Jake Madison tries to make sense of the latest rumors between the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings and while an Ingram trade doesn't make that much sense on the surface, if you look further you can see why a deal would get done. The Kings fans are really NOT on this get "BI" train. Same thing with Lavine (they just drafted a guard Carter) and Kuzma i think is just smoke and he'll use Sacramento to elevate his "value". The kings are looking to get a forward or center right now. But the kings just need elite talent... So if getting rid of HB and huerter or other... Gets in better talent.. or as the host said "lower talent" but financial flexibility. So Kings get an upgraded talent and pels get future flexibility. Kind of a wash.

      There’s not many options for us to get the defensive minded wing to replace Barnes so why not get Ingram? He’s never played with a guard on the same level as Fox or a center like Sabonis. Same with those two on the Kings, they’ve never played with a wing of that caliber. You look at all the games where Barnes scored and played well (rarely) we ended up winning. All I’m gonna say is we were a much better defensive team with Keon starting so I don’t see harm in getting Ingram

    I think the market for BI is limited because he's got one year left on his contract and nobody thinks his midrange heavy game is worth a 4 year max contract, which is what he wants. Nobody is giving New Orleans one or two good players on reasonable contracts plus 2 or 3 first round picks for him. People need to be realistic about what the Pels are going to get for BI if they make a trade. If they keep him, they get nothing for him a year from now when he's a UFA.

  • @Tom-cr3md
    @Tom-cr3md 2 дня назад +11

    Unless you are trading Ingram for Myles turner or Markkanen, it would be dumb of the pelicans to trade him. We need a scoring center who can rebound and play defense. Why blow up the big 4 of Zion,Ingram,cj and Murray right now. I personally would ask Murphy to play some small ball center and insert herb into starting lineup and bring cj at 32 starting for second unit. We would be putting pressure on defenses for 4 quarters. Ingram is so talented, trading him for the kings deal of huerter and Barnes is a joke. Again we have four legit 20 point scorers, it would be the most explosive pelicans team ever. Look at the Mavs they won with centers who can’t shoot a lick. Throw our big four out there with Yves. Again you don’t trade Ingram if you have been blessed to acquire Murray without giving up any of your top player. Trading down makes no sense.

      The Mavs won with centers who can't shoot (but were athletic and played in the dunker spot) because they had 4 guys who spread the floor around them and 2 primary ball handlers who drew double teams until they faced a Celtics team that had the personnel to defend Doncic and Irving straight up most of the time. If you try to play a center who can't shoot the 3 plus Zion and BI together, defenses are going to clog up the middle. A bunch of scorers who all need the ball in their hands doesn't work. Zion can play with or without the ball in his hands if the players on the floor with him spread the defense. The Pels need to replace BI with one or more 3 and D guys.

  • @pelsfan23
    @pelsfan23 2 дня назад +1

    I don't get negotiating with Sacramento to trade Brandon Ingram unless it brings Sabonis to Pels or is part of a three team trade that brings back a starting center that is a spacer. If Zion is our elite scorer and we know his game is at the rim we can't have a center that can only play around the basket with no outside shot who would bring more defenders to Zion. I can't imagine the Pelican's leadership doesn't see this but look at who we've had as starting centers the past few years. Holmes seems like he may have been a better fit in this regard than Missi who gives you no shooting away from the basket even if these are rookies that might not play much right away. Seems like a center who can score some away from the basket and play defense is the missing piece for the Pels to make a deep playoff run. Pels need to find a way to get this. Hope this is their plan.

      They are focusing on a center. Most of the centers being mentioned fill that role to some extent. And they need to fill roster spots and those type of players are easier to get than scorers etc. the pelicans are a defensive minded team and they’ll be looking for player to fill those roles. With Jalen Smith going to the Bulls, I think the most reastic target is Wendell Carter Jr. Ingram for Carter and Isaac. If we can get a 1st round pick from them for next year, that's a big plus. Magic have two 1st in 2025 and 2026. Carter to start at Center. Isaac a nice 3&D guy. Would help with losing Naji. And Isaac comes off his big contract at the end of the year.

I think he's always thought of himself as a #1 player and hasn't been willing to adapt his game to the modern NBA and become a 3 and D player who could also maybe be your ball centric scoring option 10-15 minutes a game with your second unit. He sees himself as the guy who should have the ball in his hands at crunch time and we saw how that worked against the Thunder. There doesn't appear to be much of a trade market for BI because he wants a long term max deal and nobody thinks he a max contract player. Cleveland should be a perfect fit, and they apparently don't want him.
