This run occurred at some point in a 10-hour stream, which occurred 16 days (160 hours of gameplay) after the last run I uploaded. You're removing a 42-minute segment from the context of everything that led up to and surrounded it (and wouldn't it make sense that the more focused attempts would result in the runs that actually succeed?)
@@SHiFTss I momentarily thought something similar to his comment, but it took my bare minimum use of critical thinking to assume that this is the record *because* you paid your attention to the goal rather than the stream.
@ kidx a lot of the time something really awful happens to the run immediately before the one that makes it to the end because the frustration and focus to run it back pushes it to the point where there's actually a chance. Also I understand a lot of people have a hard time wrapping their heads around finding entertainment in a relatively quiet stream with occasional discussions when RUclips videos are heavily-edited to always be engaging. This is just a stream VOD but the gameplay makes it worth watching when it's not live either way.

So theoretically, if you did a 100% speed run with the dupe spatulas, you could end the game with 102 spatulas? I guess I’m confused on the dupe Mr krabs spatulas concepts
You can theoretically get 116 spatulas iirc but they just get slower as you get more. Only 2 are fast enough for the run at the moment. Interestingly, if we didn't have cruise boosting, 3 would be fast.

Why do you hit Bubblebuddy coming out of Sandy's treedome
Bubble Buddy's text is used to interrupt Mr. Krabs when you buy the 3,000 spatula for the second time (not to be mistaken with the one at the start of the run). Interrupting Krabs shifts the next purchase to the 3,500 spatula while still leaving the buy condition open for the first. Because the first spatula was already bought once at the start of the run, the buy condition for the second spatula is already open, whereas not doing this would just cause spatulas 2-8 in the sequence to softlock. Since the buy condition is left open for the first in the sequence due to the Bubble Buddy interruption, it can be purchased again if the game state changes (completing a major boss).
So in short, because we "duped" the 3,000 spatula at the beginning and interrupted Krabs while purchasing the 3,000 spatula in the middle of the run, we can buy a third 3,000 spatula again later after purchasing 9 at that point (so long as we have under 3,000 shiny objects at some point when being in talking range of Mr. Krabs toward the end of the run, and then have over 3,000 later to buy it). This allows us to buy a total of 10 Krabs spatulas throughout the run with precise shiny object management, especially during the Pier section where we generate a chaotic amount of money. Depending on the number we generate from Skee-Ball Abuse, we may have to destroy extra tikis and/or purchase extra clams to raise and lower the shiny count to be within ~450-500 shiny objects under 3,000 before Kelp Forest, and over 3,000 before Graveyard. Late levels with optional/mandatory clams/tolls are placed before Kelp Forest, levels with optional/mandatory shiny boosts with no clams are placed after.

I don't swing by stream often but it's kinda? nice to know Shift still doing his thing and stomping all competition.
BFBB speedrunning isn't my niche but he's gotten me into speedrunning other games I used to love and seeing if there's anything I can break or optimize.
for the most part it's a no-go but I've found a few potential games that I plan on full-sending when I get the time.
S tier community leader easy, I just hope Shift takes some time for himself at some point and can take a dang break to actually pursue his passions beyond this specific community. the upkeep has to be daunting and I really hope fellerino takes some mental time for himself to reset if not pass the torch entirely.
you've done fantastic dude. beyond what a normal person would and then some. take some time for yourself and do what you enjoy to take a good long mental break, we'll all be waiting when you re-arrive even if someone else temporarily takes your throne. we all know your name, easy.

edit: I really want to mention that Shift is by far my fav speedrunner of all time. he gets upset, he messes up. he chugs on.
by a landslide this fella is a role model for pushing forward.
I just wish he'd take at least a small break to refresh himself and get himself resituated. I feel evaluation and taking a break are important steps in progression, personally. learn from mistakes, take a break and think about those lessons here and there before devoting yourself again and applying experience from those mistakes.
