This came at just the right time. I'm starting to incorporate picking into my practices and needed a solid point to begin. Thank you for the fantastic lessons!
This is my third favorite Andy Guitar instructional video of all time! Right on the heels of 10 day absolute beginner and 10 day lead guitar. We need more things like this on RUclips. Thanks for all the great content.
Well done ANDY! Always helpful with your lessons. Have learned so much from you over the years. I have purchased and still use your lesson books! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🎸⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am really struggeling with holding my pick. I got used to hold with a rubber Fender thing but can’t get the right feeling without it anymore. These picking excercise is helpfull!
Long story short, I tried to learn in my teens and got to no place substantial. At the start of October I picked up the guitar again after a 10 year hiatus. I'm definitely weak when it comes to accurate picking, been trying generic arpeggio exercises and the "Summer of 69" intro as basic practice. This video is a good guidance to get me through my issues with picking, thanks.
Thank you for this video, "newbie" looking for beginner help where he can find it. After many videos being watched, I have had one question that keeps popping up, this video included. When the finger picking is shown (other videos showing chords this way as well), the strings (chords) that are being played are opposite of what we are watching on screen. What I mean by that is as you play/pick the "top" string as seen looking directly at your guitar, the on screen fret shows the "bottom" string being played/picked. This has been a little confusing for me, as I am always trying to turn the fret board upside down in my head as I picture playing/picking it myself. Why isn't the fret board shown how we actually see it as we look directly at your guitar?
Maybe it was out if stubbornness, but I never really practiced guitar with a pick. I have acoustic guitars, so I always found picks to be clunky to use. I've taught myself fingering techniques, using old school songs, and am quite confident with using 4 fingers (pinky I haven't trained much). After finally using my electric, I realized that i should have also learned how to use a pick lmao. Its like learning guitar all over again. Thanks for this vid.
Im starting this training if i have time cuz im only 11 and have 7 months of guitar experience so i have school but its almost our 1 week break even though it says 5 minutes im gonna practice this for an hour so i can practice my fingers not hurting Anyway amazing lesson im just starting right now
Andy can you please do a video on how to play Tim McGraw , I need you , finger picking on acoustic please 🙏🙏🙏 . I can only find one video and not explained the best . Also struggling to find tabs on it .
Great lesson again! Can not find any acoustic lesson on Gypsy Caravan by wolf Wolfmother. Just a suggestion would be great to see and learn. Keep up the good stuff🥳🤘
Hello there, I've recently started playing guitar and your channel really helped me. I was wondering whats your opinion on how long will it take me before I can play basic chords songs? Are arctic monkeys song beginner friendly? I was hoping you could maybe play No. 1 party anthem some time. It's a nice song. Anyways ty for everything!
For the chords, you will learn them at your own pace. Personally I learnt basic chord structured in a couple weeks. For the songs wise, I recommend learning songs that use a couple chords during the whole songs, for example Patience and I used to love her by Guns N’ Roses.
Thanks. You convinced me to learn a Green Day song bc it’s perfect for learning this. I’ll have to save my Byrds and Meat Puppets for when I master this

"Time of your life" is indeed a good practice song for plucktrum practice. How to pick two or more strings together?
Please could you to Take That Patience?
Seven and a half minutes baby!
i started playing like 2 weeks ago and holy hell i suck at picking
Thanks, I've been finger picking that song. I've been too scared to pick it properly.
need a tutorial for waitin on the day by john mayer
The trick is to take it slow and build up the speed
Do you hold the pick differently eg firmer
Not really, but there's a knack to keeping the pick still and have it not move or drop. I wouldn't say hold it firmer though, it's just a knack
Bruh I just started picking and I literally started trying to learn good riddance yesterday lmao
The first part was fine but then the end was rushed. When you did the actual picking pattern it was not clear what it was
My finger tips hurt ! Need calluses I think
Yes.. because your learning and it hurts..❤❤
How to scale of any song bro
i literally came here because of good riddance 😭🙏🏾
Is it just me or does he kinda remind me of mr beast but with an accent
What happened with your teeth? Shines so bright it’s distracting me from the fretboard
Thanks. You convinced me to learn a Green Day song bc it’s perfect for learning this. I’ll have to save my Byrds and Meat Puppets for when I master this
