House M.D. managed to find a nice balance of personal drama. It never overtakes the medical drama and when it does happen it serves a purpose.
This comment makes sense if it's from before seasons 6-8
The purpose was: One Las Frog! 😂
The personal drama was the shows biggest flaw.
Cameron is someone who needs to be needed, but only as a fixer, not as a companion. She gets her worth from fixing people. It’s why she became a doctor, why she married a dying man, and was broken by his death regardless of how obvious that outcome was going to be, why she was in love with House, and why her relationship with Chase was always doomed to fail. Chase didn’t have any glaring physical or psychological problems for her to cure. His murder of Dibala didn’t change any of that, it just gave her the excuse she needed to leave.
She was remarried, with a kid, by the end of the series.
@@OneGaurdian We don't know if the man she married has something for her to fix or not, LMFAO. Most of her attempts at relationship failed miserably when it was shown in the show.
Chase had to take care of his mother with alcoholism after his parents divorced. I think that Chase had unresolved childhood trauma.
@@NicoleCzarnecki Absolutely. I am 100% sure that the only reason Chase and Cameron lasted as long as they did was bc of trauma-bonding. But that isn’t enough to support a functioning relationship.
@@anjelica948 , I agree.
Can't believe Cameron actually thought that she can just expect Chase to sign without a serious conversation, and then she wants to get all defensive because he was speaking all the facts.
Are you trying to logic her back into the marriage? 1:25
She was scared of the conversation. Not saying she's right, she wasn't, but avoiding fear is a real response.
Which is why most people in real life usually do it through lawyers.
women. It's not unique to her.
@@DeCapitanOG Home boy says women are illogical. His evidence is a fictional tv show from about 15 years ago. Buy a mirror chief.
Cameron needs some serious therapy. I’ve thought this since the episode where she put that one patient through unnecessary tests even though she knew what she had was terminal. Everything Chase said shows that
I agree. The more time went on, the less and less I liked her. She was all about fixing other people to avoid fixing herself.
Agree. She always had good intentions but it feels like her own principles and opinions comes first primarily for her own good, not for the people around her. It's too self serving.
In season one, when there was a baby epidemic, she wasn't upfront to the parents that their kid was dying because she thought she was giving them "some few hours of hope". When things went south and the baby died, she got tail between legs when she needed to deliver the bad news. She couldn't even do it that Wilson needed to do it for her.
That's when I thought that this character is very weak and inconsistent. Even the character development was weak. She wanted Chase to feel bad and guilty for what he did when in fact, it's the opposite. Chase was standing for what he did, taking responsibility and he didn't regret it.
Chase may have had his flaws but at least he was honest with himself.
I like his character for that reason.
One of the more significant moments where Chase is like House. He stays logical and just accepts things as they are.
Chase you mean Casey 😂
@@josiplozancic1069 -- That would have made Cameron into Brett or Dawson.
And he's had a few months to grieve already, I'm sure that helped.
Except for Chase isn't a Sociopath.
House knew all this would happen, that's why he turned her down.
Go watch House & Cameron's first date. He knew it, the moment she mentioned 'Freud'.
I think he knew it even before then, she was delusional enough to trick him into going out with her, as if it could suddenly make him interested, when all he did was express the opposite all along, right from the beginning
I still feel the writers didn’t really know what to do with Cameron, she felt very inconsistent in her behaviour and principles. This arc felt like she was just character development for Chase rather than her own person.
Women like Cameron are inconsistent with their principles.
Being inconsistent is a personality trait though
Majority of people in real life are inconsistent. I like flawed characters like that.
She's like every woman I know. The only time they're consistent is when they don't have to be accountable.
Nah, she's her own person. She's consistently inconsistent.
The episode with doctor who wanted to die and didn't want to be treated in season 3, she didn't want to help in killing him but also wanted to respect that patient's wishes. That's who she was.
He's completely in the right. She never properly communicated to him and always acted entitely on impulse. She thinks she operates on a high level of morality but she actually uses it as a smokescreen to convince herself the validity of her actions. She's valid for having her feelings about how others act but how she acts and why she feels how she does are all entitely irrational and inconsistent. The reality is she ran away from the marriage for the same reason she ran away from the job - she's weak. She's afraid of having to change becauae she doesn't know who she is and is more afraid of what she would be. She sees men with, in her mind, no morality and it goes againat her sole self-comforting mechanism. She was the toxic one, beginning to end.
From the moment I saw in an episode she emulated some of houses personally traits and the. Thought she was in love with him, then the dybala incident I came to the conclusion Dr Alison Cameron is Weak Willed
She's emotionally immature. Some people just never grow up, and they are doomed to make the same mistakes over and over.
@@rcreynolds6186 it was at least good that she could admit it.
This is my favorite episode of the entire series. So much development and some really interesting dynamics between characters that didn’t really interact before.
How weird must it have been for them to act out this scene after breaking up in real life? Sometimes I wonder was life imitating art or art imitating life here?
What!? I did not know this. Also, wonderful thought.
Yeah it was kinda nasty to put them through this for that reason tbh
Maybe they were the ones to ask for it, they didn't wanted to play lover anymore 🤔
we can't tell for sure
actors tend to put themselves in the position of the characters. I guess the part where they mentioned their favourite moments could've been genuine. What better act other than the real thing?
tbh it's not the writers' responsibility what the actors do off camera. it's often recommended that in series or films with expected sequels that actors don't get attached to each other like that because it might complicate filming
I remember being 9 years old seeing House M.D. appear on Fox back then. New Years 2008 I'd rather watch this show than some ball-drop. Love and miss this show being on the air.
Good old days aaye 😊
i've never seen this episode, but you could always tell she never loved Chase, she was with him because it was convenient at the time and she didn't want to be alone, she was always desperate for love
and her answer "i don't know" says it all
Absolutely. Convenient love. I fell victim of this myself. Her answer is not too different from the one I got. Never thought I'd relate to Chase.
She loved having Chase being enamored with her and pursuing her. She diminished their romantic moments to the equivalent of microwave pizza. When Chase characterized it as meaning/being something more than that---at least for him, she distanced herself from him, calling off their "Tuesdays". She made it so that she had Chase desiring her, and so she could set the terms. When it seemed the terms were no longer hers to dictate, she ends their relations. Even professionally, Cameron hates when she's NOT dictating the ethical framework or moral tone. This all traces back to the loss of her 1st husband. Cameron felt powerless to stop what was happening. By the time she wed him, as House surmised, Cameron already knew he was a terminal. IMO, Cameron just couldn't be "stuck" with the tag--woman who abandons her terminally ill boyfriend. Cameron did the same with that terrible doctor who unethically performed experiments on infants w/o obtaining informed consent (the title of the episode). Cameron upon learning of the doctor's malfeasance could not let herself be seen as the doctor who let her terminally ill patient die a slow, agonizing death on the off chance that she personally loathed him for his despicable experiments. Cameron needs to maintain a holier than thou status. In effect, the spit was because she could NOT make peace with someone who is capable of defending what Chase did to Dibala. Chase was unwilling to pretend it did NOT happen and this made Cameron feel that he is morally flawed, and therefore, not a suitable partner FOR HER!
@@victorpradha9946 You phrased it all so beautifully
So .... What you're saying is.... "She's hopeless, and awkward, and DESPERATE FOR LOVE!!!"
Man, I’m a straight dude and even I dunno how you could divorce a guy like Chase. Beautiful man, I wish I had his looks.
Maybe you have an attraction to Australian blondes 🤔
Well, he killed a patient and she couldn't live with that. Plus, she never got over her first husband, who died. She still loved him and Chase was unfortunately some sort of an attempt at emotional replacement, if that makes sense.
Well looks are one thing but when you're planning on spending your life with someone looks become one of the least important parts
I hate to burst your bubble, but maybe you're bi, dude. 🙃
Agreed, he is one handsome fucker.
That little shuffle and push out against the door!.. DAYUM!..
"I'm unfixable not you" THE IRONY
When they first met, House was an avoidant and Cameron an anxious attacher. House turned down Cameron, she became an avoidant. Chase is a secure attacher and got his chance with Cameron, but Cameron always ran away from commitment before taking the next big step with Chase. Just the interaction between insecure adults.
Still miss this show. Great acting here and a genuine goodbye for these two as I think at this point, Jennifer Morrison was out to star in ABCs Once Upon a Time.
Some of it was pretty real. They were together IRL for a bit
@@AutumnOnFire Oh, were they? I didn’t know that.
@@bigb860Yup, and they were engaged at some point but I believe they broke up during filming of S3.
They were engaged in real life.she worked on how I met your mother before Once Upon A Time
@@AB-yk2pq Actually, they got engaged during filming for season three and broke up the summer between seasons three and four.
Chase deserved better tbh. She was always a nutcase. He wasn’t perfect, but she always acted like she never did anything wrong.
That’s cuz she never did
I’m just glad she’s admitted to the truth and logic at some point. It’s bittersweet but to see them just sitting there, talking like two old old friends who are just remembering the past and then dancing…I can’t explain it, but it’s a beautiful form of closure.
I thought so too
Considering the two actors met on set then were actually engaged, I bet this scene was based in reality
wait what? really?
@@carloflores7109yep, engaged during the filming of season 3; then separated sometime before filming season 4-5 IIRC, which shows in the difference of acting in said seasons.
@@christopherreyes6821 Some other comment said they broke up between 3-4. Either way, breaking off an engagement is rough and I imagine some of the emotions here were real. Looking back on it, it makes sense that we don't see as much of Chase and Cameron together in the same scenes after S3.
Chase just whistling Battle hymn of the republic at the beginning
An interesting fact: they were a couple in real life. This makes this so much emotional
Should have seen it comming, he wasnt mortally ill nor crippled
Jennifer Morrison brithday, this episode aired and today is her birthday April 12, 1979
One day before mine ^^
Geez, that was my first semester in college.
Choosing "Allison" was brilliant.
First time I watched was when it premiered and I was much younger, but now after many things and the mess going on right now I cannot in good conscience say that I don’t finally see Chase’s perspective more clearly. Not that I agree but
Honestly, if was in his position and had the chance to end this genocide at the expense of my soul, I wouldn't know what to do either. It gets more complicated because he's a doctor, a man who swore to do no harm. But wasn't letting him live doing harm? A real dilemma portrayed beautifully in this story arc, but like you said, with us witnessing an actual genocide on live tv everyday, what would the right thing to do be?
This was cathartic.
I know not everyone gelled with Cameron, or at least with the direction she went, but i honestly felt all of this was pitch perfect.
She was weird from the beginning, in her intense need to Connect and emotionally bond.
The characters she bonded with, and the fact that while her relationship with chase was cute or sweet, it seemed too smooth, no satisfying textures, just simple comfort and passionless.
Suffice to say, i think she needed to be with chase, be in a real and Regular relationship to see that it didn't need to be a certain High from Low type of relationship (married to someone dying so every day is cherished and lived to the fullest), to understand what a regular comfy marriage could be.
man there’s all types of sad scenes in this show but every once in a while they have a punch to the gut like this one that’s leagues ahead of the rest in terms of emotional impact, jesse spencer and jennifer morrison put on an absolute clinic. (no pun intended)
this hits different knowing their on screen relationship is the same off screen
What's more amazing is that the actors really dated in real life, then got engaged, then broke up two months before their wedding. It is interesting the writers decided to do the same to the characters (sort of), it's like testing whether real life can sip into acting. The two actors are great professionals. 😅
I seem to recall one early episode where Cameron chastised a husband for leaving his ill wife after the team concluded she had been cheating on him, the implication being that Cam cheated in at least one prior relationship and was guilty about it. If she had not had the convenient excuse of divorcing Chase for his crime, she would have eventually cheated on him anyway to force a divorce. She is not marriage material. She did him a favor.
Always hated her character. One of those who thinks she's the moral hero who is better than everyone else. She's not.
this is a proper goodbye
it really breaks Chase heart (not Cameron), but yea, this is a proper goodbye
This seems more like cathartic resolution for Chase, not heartbreak. If anything, Cameron is the one more “broken” by this interaction than Chase.
Wow . . . Chase broke one of the most sacred of oaths . . . and yet he still comes across as a better person than Cameron.
He stood up for what he believed. In a way, what he did was to still save lives. The question of, "If you had a chance to kill Hitler before he massacred all the jews, would you do it?" He had the balls to do it.
And he came across better than Cameron because the dictator was just a scapegoat for her.
@@mjdbaga after everything that's happened to the West and you still believe what you've been relentlessly programmed to believe about the national socialists. it's just disturbing. how there is so many people out there like you.
certainly more honest. He told her the truth even though it would have been easier to lie.
And governments make these judgement calls all the time - sacrificing one life to save hundreds or o even millions of lives.
Meh, what’s more important, saving the life lives of thousands of people or letting that murderers who say they will continue to murder die? It’s pretty black and white. Even for a doctor.
You just hate you’ll never have a core as strong as hers
In my opinion cameron is the reason chase became house
The one time they called each other normally by their first names and it weirded me out so hard. 🤣🤣
THey are both messed up for different reasons and both are fixable but only within themselves.
I think we all agree Cameron sucks
And does it very well.
I do agree
but she is fairly typical of women, hence why 80% all divorces are initiated by women and the most common reason by far is "irreconcilable differences"
i honestly wish i had this last conversation. this last bit of closure.
most women will not grant it to you and will never take responsibility for their faults in the relationship.
This is a brilliantly acted scene
I viewed Cameron as pathetic. Look, she was a high-end doctor, but she didn't keep keep to her principles. Many times "due to her hots for House" she did "wrong" things. Then they threw her onto Chase, w/ her still having some feelings for House. Finally, it became an easy "let me divorce you" to Chase. Many said if she married House, this would occur in reverse. (House divorcing her with her crying to stay with him because she gave up Chase)
A single paper? That’s all?
Cameron bugged me a hell of lot,. I didnt like her at all, she was to righteous ,always needed it to suit her needs and if it didnt she wanted nothing to do with it... Loved when House called her out as a fixer needing a sick person to care for
Cameron was always a terrible person who used superficial morality to try and put herself above others.
0:38 - gaslighting a poor greedy selfish doctor, into believing he is the problem. well, good thing you can run away from your life through divorce, selfishness and manipulation, deny , deny, deny
7:42 - still can't process things and looks for cheap thrills to avoid processing real feelings
Way to send some really odd messed up signals
no kidding. raises more questions than it answers.
I’ve always wondered why the show wrote Cameron out of the show and divorced Chase. It never made sense to me even after watching this episode numerous times.
Jennifer Morrison was working on Once Upon A Time so they had to write her out
working on different shows plus the actors broke up in real life so it wouldn't exactly have been comfortable for them.
@@earlefinlay3682 Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer were engaged in 2006, but called off their engagement in 2007. Cameron was written out of the show in 2009, two years after their engagement was called off. Also, Jennifer Morrison was only cast into Once Upon a Time after her character was already written off the show, meaning there was substantial time between when she was written off and she was cast on her new show.
This is why you don't get into a relationship without checking if you're broken or not. Unfortunately, people don't like admitting to themselves that they have a problem.
Top 3 TV shows of all time. Multiple stories that are all intertwined with each other while still keeping the medical stories also factual. Love House MD and there will never be a show like it that reaches this level.
How more messed up can this be? They sleep together for once before getting divorced…
Cameron is a massive hypocrite and a liar, not just to everyone but also herself. Even to the end she was never really honest with anyone. If Chase wasn't so understanding (if you want to call it that) then this should have scarred her. The ending is supposed to be a bit comical and light hearted but man it just solidifies how selfish and unstable she is and how she can quickly jump to things to distract from the gravity of the situation.
Jnniffer Morrison did a great job being Cameron. Unless it wasn't the intent of the writers to make her completely unlikable that is.
She must be really cold all the way up in her tower
Not sure I've ever seen or heard of two ppl making out right after signing their divorce papers, but nevertheless, I love to see ppl come together.
THEY DANCED TO ALLISON BY ELVIS COSTELLO?! GOD I LOVW THIS SHOW
I know they're just fictional characters. But I'm glad they had a proper goodbye. In the real world, that's often rendered impossible.
I kind of half bought into the whole Cameron Chase relationship. They just kind of got together off screen if my memory is correct, but once they were together they were a cute couple.
JUSTICE FOR DR CHASE 😭😭😭😭
Doesn't Csmeron have a blonde kid later in the series that is probably Chase's offspring from this little fling?
I only ever saw the first half of this clip and after that it's nice knowing they kinda made up after all and didn't separate on bad terms.
This is why I hate Camron she lets her trauma and her past rule her life and dictate her decisions instead of learning and growing from it and it pisses me off.
IVe finally started to realise she was the Willson of the "new" trio. Chase was House, Foreman was Cuddy and Cameron was Willson. Of course, they had their differences towards their respectives. But they portrayed the "What if..." versions of the "adult" ones. Chase was the "What if House wasn't always in pain and he could open to people". Foreman was the "What if Cuddy didn't NEED external emotional support and was able to live on her own". This one is a bit far fetched since I couldn't totally grasp her character yet. But Cameron was the "What if House didn't need me" Willson. They both seeked people they could help to feel better and useful. House gave many headaches to Willson, but House in return gave him both the wild-fun side of life he wanted/needed AND the feeling of being useful (to the point of needed). Chase gave Cameron the same things House gave Willson... except Chase never really needed her. And that was the difference that made her leave. Makes you wonder what would Willson do if House started being an independent person. Would he leave their friendship? Just keep it to formalities between collegues?
Anyways, trully a really well written story and set of characters. Love it all (even the annoying/triggering parts).
SPOILER ALERT -
Or maybe the Cuddy-Foreman thing ended up unresolved because Lisa's departure from the series.
She even shares the same trait of "i want to follow my heart according to morals". But show big inconsistency at the true moment.
i feel the writers did cameron's character a bit of an injustice in the later seasons
BTW, this episode was directed by Hugh Laurie
I used to have a heart to be softer towards moments like this. Now im like Chase except im not going to be consoling after you shed a tear after taking my heart and treating it like the thief putting his teeth on the curb in american history x. You need to know pain. And the best pain is that which you caused. Why? Because ill hope you change after that. And no external force will ever change a person. The brick wall of your own mistakes will.
I said I would not console, yet I did it anyway. Because I was a fool in love
Is a painful answer but it was necessary 😢
You know whats really sad, In my 32yrs of life ive learned that women can go along with relationships just because she feels like its what she's supposed to do because of how much the man loved her and was their for her, even while never truly loving him herself, they feel like its an obligation because she needed someone and he was their and he deserves her, .....and sadly later they wake up realizing they never loved the man, they just love how much he loved her.

This was the worst part of the series imo not becayse it was poorly acted or anything but because cameron just let lust take over her brain and like others have said zhe loves fixing people rather than fixing herself. I loved chases character because he truly wanted to settle down for awhile and then because of her he lost himself till later in the series
Lusty.....lusty.....relationship...... just lust....
House was right to avoid this one like the plague, called out her bullshit too.
I liked her because nostalgia for the early seasons, but not a particularly reliable person by any means.
Proof that two insanely good looking people can't be a good fit😂
I love Chase, but contrary to what people think, he’s just as to blame for their separation as she is. Even before their relationship started he was pushing her to do things she wasn’t ready for. He didn’t let her come to him at her own pace and even in this moment forced the answer that he wanted to hear out of her. Cameron loved him and really tried to make him happy, but sometimes things just don’t work out.
Cameron shouldn't have married Chase if she didn't love him. She's screwed him over completely.
She shouldn't have gotten involved with someone until she got her head straight.
When i ended the last close relationship i had it took 2+ years before I would date again because I simply wasn't ready and it wouldn't have been fair to the next woman or to me to do so.
Eventually you have to grow up and not just jump into relationships simply because your are lonely.
Cameron is chases stacy
He's a nice guy, she's not so nice!🤔
It’s like the writers knew what 2024 dating was gonna be like lolol.

It would have been psychopathic and attempting to incite violence if he held a decapitated head of a woman up to his camera, wouldn’t it.

Shes remarried with someone else and has a kid....makes you wonder if this helped her grow or if that guy has something she needs to fix...

So basically Cameron didn't care that Chase killed the dictator she was looking for an excuse to leave without feeling guilty

I think you are correct. Women never want to be the bad guy and look for someone or something else to blame.
Just started house and I'm in season 2 and HATE CAMERON. I wish they knew how to write a character like her. She just comes across as a naive but better-than-thou teenage girl. Congratulations, you missed the point.
Can someone tell me the episode of last seen for not watch it?
CAMERON IS THE WORST CHARACTER
He was kinda her pet.
I hated the writers for this. Cameron did love Chase. They are both good people and the writers didn’t want a fairytale ending.
A whole lot of people over the past 15 years have gotten sick of fairytale endings. Writers probably are, as well. I wanted the end of House to be House coming to a realization that he’s always been in love with Allison and coming over to her and brandishing her and then she rides with Wilson and House, on the back of House’s motorcycle and while resting in a field, him holding her, they kiss and Wilson makes a happy face and series fades out. That fairytale. I am *not* sick of fairytales. 😄😄
no
she cared for him and maybe even admired him and was sexually attracted to him but she didn't love him.
Cameron was a great character and Olivia Wilde very busy apparently.
This scene always gets me crying. They deserved better, the writers should have had them go to therapy and really work on themselves instead of splitting them up.
Who the heck in their right mind would sleep with an ex-SO?
As far as I'm concerned, OVER means OVER. Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you, bye.
Love doesn't always vanish. You may not love your ex now, but if you used to love them deeply and for a long time, it's easy to slip back with someone who feels familiar.
I adored Cameron. Yes she was an incredibly naive idiot but she genuinely understood house. All of a sudden her morality can’t take basically killing hitler? This show is PERFECT except for what the writers did to Cameron . :( they could’ve had her accept reality instead she doubles down on episode 1 Cameron. 🤦♂️ just shows how a writing mistake can affect a show.
