I live in oatman Arizona so when I was scrolling through your videos I was so surprised when I found this, you even caught my house in the background of a couple clips. now then I'll enlighten you on a few things about our town. the white dirt stuff you called a drought is called "tailings" and its part of the gold mining process and there is actually gold in it. the thing you thought was a sink hole was actually a mine shaft and there everywhere out here I find new ones all the time. the concrete ruins with the paining on it we call "the mural" and you made a good guess but unfortunately it was very wrong, it was actually where they had a bunch of milling equipment for gold mining and there is an other mine shaft right up the hill from it. the concrete ruins you found with the burnt wood was a mill for an other mine. the hotel actually was not the first hotel, the first one was called "the Arizona" and that leads me to the last thing. the mine you went in in the beginning of the video was not a real mind in fact it was a root cellar for the Arizona, basically it was a hole they dug to keep food and other things cold hope this helped! if you have any more questions fire away and I'll do my best to answer them for you!
@@katystarcher3363 hey I'm late but the hotel is said to be haunted by a ghost named "oddie" I worked there for a short time and it was sorta creepy being in the building by yourself after closing. There's defiantly a lot more ghost stories about the area as well
@@mikaelachavez1600 there's hundreds of old gold mines around the area I would maybe start there. Also old out houses are like a treasure chest if you can find them!
My nightly routine seems to be binge watching your videos. Even repeating some older ones. But seeing all these beautiful forgotten pieces of this world, is a nice experience.
HEY!!! look at that. I grew up in Oatman Az. lots of memories of that town. the rock building is a watch post, it was used to keep a watch out for outlaws trying to rob the gold mines.
The town Oatman was named for the Oatman family massacre that happened when there were still hostile indians in the area. The only surviving girl, Olive Oatman, was taken in by the indians and treated as family. She grew up with them, and had her face tattooed like them. Eventually she was "rescued", but stated she'd been treated well.
Years ago before we had color tv there was program in black and white that was called Route 66, maybe you should look it up, it was based on Route 66, of course.
Ah so happy your visiting Arizona. You should go to a town called Tombstone Arizona. It is a pretty well known place down there with the people living around it. But it's beautiful and I just love it. I honestly miss Arizona a lot and seeing this just makes me want to book a ticket to Arizona right now. Even though the heat is Hell I would trade it for Virginia weather which is fucked up.
Lorelei Taylor I lived in Phoenix for just 4 years but the things I miss most are the smell of orange blossoms and I can't think of the name of it but when you go for walks at night you can smell it really good. I wanted to go to Tombstone so many times! I heard there were a lot of old hippies that lived up there and bikers and being an old hippie myself it really sounded good. I miss it too, but I miss Montana more I think. I live in Texas which is where I was born and we have a lot of cool things here to investigate. I'll have to find out more information and let Josh know. Actually, Montana is full of ghost towns and there are some that are totally abandoned..
OMG your videos are so golden Josh, Ive been following for a long time and remember when it was just a gopro. Keep it up and have fun always doing what you love
I love how the song goes so well with the scenery! It's so chilling! And the ending with y'all on the rocks is so badass! Y'all look like you're conquering the world!
ive gone to this town a couple of times when i was a kid (my dad is a huge route 66 buff) and so seeing you go there was so cool! thanks for the video!
Thank you Josh/friends for bringing sites I'd otherwise would never see, to be enjoyed. The music you provide with the drone shots is also very tranquil, and soothing. Peace to you!
i didn't notice but pretty much the next day he shared some thoughts about "mistakes being a part of life" lol. anyway i don't think it was all jealousy, there were many dudes just wanting to look out for him. it is the internet though, it's to be expected.
Watching this video made me remember of some photos my mom has of us when my siblings and i were kids and on one i am on a donkey (if i'm not wrong) and couldn't stop thinking about how it really looks like the pictures from my mom until i realized it's the same place and it's near i was born and raised till i was 4.

When I went through the town several years ago the donkeys stood right in the street and never moved. I was stuck at a stop for 15 minutes. Nice drone work at the end.
Out near Goodyear, AZ, just off of the I-10, there's an abandoned horse racing track called the Phoenix Trotting Park. It was abandoned back in 1966. Back in 1998, a Charlie/Martin Sheen movie was filmed there called No Code of Conduct. They filmed an explosion there which is said to have killed a lot of pigeons.
I took route 66 to Oatman about 2 months ago and continued on rte 66 to flagstaff...then went to Zion...best trip ever! (altho the cali coastline runs a close 2nd)...next? Going to new york in october! (long island to visit a friend and possibly will see the ny city skyline only, due to the riots)...1st time

Amazing landscapes. I'm so glad you got the drone shots! Thanks.
Wicked ending shot too!

Fuck yeah
YAS
+Samantha they should do that lol
Great idea
There is a point of no return they cannot cross. There is a boundary marked with a sign that says the Area 51 guards can shoot you if you cross it.
That ending drone shot is the best work you all have done so far. Stellar.
