to using the Other World Computing Thunderbay 8. It's a direct attached raid storage solution. I went with direct attached instead of a NAS because I can backup unlimited Data to Backblaze for $60 if I have direct attached storage (I have 20TB backed up on back blaze) but if I had a NAS, I'd have to pay a ton more money for the same amount of data - hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Oh, my goodness! Do you really use this monster camera to just shoot some videos for RUclips? And did you you purchase it for this purpose? And is it worth it?
I do film all of my RUclips videos on the Canon C100 MK II. I did purchase it for this reason, I picked it up used at a great deal. I already had all the lenses, so I only needed the body. It’s a little bit of an older cinema camera, but it does a great job for RUclips. 😁
Did it manually. I used a solid color generator effect already in Resolve, made it only 1 frame long, then added a shutter sound effect. Boom! Effect complete. 😜
@@JasonYadlovski By a controller I mean that thing you are holding at 12:04. You call it a "box". This "box"contains an electronic unit, that transforms 110 AC to a lower voltage DC. It also lets you change the temperature of the light and, probably, dim it. At 12:04 I see at least two such "boxes".
Oh got it, I though you were talking about the studio lights, not the ceiling lights. They are just wired up like any household lights. All on one switch.
When you U figure all the Mics and other things you have to add to the RODE Wireless system with another $200 you have all that and more plus it's professional equipment. I use a real Video camera with both 3.5 and XLR inputs. Making My type of Video with a Still camera with video capabilities don't work. It's not the camera is the Lenses, No reasonably priced Parfocal with Power Zoom.
@@JasonYadlovski I love basements. They're everywhere in parts of North America, where you need your building foundations below the frost line (or something). You just about never see them here in Australia though (where our frost line is.. Antarctica).
Awesome job man! Everything looks great. Thanks for sharing! It’s cool to get a little behind the scenes look. I was a little surprised to see you get everything done on a Mac mini. Is that the M2 Pro Mac mini that came out this year?

Awesome, glad my channel has been helpful! Doing my best to help as many people as I can! 😜
Can never go wrong with more space! Looking good! Saramonic does a good job, sounds great!
Thanks for checking out the vid!

This equipment is enough to shoot a nice Hollywood movie!
Haha, I doubt that. But it is some sweet gear for sure!

Amazing set up man that is great. Also the music you used. Wow incredible keep it up.
Thanks so much for checking on the video, I appreciate it! 😁👍
Awesome. Congratulations for your new Studio!
Thanks so much! Off to make content for you guys!
New studio is awesome, Jason 🤘🙏. Great video - cheers man 🙏
Thanks Gary! Hopefully I can be more productive for my RUclips Community! 😜

I think so too!

😜👍😁
Never heard about acoustic blankets before.
It’s kind of like a moving blanket, a big, thick, heavy blanket that absorbs sound. The ones I have are from a website called VocalBoothToGo

Btw do you have videos or recommendations for storage solutions with Da vinci resolve, nas system etc. any advice. Looking for huge storage capacity.

Were the lights manufactured in the USA?

Did you do this at 18:44 manually or there is a preset for it?
Did it manually. I used a solid color generator effect already in Resolve, made it only 1 frame long, then added a shutter sound effect. Boom! Effect complete. 😜
Did you connect the socket line to a GFCI to prevent an electric shock?
The breaker is GFCI, so the entire line is protected.
@@JasonYadlovski Well done then! Safety is the first priority when it comes to electrics.
Is it legal in the USA to install sockets by yourself, if you are not a licensed electrician?
Yes, as long as you do it to code. Which I do. 😁 I've done a lot of electrical over the years.
@@JasonYadlovski Electrical skills are very important nowadays, when everything is running on electrical power.
@@JasonYadlovski And have you ever had a license for this?
Is there one controller for all the lights or a separate controller for each of the lights?
I can’t control them separate or I can link them all together and only have to adjust one.
@@JasonYadlovski So, there are as many controllers, as the lights, not one controller for all the lights, right?
There’s no controllers, everything is done right on the light it’sself.

What happened to the sound at 16:56 and a few seconds after?
I ran out of breath 😯

Totally true. Also the lenses are where it's at. All canon L glass for me. 😜
Is it an underground basement, beneath the Earth's surface?
Yes

@@AndyMaherVoicePro In hot climates basements are good in summer, they don't require much air conditioning.

Thanks! It's an M1 Mac mini with 16 GB of Ram. It gets the job done well for me. Resolve runs so smooth on macs.
