First goal at just 54 seconds by the Pinks. After winning the toss and sending the ball deep into the Blue half, Pink attackers rush to capitalise but the Blue defender gets there in time. But he tumbles while lining up leaving the attacker in perfect position to slam one in bottom-right. Blue keeper comes off standby way too late and stomps angrily. The ball is re-spotted with the Blues in control. Bluey sends the ball just a few inches over the line before collapsing, but as the Pink midfielder wanders over and lines itself up, see how another Blue makes a long dash to contest. But the Pink guy fights well and gets the ball past the Blue and into the enemy half - Bluey takes a dive but it’s woefully unconvincing. But now at 2:30 begins a brilliant run by a new Blue, who he gets past one, then two, then three, with Pinks tumbling around. It’s a bit untidy, but using superior speed it reaches the far right post and, deftly dispatching the defender, slips one past the keeper, but the ball hits the post. There’s a bit of argy-bargy in the aftermath but no foul is given. I couldn’t watch any more: football's not really my thing.
They haven't quite grapsed the concept of "diving" yet, though. It's the attacker that's supposed to do it to win a free kick, not the defender to allow the other side to score. :-D
When will we see a more active Robocup tournament than this? Answer: When the tech guys at Boston Dynamics miniaturized their latest humanoid robot into this size; we will definitely get to watch one of the most entertaining robotic football match. 😁
