Shooting somebody doesn't make you a badass. That was not great example of writing from DC - only getting out of the situation by throwing one of the fundamental points of the character out the window.

There's another story where Batman creates a bat suit so powerful he can actually influence the minds of those around him with it, and he uses it to convince the Justice League to believe Superman can and absolutely will escape a seemingly inescapable dimensional prison to save the day - which Sups absolutely does.
I had that issue where he knocks out Guy and it truly was superb to see the separation of a man with the power to literally tear cosmos apart running his mouth making empty threats and an average human not saying a single word, silencing him in the most acute way, and walking off. Never uttering a peep. As a child that taught me that your actions will ALWAYS speak louder than your words.

Red kryptonite causes mutation not specifically turning Supe’s skin translucent. That was just the random mutation the red kryptonite caused that time
