    I'm training for a sub 20:00 5k, hopefully I can adjust this program to a 28km per week schedule

      Love it!! For this - if you’re already running around that distance add some km’s to your Sunday long run and if needed add another run on the Thurs (Day 4) but make sure it’s easy!

    The threshold run is hard for me because I have quite a high heart rate when not working particularly hard, like an easy run will generally sit at 165 beats per minute, I’m 14 though.

      That’s where for you I’d go off the RPE scale and how you feel rather than HR monitoring! Otherwise you’ll just be underdoing it in your thresholds.

    May i ask why dont we use the slightly reduced target 5k pace for the threshold run? Some coaches recommend that.

      I find for beginners/everyday runners it’s a lot easier to control going off effort (RPE) first and then HR zones. No problem with pace targets though if you’re a consistent runner and have a clear, realistic 5k goal in mind!
