- Do you look at failure as a positive thing? Failure is always a great opportunity to learn something new. Failure is a stepping stone to success, mistakes can make us experts at what we are trying to do. You are figuring out how to do it better, discovering what doesn’t work, finding a new approach. This applies to many things in life, from art to relationships to cooking to school to work. The only time there’s true failure is if you stop trying. The mistake doesn’t matter as much as what you do next. Success sometimes has to do more with persistence than anything else.
In my ceramics work I know that if I started to fear failure or get discouraged by it, I most likely wouldn’t try anything new. And sometimes an idea I was imagining doesn’t work the first time or second time. This hibiscus flower plate actually cracked with the first couple I made - clay can hold a lot of tension and certain shapes can crack in the drying phase. But once I got over that moment of disappointment, there was the chance to try again - and to use what I’d learned to do it successfully. (They cracked at the raw clay stage so I recycled and reused the clay- even the clay gets to try again!). The end result was beautiful, and the learning lesson of the journey valuable. I really love the journey and creation of art (part of the reason I love sharing these videos that show the art process, not just the finished pieces).
This hibiscus flower is from a plant in my garden- I love these enormous flowers. So I enjoy the bloom and once the hibiscus flower is just starting to wilt, I use it to create the impression in clay. #positivethinking #ceramics #hibiscus #artprocess
Wow, absolutely gorgeous

The gumamela flower!
Thanks for sharing the cracked one too, people forget sometimes that how much effort it takes to make a masterpiece ❤🌸
Usually we see so many videos that show everything coming perfectly together - I wanted to share the reality that there is often a lot of trial and error in creating art, and that failure is a normal part of it that can usually teach us how to do something better. Thank you for the lovely comment 💕
@@VuvuCeramics Hi, I would like to ask, why does some pieces crack during the drying process?
@@shanellerianab.vallespin9472
It can be for various reasons - uneven drying or stress in the clay while sculpting. In this case, it was primarily due to stress in the very narrow curves in between the petals. The concave shape of the dish added more stress to those spots as the piece dried. To resolve this, the next time I cut out the shape, I compressed those u-joints with my finger to strengthen the clay. I also dried it more slowly and evenly.
Потрясающе.А как смесь называется..Вы покупаете или сами делаете.

@@melvinandrew4505you still have to put it in a kiln, which is still called baking it.
Gente se for cerâmica fria não precisa ir ao forno, mas essa é minha dúvida. Qual o tipo de cerâmica? Tô encantada!
In pottery it’s called firing.
But I understood what was meant.
I just thought knowing and using the correct term might be helpful for some.
Not me thinking this was gonna be a meal 😭 lol

Oh I love Pomplamoose! Some of the best music in the world!! No matter if she is singing in French, or mashups of 80s pop songs, or anything in between. So good!!
I agree! 😊❤️
Ok, I didn’t expect this result! 😱
It was nice to hear a Russian song translated into French. This is a Russian romance called "black eyes". It was written in the 19th century
😊h
I'm pretty sure it's Nataly Dawn singing it too!
In case anyone's curious, this audio is from Pomplamoose, their new french album :)
Could I trouble you for the title of this particular song? I've looked up Pomplamoose on Spotify but I can't seem to find this song. It doesn't help that I don't speak French either. 😐
@@justaboringvegetarian449 I'll get back to you about that, I'm not quite sure either, I just instinctively recognised Nataly's voice. 😂
@@SilverQwaser Thanks for looking! I've been listening to them for almost an hour and they have some good stuff. 😀

Lindo demais! ❤🎉
Thank you! I love to capture and honor the fleeting beauty of nature 🌸
I love how u didnt give up❤ Keep up with ur amazing work like this, and you'll get very, very successful
You could repair the broken one with the kintsugi technique 😊
I do think kintsugi is lovely, but since this cracked in the early sculpting stage before any of the kiln firings, it’s easy to recycle the raw clay and try again 😊🌱
@@VuvuCeramicsThat is very true 😊
