I heard her song at this concert. Her heartfelt singing voice conveyed the beauty of hula. That's how I started hula. Her voice will never be forgotten.
She wanted to be a professional singer from an early age and my family and I are grateful that Keali'i gave her the opportunity to sing in front of an audience. There is no doubt that it was one of the best moments of her life as you can see her cheerful smile in the video. Incredibly, she passed away in August 2023, but we will live on with her rich voice and her bright smile. Mahalo.
@sunbabybull: I think the story was that Keali'i heard the song being sung when he was in Japan and loved the tune. He wrote Hawaiian lyrics to the exact tune. The Japanese song is titled "Nada Sou Sou". The Hawaiian title is "Nohona Pilikai." You can search Nada SouSou and hear the original song...
