  • As an antiques procurer, Austin resident Laura Young knows her way around vintage art. So when she discovered a $35 marble bust at an Austin Goodwill store, she knew there must’ve been a storied history there. What she didn’t expect was history to trace its roots back to first century A.D. Rome.

Honestly, if it were me and Germany wanted it back, they would have to pay me a good price before they got it back.

Someone gave it to the goodwill store without knowing what it really was and thought that it was just junk. Also it was a war trophy for some GI.

What it amounts to is that a US soldier probably looted it, an illegal act. It is an Italian Antiquity and should be returned because it was probably obtained illegally by a US soldier. Looting was against the Articles of War and could be punishable by death. What England did, or France, or any other power 100-200 years ago is not relevant. According to the laws of that time, it was legal. According to our laws in 1941-1945, the soldier committed a crime. Goods obtained in the commission of a crime should be returned to its owner.

So as per international art law, British should return everything to the rest of the world.
Or it doesn't apply to them. Especially whatever they looted from India, all the African continent and Australia.
May be protuegese, French, Italian and Spanish coloniser's should do that as well.
Let's get the international law working on them.

But the same laws that applied on the bust should be applied on all the coloniser's to return at least what they stole from continent after continent.

    • @joelweymouthtais
      @joelweymouthtais 2 года назад +2

@@sshukla7975 No, because what those powers did were legal at the time. Frankly, maybe the indigenous people should pay the "colonizers" for the modern conveniences they would not have had if not colonized. Maybe India should pay Britain for the fact that if it were not for the British, WOMEN would still be burned with their husbands, there'd still be a caste system, and Hindus would not be allowed to learn to read because India at that time was ruled by Muslim MOGHULS who oppressed them.

    • @sshukla7975

@@joelweymouthtais alright women were only burned because they were taken forcibly from their homes converted and made concubines or put in harems. And the legality of committing genocide and forced famine were in Winston Churchill time so they are pretty recent okay. Just as valid as ww2.
Lastly you seem to be sympathisers of colonials. We are not asking for reparations, we are asking for our historical signifanct artifact back.
We don't need alms we work hard and can be top leaders.
So please go spread your hatred toward India somewhere else.
I just said if that applied to the western artificer may be easter and southern eastern and African continent should get their rightful artifact in their museums.
The British museum which is free in London literally is filled with stolen artificet it doesn't say gifted or acquired it just states the places it was taken.
Some artifact have been given back to African countries not Indian.
So for a bust if this much sensitivity is there maybe the looting and plundering can't be justified by so called genocidal reform.
Let me see I invade your house and loot everything I believe as per you idea you won't go to police or try to recover.
      Such gentleman.
You are a part of problem, who don't see anything wrong with the past.
Your ideology clouds you and your thoughts are toxic. I did not bring Hindu I brought continent.
      You brought Hindu and Muslim
You are communal at you r heart and are sympathisers of terrorism.
You guys are dangerous than anything in this world. You don't want development you want tensions and wars.
It was about British returning things not only to India but other continent.
You made it Hindu Muslim thing.. You sicko.

And about Hindus not getting to study, Sanskrit is language if computer. Hindus did it. The higgs boson particle that is God's particle the scientist who did confirm that exist in year 2021, with Indian women on team got that derivative from Indian Sanskrit.
Aryabathha and charak, maths and science scholars. And many more have existed, so don't worry about Hindu studies.
We are not clouded by ideology of conversion.
We have been studying from ages before and will continue after. Hindu calendar is only calendar that's both lunar and solar yours Gregorian calendar is still can't compete with that. Mayan and Aztec were far advanced. OK.
So there is no studies for architecture of British or Muslim agenda but only Indian.
Guess that proves that to hide your own inadequate knowledge you would try to decimate.
The Indian ideology doesn't die down with any advent if torturous rules and genocides, and that's what bothers you.
It was a simple point but you have to make it something else somehow.
Which rabbit hole you live in is astonishing mate. Have fun
