Its going to be interesting. Ogier has nothing to lose, he and most of us hate the new points system. So if he loses the title it doesn’t mean much for him. Neuville has everything to lose. If he can have 15pt cushion heading into CER then he's looking comfortable. As for Taka. He can't have another crash this year or he could possibly be on a part time season next year. I hope he doesn’t have to do what Formaux and Loubet had to do. Which is when they start pushing and fighting for good points they make mistakes and then end up going really slow just to score points.

It is sad that a part time driver is in a position to try for the title, but Ogier really has been very good and consistent this season. I think thats important to remember.
It would be really interesting to know how the points would be with the old system right now.

He has, and it would be a great story if he did win title number 9 after missing three rallies. I'm not sure how different the points would be. Maybe I need to sit and work it out!

Ogier would be 3 points away from Neuville in old point system(no super Sunday or Saturday points). and if there where no power stage points either, Ogier would lead by 18 points and Evans and Neuville would be sharing 2nd place with equal points.

The sport, and WRC needs Neuville to win the title; otherwise it would be a poor look for the sport. It must be said that Ogier hasn't had to run at the front on gravel events, and has gained massively from this, which has negated missing rounds.
Something not mentioned is the full time drivers weren't likely considering Ogier in the early events, so drove for points, not trying to take him on - as he wasn't doing the full series.
One feels for Evans; and as well as I don't think he's driven well this season, he hasn't had the full support from his team; I can't recall him benefitting from team orders too many times when either Ogier/Rovanpera have been ahead of him....

"It must be said that Ogier hasn't had to run at the front on gravel events, and has gained massively from this, which has negated missing rounds"
Umm? And Neuville has gained EVEN MORE, by being able to score points in THREE MORE ROUNDS! He had the potential to score what, 75 more points than Ogier in those 3 rounds.
Let's at least be realistic here. Kalle managed to win the title twice, while having to deal with the early starting positions. If Neuville thought it would be better to run further back, he could have purposely driven slowly in the early rounds, to score less points and get the later road position in later rounds.
But, after his whinge about having to start at the front in Latvia, at least he was honest enough to say in Finland that "sometimes starting first works for you".

there haven't really even been any situations they could've helped Evans with team orders, and team orders suck anyway. Evans been benefiting most from Toyota having no team orders, he's been allowed to win events and take a points from Ogier and Kalle, even fight for championship with Ogier. that would never happen in Huyndai. do you think Evans would be number 1 driver in Toyota when Kalle comes back next year?
