You two young folks are amazing. Sailing in some of the most remote waters on the planet in weather only an Eskimo could love and you never complain. Instead you love the adventure. I watch quite a few sailing channels with young people sailing in the warm waters of the Caribbean and listen to them complain if they get some rain or the price of a drink at one of the beach eateries is to high. It's so refreshing watching a channel with two young people who embrace the outdoors in some real adverse weather and you laugh and love the adventure. Stay safe and continue to enjoy nature and all it has to offer once you leave all the things that most people require to be happy. I really envy you and your simple perfect lifestyle.
I know absolutely zilch about sailing, but since I have virtualy become house bound, due to ill health, I have been watching and enjoying your videos so very much. They are entertaining, informative, and you both bring me so much pleasure watching, listening and dreaming that I am a part of that life too. all i can say is THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.
Last year after anchoring in the Puget Sound I untied my dinghy and jumped in only to find no oars, no key on the outboard, and strong winds swiftly blowing me away from my boat. No radio or cellphone either! Sunset was an hour away. I had never paddled so swiftly using only my arms!
yeah, we usually carry a shore bag with a good amount of emergency equipment with us. One of the biggest dangers here I think is that you leave the dinghy and come back to find out that a bear has ripped it apart...
I am constantly amazed at your seamanship and clear thinking in your decisions. Your explanation of why you changed anchorages made a lot of sense. I travelled down the Inside Passage once and immediately felt at home in the area. Looking forward to your next video and the quality of your videos keeps getting better.
It was very nice to hear your insight for choosing anchorages but my real purpose in commenting today is to say how this episode was particularly beautiful and relaxing. Thank you for your time in creating this and all of your videos.
It's a good thing factories around the world make millions of 10 mm sockets every day. The gravitational pull on these sockets is huge, whether on land or sea. Also a good thing that (so far) no one pays a tax per socket on lost ones. If the authorities ever do, I'll be broke. 8^) Great to see you and Sohvi again, happy sailing!
Thank you for this look at the day and the life of alluring Arctic sailing. This nice to see you having fun. I still love your boat it seems perfectly suited for how you use it.
You both look great, like the arctic setting, as though at home. , Oh, right, you are both at home in cold North. Thanks for taking us along, and watch out for the bears.
Give us more! ❤ We would love an extended episode. How’s the boat holding up? What will you refit with when home? Tell us and we’ll listen to anything. Cheers!!
The poem you showed us in the recent episode ending at Sointula is called "Sea-Fever" by John Masefield. He wrote many such salt-water ballads. Love the channel.
Great photography and so much for there being nothing of note there, it’s stunningly beautiful. Really liked the editing on this one, nicely paced to carry a viewer along with it. Stay safe and warm you two. Cheers, R.
Hey I’m enjoy your adventure. I live in Victoria and I know the coast well. Its was fun to experience many familiar places through your eyes. Stay safe. Good luck with the northern passage.
You are an ambassador for tourism in the Arctic region ! Your country must take notice of the beauty and the thrills of travelling and sailing in your region. Well done to you both for delivering an honesty and humility with your content. Inspired ! 🇦🇺 🪃
I so enjoyed this post. No great drama but a wonderfully evocative feel of cruising life. I never cruised in these latitudes and never will now but I could feel myself there. And of course your beautiful cinematography enhanced it all. Thank you
Paddled canoe ten thousand miles in the coastal waters of Alaska. Before my first trip a commercial fisherman said to me, "You have to worry about the winds blowing in the straights and passes. And that's all there is here, straights and passes."
Even though most of the video footage from the refitting process was lost, I would still love to see an episode where you talk through the stuff you did, and perhaps present it from the current perspective. You could comment on how the boat holds up in the environment you are in, what was made better and what you would do differently. How is the boat sailing and what makes it special?
Ahoy, I've been with you since getting your boat. I really like you. I'm 78 no longer living the sailing life except through youtube. I love tropical but find your calling interesting having grown up in Minnesota. You have a lovely mate. I'm in my third set of dreadlocks. These are now reaching below my knees. Highest Blessings
When i was a sea scout we had a rule that all outboards have to be tied with a piece of rope on to the boat. That saved our outboard a few times when the tightening screws got loose.
Beautiful sunny morning after the storm🌞💚 I bet the vent gas cap needs to be open, and turn up the idle a small amount so as to not stall shifting in gear smoothly
Dear both of you I am always impressed by the matter-of-fact way you go about things as seen in your videos. Very impressive…👍🙏 I wish you a good and safe journey and hope to support you in the not too distant episodes….
wow, just incredibale.i watch james in the tropics and alluring artic circle .both video makers are a master class productions as far as im concerned.thank you for sharing your experiences with nature with a partner who shares your passion.
Noticed your OB tank was quite full. You probably forgot to open the tank vent or it was frozen over and sealed creating a vacuum and preventing the fuel in your gravitational fuel feed system from flowing into the carb. Trust me - I've done it myself with that very motor. It happened to me on Catalina Island at night in the summer. I had no oars or radio and the wind was blowing me out of Two harbors toward LA when an accommodating young lady took me in tow back to the island, festivities and embarrassment.
Yes, I think a wood stove would be a fantastic source of heat not only for burning cardboard waste but there is so much driftwood on that area you would have an infinite supply of fuel!
Outstanding episode ! Especially liked some of the close up scenes on the boat and forest. Showing the chart and topo and explaining puts things into perspective. Good to see Sohvi smiling 🙂 Thanks!
Nää videot on todella hyvin tehty- Kiitos, kun editoitte ne! Kaikki toimet näkyy hyvin- drounaukset leikkaa hyvin et näkyy koko alue. Hienoja reissuja teillä on- tää talvipurjehdus on omaa laatuaan+ selität hyvin mitä& miksi teet asiat näin.
I think its safe to say in this situation that experience, common sense, and the ability to see topography can be a good thing when local knowledge is not available.
Despite the fact that your outboard is rubbish, please tie it to the boat when transferring it to the dinghy. If you slip, you may never see it again! Love your work, better than translating.
Prior visitors who implied it was of boring scenery - maybe they could not see the Trees for the Forest Looking forward to you filming some Wildlife which I am sure you will see
Hello, David here, from Patagonia Argentina, I've been a follower for some time now and I enjoy the videos a lot, the navigation stories are good. Best wishes, I'll wait for you in the next video/adventure.
The best sailing chanel at the moment. You have improved a lot since you started. Beautiful scenery. I realyy like it. Thanks a lot. Looking forward for the next video.
Another great episode from Alluring Arctic. Oh my goodness the beauty of nature in winter. Stunning and magnificent. Great snowball first snowball shot fired Sohvi!!! Thanks for sharing.
Interesting explanation of your anchoring decision process. The 10mm socket is the sacricial lamb of all mechanical tasks. You should budget at least one for every job done. My boat has eaten a few over the years.
Beautiful Alaska , I was so many times I really like it very much , but in the summer, not in the winter . Sailing in the winter more challenging. Thank you guys for sharing
What you did was great with the card board and wood waste and paper . I am retired for last 13 years … in Canada …. Just getting by … love a bit of sailing and like what you are doing in the winter , especially in the winter and far North . Been to Southern Norway in the 1970 . You are a specialist in maintaining your all your sail boats and will go a long ways in your journeys… l sorry I can’t donate any money to your videos,,, but I do wish you the best in your life journey that will bring joy to your happiness
I’ve been watching since you guys purchased the boat! I really like your humanity and being present. I wanted to reach out after hearing about the job situation. I know you can’t see it now, but some day you will look back at this and know it was all part of a master plan. I’m working on my 14th album, Trust the Journey, and I have to keep telling myself I am where I’m supposed to be. I believe that for you and your adventures. Trust your heart and you can never go wrong! Stay safe out there!
Bedankt
Your knowledge of boats, the environment and sailing is simply the best. We can all learn from you. You are a brilliant orator and teacher.
I finally understand the derivation of the English word "leeway." Thank you.

Amen!
10 mm sockets are a universal item lost on the bottom. Carry spares. Thanks for the episode.
yes, i have learned my lesson. have spares now ;)
That's always the one socket missing. Haha

My circumstances and sentiments also, thank you for typing what I was about to.

@@MaShcode Who is usually the cameraman 😀
@@AlluringArctic Are they a problem this time of the year? I am only used to the polar bears roaming the streets on Drumsö.

thanks so much nick!
I agree, he is very calm, reflective and wise beyond his years.
I could feel the solitude, peace and tranquility,no human tracks, just surrounded by nature. That reflects back to me beauty....
That's such a unique boat and you were smart to see its virtues and buy it.
Loved the "fight" scene, genuinely laughed out loud.
Your videography is incredible: stunningly beautiful scenery and well captured on the drone
It was very nice to hear your insight for choosing anchorages but my real purpose in commenting today is to say how this episode was particularly beautiful and relaxing. Thank you for your time in creating this and all of your videos.
Snowball fight! ❄️🏔Thanks for sharing the beautiful scenery.
Thanks
thanks so much thomas!

there must be some kind of a conspiracy behind the 10mm socket market... led by the illuminati or something, surely!
@@AlluringArctic Could be! Cheers.
If you find the missing 10mm socket would you see if it's lying on my missing dryer sock? LOL
@@davevillaire2990 No chance! It’s wherever my last Sharpie marker pen went…..and all of the others😂
Enjoyed a tremendous sense of peace seeing the forest filling up with snow after you re-anchored. Thanks!
Authenticity. That’s what this is about. Keep doing it your way!
The snow ball fight bit was brilliant 😂 But the whole video was very engaging and interesting!

10 & 13mm sockets seem to be the most common thing the ocean likes to consume, glad I'm not alone!
Landcruisers eat 14mm sockets.
I think Alaska is so big and beautiful. It's a great area to visit.
