Stock displacement and valve sizes and 7500rpm rev limit, I'd expect 380-400whp after David Vizard does his magic (or you copy his work and do it, yourself). All out with a big bore, a bunch of headwork, and an 8500rpm rev limit you can probably get 450whp with a DV-style build(assuming manual 2wd 15% drivetrain loss). I mean, if it's putting out 450whp N/A then you can "easily" get double that, relatively reliably, and with a responsive setup through boost if you build the boost setup right. And if you want to give up some response (which you wouldn't really be losing much at this power level due to traction limitations) you could even so much as triple your N/A power with boost on a "streetable" build. 450 times 3 is 1350whp. That's faster than anyone reasonably needs to go, quite frankly, and while this would definitely be deep pockets/full custom territory, it's the same game (comparatively speaking) as the LS, Mopar, and Coyote builds. Would it not be worth it at that point to at least be unique? All it takes to sound good is the right exhaust setup. Where can I find a 4.3 lv3 intake manifold with port injection? I want to keep the direct injection and add port on top of that. I have found the engine, mds delete kit with cam, aftermarket forged pistons and rods. Just haven't found an appropriate intake manifold. Will be deleting the cam advance/retard and mds obviously. Planning a gt35/gt40 r ball bearing turbo (single). Thanks for what you do...have been a fan for over 5 years now. Really enjoy the big bang stuff and like that you aren't stuck on one brand (only Chevy only Ford etc). Also a mild camshaft compatible with the DI delete but I'm unfamiliar with the LT cams that would pair good with this and be "mild" for a street car with good valvetrain stability/spring life. Power goals: I'd be perfectly fine with 6-800whp, preferring to land somewhere at or slightly above 700. Any suggestions? Any videos/tests/articles of yours in particular to check out?
for 700 wheel hp-why wouldn't you just run an LS?
@richardholdener1727 I still may lol. Honestly it's more the platform/options, and the cool factor. I'm not afraid to say it like most guys lol. I think it'd just be cool honestly. I mean, I DID also have a carbureted AND distributored LS1 lol. Just purely to be different! That's a test I'd like you to do! COP 5.3 vs distributor 5.3! Just because.
@@richardholdener1727How do you feel about this cam in a stock 5.3 with 799 heads? Auto trans 3600 stall (already in there). How do you feel it'll tune out/drive/idle /etc?

Maximum Lift (in) W/ 1.7 Rocker: Intake: .525 / Exhaust: .525
Lobe Centerline ( deg): 112
if all you changed was the ignition-I doubt there would be any power change
it will be fine with that stall
Bore is close to LS1. 3.90. Great little engine.
LT valve style, tho. Right?
does anyone know where i can get my lv3 tuned i got the truck norris cam
Please help. how can i swap my 14 silverado with a 19 sierra lv3? water pump diff and oil pan??
what does it have now
Is this the engine that came out of Astro vans?
No, 14'-18' Chevy Pickups and 18' and up Chevy Express vans
What about a 03-06/7 lu3 4.3 v6? I picked a truck up with a knocking one and want to do something different then just “ls swap” it bot building a race truck just want a fun daily driver lol
Do an Engine flush for lifter tap (sounds like a sewing machine)
@@shadowopsairman1583 don’t think that will help this one but never know,it has 35-40 oil pressure idling I bought it not running guy said it wouldn’t crank I put fresh gas charged battery and everything worked even has a ice cold ac just knocks 🤦🏻♂️ I haven’t had a chance to dig into it yet but it kinda sounds like a rod knock honestly but then again I’m not a mechanic just a parts changer trying to learn on my own lol ruclips.net/user/shortspuKfz5YNKDY?feature=share
I have a spare new 4.3 what do I do to make 400 hp out of it
cam and ported heads and intake
Its posible a swap of LV3 to a s10 xtreme 2002?
yes-but difficult
The problem with this 4.3 is they’re more expensive than the 4.8 and 5.3 ls motors from the wrecking yard
LV1 even
I noticed the same. until these are cheaper than an LS, it's going to be limited. they'll fit in tighter spaces and they're about 100 lbs lighter than a aluminum block LS, but.... more $ (?) and more $ to swap. I think they'll make great swap engines in many applications, if the cost comes down, as in sub $600. so lets hope GM sells them by the crap-ton, so they're sitting in every junkyard soon enough.
@@OndreaS123these should start appearing in your pap
On ebay they are not more expensive when compared to aluminum gen 5 5.3s...just compared to iron block gen 3/4 4.8s/5.3s
4.3V6 just find a LU3
Please tell me there's a turbo in it's future.
YES-MAYBE 2
Dude bundle o Snakes 6into1 forward header with a Big ol Turbo on that!!!! 689hp 524Tq?!!!
So does this fall under 1996 1500 4.3?
this v6 is much later and a different engine family
It's been used for a few years now, so what years are better? And vehicles that they come in?
Thanks
they are all good
The LV3 was introduced in the 2014 model year. Sadly, now it's out of production. Replaced by the 2.7L turbo 4.
Porting? Nonono. I wanna see some boost!!
BTR says they don't make an intake for this engine? but it says here they made one?
prototype
Was it tricky getting this to run outside of the vehicle?
not for the guys at BTR
Is my 2000 silverado 4.3 v6 an Lv3?
no
Now im gonna have to save for a T56.
Perfect for Miata
Is there a weight comparo ? Say, LV1/3 vs 4.8 ?
Aluminum block vs Iron block, excluding L33 aluminum block.
You can do a LU3 and its very healthy.
LV3 weighs 315 lbs fully dressed. 4.8 weighs 420.
Love to see this one 🎉
does any one build a custom intake for a 4.3 v6 vortec????
I have been thinking about swapping an LV3 into an S10 and after this video im curious what you think an LV3 with long tube headers and the Truck Norris jr cam would have much benefit to having the heads ported? also keeping in mind I was planning to turbo later on to make more of a modern take on a Syclone
ported heads will help
What throttle body is this?
l86
Where can I find a 4.3 lv3 intake manifold with port injection? I want to keep the direct injection and add port on top of that. I have found the engine, mds delete kit with cam, aftermarket forged pistons and rods. Just haven't found an appropriate intake manifold. Will be deleting the cam advance/retard and mds obviously. Planning a gt35/gt40 r ball bearing turbo (single). I want to be able to rev it out to 8500 rpm (for transmission amd final drive ratio reasons) so I will definitely need heavier valve springs and maybe replace the valves with titanium etc. If I can keep the build under 20k and meet my goals (800whp and safely Rev to at least 8500rpm) then the build will be a success.
Thanks for what you do...have been a fan for over 5 years now. Really enjoy the big bang stuff and like that you aren't stuck on one brand (only Chevy only Ford etc). I like many engines from many manufacturers. This particular build I have chosen because of the small packaging and great hp potential.
Thanks again.
you need to make it
Turbo, turbo, turbo
Did they delete the balance shaft or leave it intact and connected?
delete
What year is the engine?
2014+
Are the rods/piston similar to L83 other than bore?
THINNER BUT SAME LENGTH
Rod bearing diameter is larger to make up for the narrower big end width.
Everything I've been able to find is wrong. Is the pin end the same as the L83?
Make a good motor for my C4 Corvette.
LS
@@shadowopsairman1583 This motor is lighter making for an agile track car, with a standard iron sbc I can get the car to 2900 pounds, carbon fiber hood used, etc. With this motor 2750??
Gotta put a turbo on it if you put one in a C4.
How much can a new V6 be bored?
Same as the old LS1. .007" is pushing it.
Aluminum block, not very far
Cut and splice a 6.2 block and use the 4.3 crank . Hahaha . That'll get you 4.8 liters. Then offset grind the journals ....might get you 5.0?
I have a 94 GMC Jimmy bone stock 4.3 and it's with the early spider injector.
I'll take this engine over the one I have any day 😫😫
Hat up Rich
I didn't even know this engine existed, as a proud Australian I can say, "Barra? what is one of those?" This is what Holden needed to keep the company alive, Fuck that barramundi that ran GM into the ground.
Imagine someone swapping this in a corvette
Let's continue down this path with the 3800 family of V6's. There are tons of them in 4th Gen F Bodies out there that want a little more grunt! 👍😁
lots of 3800 vids up
@@richardholdener1727 not very many good ones though.
Who makes a 4 inch stroker crank for the V6?
Nobody.
Was this one dod deleted? Or are the cams compatible with dod?
dod was eliminated
Damn. Thanks.
@@craigquann Scoggin Dickey makes dod delete for these

@shadowopsairman1583 yes I know.
Amazing channel!
In my view a v6 needs a turbo and nos.
