Well he was expecting a certain answer because he had already reviewed this conversation in his head before he even had it.
I don't think he was trying to say he was correct, I think it's just a way of asking a question, for example "the answer is four, correct?" you don't expect to be right necessarily you're just clarifying a question
@@aestheticzebra4467 i get that, but tone of voice really matters in that and he just said his question, followed by ‘correct.’ and his ‘correct’ was used to interfere with a potential answer from the other person 😭😭

Actually, the ancestors to our ancestors had tails. The Tailbone right at the bottom of the spine is a vestigial structure from those ancestors. So, yes, humans did technically come from Monkeys
@@VeraExora I hate to undermine your attempt at defending the monkey narrative but uh
All apes have tail bones
Same as humans
Humans are also classified as apes and not monkeys, and apes used to have tails, thus Humans are still descended from an ape ancestor
In fact, there's a gene that prevents all apes from growing tails and instead having just a vestigial tale bone, and sometimes that gene is missing, resulting in the occasional instance of a human having a tail

"Condoms always work. Let's say they work 98% of the time" is a crazy contradictory sentence
I love how when someone walks away dude considers that a “win”, but in reality they are walking away so they don’t punch the dude in the nose. Also the condom argument relating to abortion, he’s like “yeah 98% success rate is really high and 2% fail rate is like really low so… if they happen to fall into that 2% I guess it’s just meant to be” like omfg
I like how he says oh if everyone just wore condoms we’d have less abortions like no shit Sherlock. Next he’ll say if we just stopped fighting wars less people would die.
And 2% of the whole population of sexually active adults and teens having accidental pregnancies is a huge number... I cant math but its definitly huge 😆
@@fotty96 take the US for example: the population right now is ~331.9 million people
2% of 331.9 million is 6,638,000
(not saying everyone's sexually active or applies to this, yadda yadda, just an example)
do 6.6 million people not count? 2% SEEMS small, but with big numbers the 2% isn't really as small as it may seem
i hope i made sense
@@theredpanda00 I agree with your point but I think your math is a little wrong, yes there's 330,000,000 people in the US but we should mostly count people with female reproductive parts who can get pregnant, so like between ages of 16-40. That's mostly just gen z and millenials.
The population for gen z is like 70 million, and so is the population of millenials. Add those together and the total population that is within the age of having fertile sex is like 140 million. Then we divide that by 2, because females are the ones who are getting pregnant. So there are ~70 million females who are fertile and probably having sex in the US.
2% of 70 million is 1.4 million. That means that, for when a condom doesn't work 2% of the time, around 1.4 million out of 70 million females/people who can give birth will be affected. And this may or may not lead to pregnancy.
I tried looking for sources for the annual population in the US that has abortions. I think it's 1 million? Sources were like in the 800,000-1 million range.
This means that not only is abortion incredibly *rare* as a form of birth control for females that can get pregnant,
but the people who are having abortions may still be reasonably practicing safe sex and wearing condoms that just so happen to break. So the attitude from conservatives that young women are constantly getting abortions instead of practicing safe sex, at the very least, is ludicrous 🙄. I think *my* math is wrong too, because I couldn't find any data on how many women were having sex and using contraceptives who didn't want to get pregnant. And I assumed all women who could be having sex, were doing so with condoms 100% of the time. But I think the point still stands that the number of people who get abortions is blown astronomically out the water.
@@Alexa-bp8rm yeah i was just talking strictly in theoretical numbers, 2% is still way too many to be dismissed as just "2% doesn't matter it's so small"

Happy birthday! As a woman in my 30s, I can tell you that I have almost no regrets about having chosen to have cats instead of children
Well, you're only in your 30s, you're not exactly that old. Your life is still only beginning. I've known some women personally who, once in their late 40s, did start to regret never having children; not that they never wanted to have kids to begin with, but by that point, they decided they were just too old to start.

edit: no one asked but i'm gonna ramble about it here. prepare for some scientific terms:
the oldest known common ancestor amongst all primates is the genus Purgatoris. we assume that they kinda resembled squirrels, but we only really have some teeth and ankle bones. overall though every primate we can track trails back to the order Plesiadapiform. they went extinct during the Eocene, but split off into two/three sections: Adapoidea and Omomyoids, and maybe Tarisers depending on which theory you wanna go off for those little freaks.
Adapoidea likely became what we call strepirrhines, which encompasses lemurs and lorises, while Omoyods eventually became Haplorhines, aka monkeys, apes, humans, and sometimes tarsiers.
anthropologists aren't sure exactly why certain omoyods decided to go bipedal but humans did eventually become their own distinct species, starting with the miocene apes (sahelanthropus tchadensis & orrorin tugenesis) and eventually into australopithecenes and, eventually, homo sapiens :) thank you for participating in my studying for my bio anth final

I have a feeling that Garret definitely didn’t go to school- it explains why he interviews people in Walmart for his TikTok, he can’t get a job cuz he dropped out of Highschool

Dear Garrett: In 2012/2013 I had two coworkers whose cars could be disabled remotely by the dealership if they didn't pay. That tech has been out there. The government doesn't need special cars and entire resolutions for change as pretense.
Fr?! What is it called?
Abraham Lincoln didn't free the slaves out of the kindness of his heart. He needed support and it was a hail marry play. Not calling him a racist, but he was a politician.
Not only that, but that whole line of questioning usually leads to "Lincoln was a republican and freed the slaves so the majority of black people are stupid for not voting republican." Or "oh so since Lincoln was a republican and freed the slaves then libs and leftist are stupid for calling Republicans racist." Completely ignoring the fact that it's been over 100 years since then and a lot has changed about both parties and the people who work in those parties over the course of those over 100 years. Completely unaware of, or purposely ignoring, or white washing away any nuance on the topic and thinking about the whole thing with thr mindset of a 4 year old.

“Fuck no”
That explains a lot
He's still bitter that he couldn't get in, so he tells himself college is dumb
How does he have such bad luck picking people to interview they were all so much smarter and articulate
Don't know why I'm writing this on a year old comment, but I have a a sneaking suspicion that Garett could interview almost anyone and they'd be more articulate and intelligent than him.

Can confirm. Taking a US history class at a college vs a public high school is a hell of a lot different. I rarely cry, like ever, but some of the stuff we read in that class brought me close to tears. It’s absolutely absurd.

Happy Birthday! As a 26 year old, it may all seem daunting but the truth is: none of us know what we're doing. With practice, you just get better at "winging it."
Happy birthday Saji !! I'm 19, turning 20 next year. With the expectations put on young people these days, I had the exact same issue with feeling like I'm getting too old from the moment I turned 18, but with help from my support system I don't struggle as much anymore. The way I see it, there's no "right" time for anything, everything comes to you when it's ready. You dont have to be in any rush toward your future, or decide anything for yourself, you don't have to have your whole life planned out by the time you're old enough to drink. Sometimes life just moves along as it goes, and that's ok. When you're ready for your next step, you'll know! And the real thing won't be as scary as it seems.
Anyway, I got a little long winded there. Thanks for the awesome video and happy birthday again! You're an inspiration to me, it's nice to have someone from gen z in the commentary game, and it makes me so happy to see you and your points being respected by others despite you being younger than them. Pls have a wonderful day full of celebration and good vibes 💗
Why do people talk about abortions like it is an invention? Isn't a practice, wouldn't you say someone came up with the idea of abortions? It's like saying "I invented surgery."

Advice from a 36 year old: I don't have my shit together either and there are big life decisions I'm still not sure about and things about my identity I didn't even figure out till my 30s. You don't have to get it all right the first time. You just have to do the best you can with the information you have at the time, and then be nice to yourself later as you learn and get better information. Be willing to accept when you need more info and be willing to be compassionate. You're already on the right track. You'll be alright 👍
You're for sure doing better than this guy you're commenting on geez. He's so cringe. He's literally just brainlessly regurgitating conservative talking points. Also //rubs temples// I've said this like 87 times other places and I'll say it here too: EVOLUTION AND BELIEF IN GOD ARE NOT INCOMPATIBLE. YOU CAN BELIEVE IN GOD CREATING SHIT IF YOU WANT AND THAT THE PHYSICAL MANIFESTATION OF THAT PROCESS IS WHAT WE OBSERVE AS EVOLUTION
happy birthday saji! I just turned 21 a few weeks ago and completely understand that fear. I never feel like I'm ready to be an adult or survive on my own, but as we all grow, I know we'll figure it out. another fantastic video, hope you're doing well
Saji, I literally just turned 23 and I too feel confused about everything while also feeling like I'm already ancient. I don't think that ever goes away no matter how old you get. Being an adult is just trying to figure out how to adult literally the entire time lmao
this was a relief to read honestly because I’m 22 and I feel the same way, thanks and good luck out there

The fact that he interviews random people on wallmart who aren’t prepared for this and they still end up sounding smarter than him even though he’s the one posting the videos
Maybe Garrett should actually touch some grass on his way to Walmart, then he might actually catch some bugs AND some knowledge. Also happy birthday!! I relate so much to the fear of getting older, it is scary and you don't know who you're going to become until it happens
Okay, dude first of all, excellent video. On to the age thing, my ex husband (I am old enough to be your mom) was one of those people who had facial fair like you and when he was in his teens it made him look about 25. You’re anxiety about feeling like you’re getting old is normal. You’re going from being a teenager to and adult and it is a big deal. It’s not a bad thing, you have so many awesome life experiences in front of you so yay!
The funny part about that Garret guy is he’s like so close to getting it and yet so far away. And he actually posts the videos where he’s proved wrong. I just am so glad I got to watch that.
I’ve never seen your channel before but I’m subscribed now. Keep up the good work! :)
“Why are there still monkeys if there’s humans” is like saying “why are your parents still alive if you were born?” 3:16 excusing the fact that he’s just wrong about us coming from monkeys his gotcha logic doesn’t make any sense lol
i think the thing people don’t understand about evolution is number one, we didn’t come from monkeys. we share a common ancestor. and number two, it’s not an us and them thing where there’s apes and us. we are apes

I'm 32. On my 20th birthday I remember feeling old, especially because I found a random, gray hair on my chest. But after 30, your body starts betraying you and you realize what it means to at least "feel" old.
All that being said, Wal-Mart kid couldn't hold a candle to a leftist in their 30s. We've had all these conversations countless times throughout our lives and could easily point out the bullshit.
I've had the very same "Lincoln was racist" conversation a million times. He freed the slaves purely for economic reasons. Or saying that sex and gender are the same when they obviously aren't. And there are more than 2 sexes. Regurgitating talking points from unreliable sources shouldn't give these people so much confidence.
Happy birthday brother, I recently discovered you after I wanted to find someone on here to flame Avaneesh and you're absolutely my favourite youtuber at the moment. Keep it up!
honestly props to all the people that are keeping their cool through garrett's bs. i probly woulda given him a wholeass TED Talk and/or a knuckle sandwich and then just walked away (also happy belated birthday, saji!!)
The fact he feels so educated about the topic of evolution without knowing the first thing about it, and continues to get trigger because she asks him if he went to college, is gold.
i just came across your channel and i absolutely love how you go about reacting to things and giving commentary. you don’t sugarcoat serious issues, and you still manage to make jokes and be funny while still making excellent points and bringing something worthwhile to the conversation. i find a lot of the commentary scene is just dude bros making the same jokes and the same comments while bringing nothing of value to the topics they for some reason decide to make videos about. you seem very intelligent and passionate about what you do and i love to see it :))
The bonobo monkey is our closest living relative. So I think that means there kinda is a species between regular monkeys and humans. If u look at their feet compared to other monkey's and compared to ours they're the closest. Also if u look at our facial structures they're still very similar.. so yeah I'd say evolution is real.
"Evolution is false"
*hits bro in the tailbone*
its funny how he talks about fat people in a restaurant when he's in that restaurant too. i think that's further proof that body type isn't determined by "laziness", but it just being a part of normal human variation.
My fat body type is because over the years I've decided to just give myself over to absolute pleasure lol. I'm hedonistic in a way and I don't really care about how I look, I do physical activity at work and I go for walks and stuff so I don't get morbidly obese, but I figure as long as I don't have tlc knocking on my door wanting to exploit me for ratings I'm not doing too bad.
To answer Garret's evolution question: we didn't evolve *from* apes or monkeys, rather, we share a common ancestor that we both evolved from. Evolution is a branching process, some events and conditions can cause a split, much like why we-homo-sapiens-developed higher intelligence and increased brain function, and why we also evolved into becoming bipedal. With current apes and monkeys, well, there's no reason for them to evolve as we did; they have everything they need that is easily accessible. If something *were* to happen, possibly habitat destruction or a big change in their condition, then yes, they might begin to evolve. But, evolution can take *millions* of years. For homo-sapiens, it took six million years for us to become what we are today.

“I would’ve just like…I would’ve just- I would’ve just like yelled at him.”
And I would’ve punched him. :)
I would be more impressed if he interviewed a police officer or someone in the military and asked if they believe in "socialism".
God I feel so sorry for his parents what a disappointment ☠️
Really? This is most likely exactly the kind of person his parents raised him to be, arrogantly and willfully ignorant with a hand full of stubbornness thrown in.
"you identify someone by their parts"
I'll be honestly, of all the people I've seen in my life, I haven't seen very many of their genitals. So how could I ever know - based on that logic?
his main audience is people at walmart because he knows people at Walmart are more likely to not know wtf he's talking about
And that they can’t leave the store until they’re done shopping
Where he was trying to go with the "who freed the slaves" question is very deceptive. He wanted to use the right wing talking point that it was the Republican party who freed the slaves and not the Democratic party. But everyone who is older than 25 and actually went to college learned that the parties switched platforms after the Civil Rights movement in the 60's. The southern "Dixiecrats/Democrats became Republicans and northern states started to identify as Democrats. But he clearly couldn't remember the punchline to that talking point. He is literally just regurgitating things he is hearing without truly understanding the thought. He is an absorber of misinformation and propaganda . His fascist parents are probably extremely proud of him.
I've never been to college and even I understand that fact, if he doesn't know it's either because his parents restricted what he was allowed to learn and it killed his desire for gaining knowledge, or he himself is willfully ignorant.
I'm turning 20 as well in a few months, and oh boy, it's freaking me out too. It's nice to know that that's kinda normal/I'm not alone. As always, Saji the goat - ily
