Happy looking C-5M...it looks like it's smiling. Great filming, Kevin!

Love this amazing video. Great job Kevin.
Massive aircraft! Love seeing those flying around. Awesome capture!!!
Better than the Lufthansa B747-8 yesterday!
I had the great privilege as a former Cav Scout to fly from Mississippi to Germany to Afghanistan and back in one and when I was blown up I flew in one from Balad to Germany to the states in one. And what a great flight.
WOW Congratulations on 779K subscribers, Kevin🎉🎉🎉
Yeah. 779k is a huge milestone. I remember when I reached 779k in [insert whatever here because it doesn’t matter]. I received a plaque with that specific number.
Thank you for putting in extra time to catch this C5 landing for us!
Hi Kevin. What a great surprise. Wow that is exciting. Thank you for
So big. Very smooth touchdown. 🎉
Flew on one of these from Dover, Delaware to Frankfurt, Germany back in 1989 when I was in the Air Force. The first time I saw this plane in person was seeing them in the pattern to land at Kelly Air Force Base while I was in basic training at Lackland. The thing I remember most about the flight is the howling of those GE TF-39 engines on take off. I'd heard it from the outside many times, but not the inside. Massive.
Too bad the TF39s were replaced.
@@pegasus4752 Understandable, but disappointing from an aesthetic perspective.
AVL Excellence as always! Thank you so much Kevin!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
USN, 68-74, ETR-2, NAS Miramar, 70-74, I maintained GCA RADAR and TACAN. Lots of stuff came through Miramar, and a C5 a couple of times. One of them, they parked near the tower, opened it up, and stayed 2-3 days allowing the public to tour. Somewhere I have an old snapshot a buddy took of myself sitting in the pilot's seat. I am 75.
Flaps, spoilers, air brakes, reverse thrusters, god knows what all they have to do to stop that big homie.
Amazing video it’s so cool seeing the c5 especially at LAX on a livestream especially airline videos and it buttered great landing for a c5 best plane spotting out there
I live next to westover air base they are the home of C5’s I forget a lot of people don’t see them every day. They are amazing to watch land and take off.
Awesome. Nice flair over the runway to land.
Cool 😎Catch Of The Lockheed C5M Galaxy
I flew in one. What an experience. When it takes off and you sit sideways in jump seats it feels like the tail is going to drag on the runway.
Never seen the wings like that wow fancy!
the flaps and spoilers on the c5 just look soo cool
Where did the c 5 come from?
First up. So cool! ❤❤❤
Where I live I don’t see many heavies ever, however, the trade off is I see these beautiful behemoths coming and going all day into Kelly Field. C-5 fest everyday.
Niiiice 🙌🏾
Butter 🧈
I just caught an original DC-10-40 taking off over me from March Air force field.
The only thing missing was the sound of long gone TF-39's.
This chubby boy looks like a live action version of a plane right out of a Disney movie (from around the Cars movie era).
Great stuff! I’m sure you have checked out all location possibilities for your spotting. Would be great if you could be a little higher to see the surface of the runway subsequent to touchdown. New subscriber! Blue skies!
Be sure to check out today’s show high atop the hotel near LAX, the H Hotel!
@@LAplaneSpotter Okay great! Good to know!
Great view of the speed brake action! Had never noticed that they're quite delayed in deploying. I wonder if it's manual instead of an automatic setting like on commercial aircraft.
The spoilers were manual before they were all changed to a glass cockpit. I haven't been in them since that change, but I would imagine that spoiler activation is still manual.
@@ixnorp4270 Great information. Thank you 👍🏽
👌
What is better cinnamon?or turmeric??
What time was it at?
Time stamp is in the lower left corner in the blue banner.
@@LAplaneSpotter Thank you
On Ice spreading turmeric or cinnamon
Anyone know why it's in town? Biden planning a visit? (Presidential support is the usual reason).
20 years ago I was on the Dover flight line as a Mx officer. Yes, they're huge. But also very complex and constantly breaking down.
I wonder if it's due to storms? A bunch of planes have been in Sacramento due to being relocated from elsewhere that is having extreme storms for.
@@hefoxed We got lots of rain in Delaware. Never once evacuated planes. Only if a hurricane was going to hit us (I think they did evacuate some of the planes once, and only once, after I left 20 years ago... same storm that hit DC with tons of rain maybe 10 years ago).
Sacramento is a little further inland than Travis, but it's flat ground between the two locations. This was a Travis bird.
Also: bases such as Edwards, Nellis, March, Miramar, and Point Mugu are roughly the same flying distance and have all the support one would expect. And LAX has expensive landing fees. I don't see them going there just to get a plane away from weather.
@@comicus01 Ah! Thanks for going into that
Goolging a news article, the planes in sac are from Altus Air Force Base . The news article mentions travis, ("Why did the Air Force choose McClellan instead of places like Travis or Beale? It comes down to available parking spaces."), so sounds like Travis's weather was fine and could have been an airport they'd gone to if it had more parking space. So yea, not due to weather then.
@@hefoxed I'm a little surprised that Travis doesn't have the space. They have a large ramp. But ultimately depends on how may of their own planes are at home vs. in the system. Beale I don't think has a big ramp with lots of parking.
BTW, this was a Travis bird in the clip.
In 95 I know they evacuated all aircraft that could fly out of Dover due to a hurricane coming up the coast.i was Reserves on my annual tour at the time and wasn't expecting that situation. Once we got them out I asked permission to run down to VA Beach to get my kids. I went straight down, across the cbbt grabbed the kids from a friend and by the time I got back to the cbbt the storm surge was at the bottom of the bridge. The hurricane was off the OBX.
What is be
Pretty soon we won’t be able to see the planes landing with all the watermarks on the screen
Oh boo, what a way to ruin the whole video , and experience by the military having gone and replaced the engines with newer ones. I forgot the engines names and types, but a C-5 isn't a C-5 anymore without the original ones and the sound. You know, if you know
TF-39 engines
@BayAreaTraveler OH YEAH, that's it. Thank you, I don't know why, but for the life of me, I just couldn't remember, lol
I'm also surprised with how fast of a response I got it usually takes days before someone responds to comments on videos. Thanks again, GB
I also just checked your channel, and I believe I was subscribed to your channel not that long ago, but for some reason, it said I wasn't, but I just subscribed again. I can't wait to see what video you have to post next. I love aviation and flying. If it wasn't for having seizures start later in my life. I always wanted to be a pilot for the military, and later for NASA, but like I said, I started having seizures for some unexplained reason, so that ended that.
