Vinterland - Welcome My Last Chapter

In Aeternum - Forever Blasphemy
Midvinter - At the Sight of the Apocalypse Dragon
Abyssos - Together We Summon the Dark
Naglfar - Diabolical

The Moaning - Blood from Stone (i still need this album)

Thy Primordial - Under Iskoll Troll Mane
Vergelmer - Light the Black Flame
Vargavinter - Frostfodd
Watain - Sworn to the Dark

Mork Gryning - Tusen Ar Har Gatt
Siebenburgen - Delictum
Wonderful list and yes, Vinterland is an extraordinary band that deserves MUCH MORE recognition! Hail from Brazil my friend!
Nice collection as always! This genre is my absolutely favorite, I like the haunting nocturnal atmosphere. My favorites from Sweden are still:
Sacramentum - Finis Malorum / Far away from the Sun
Dissection: Somberlain, Storm of the Light´ s Bane
Setherial: Nord
Vinterland: Welcome my Last chapter
Fuck yeah! \m/
@@MotleyCrueforever1 Apparently Sacramentum are playing Far Away from the Sun in its entirety at MDF May 2020. Just on the offchance you may not have heard. Should be worth the entrance fee for this alone. \m/
Setherial - Nord is fucking awesome as hell. I love how many different change ups they have
best ranking, can't agree more
Thanks a lot for your videos... I´m discovering bunch of bands that were unknown for me.... keep posting these videos.... amazing collection you have.... greetings from Argentina, my friend!!
Most of these are in my top black metal albums!
Thank God someone knows and actually loves the Vinterland album. It's amazing. They reunited recently, so maybe we will get more?! Fingers crossed.
Mayhem1987 I heard they were supposed to record a new album a few years back but it never happened, they havent been doing any shows recently either so im not even sure if they are still together
MotleyCrueforever1 Man U say nobody talks about dawn and unanimated? Well I do just a little different: dawn-slaughtersun; unanimated-in the forest of the dreaming dead and by my honerable mentions: the abyss- the other side
Thanks for recommending unanimated, ordered it on vinyl
You have exceptionally good taste for a RUclipsr. Swedish black metal alongside with early Gothenburg death metal must be my favourite scene in all metal. Happy to see some less known records, some of them I haven't tried myself (yet)
I agree it doesn't get much better than Swedish death and Swedish black. They just really have a firm grasp on fantastic music
I've been mostly into thrash and early death metal stuff but I've been branching out into black metal and holy shit! I've been missing out. Thanks for all the recommendations!!
Thankyou for throwing dawn in there, I love the others but I did not know about Dawn. Both that album and slaughtersun are just damn good
Just listened to unanimated, morbid and sacramentum and I was quite impressed with those albums. Need to finish up that list you set up.
Awesome man!
Just ordered a Lord Belial Enter The Moonlight Gate Test Pressing, on Discogs and found them out by watching your channel. Thank you man.
Great list. I won't post a full list because most of these albums (or comparable albums from these same bands) would make my list, but Midvinter and Naglfar's debuts would definitely make my top 5. Plus Mork Gryning's debut would make it in my top 10. Like some of the bands you mentioned, neither of these three bands get the recognition they deserve. Lastly, thanks for the recommendation of The Moaning, I don't think I've ever even heard of this band, and it sounds fantastic so far.
Thanks for your insight and recommendations...I'm from Trinidad and covered Unimated Whispering Shadows back in the early 2000s...learned about Dawn and the Moaning today..will definitely checkout thanks again hails 🤘
DAWN, UNANIMATED are absolutly classic, underrated legends!!!
I can't believe it took me this long to finally listen to Vinterland... holy shit. That reminds me of the first time I heard At The Heart of Winter or The Somberlain... I was fucking blown away by the sound and intensity of that album. Even after years of loving black metal, there's always something out there you haven't heard, ready to change the way you listen to music. Brilliant recommendation, thanks!
That’s because vinterland welcome to my last chapter is the best Swedish black metal album
Duude thaks for the recomendations! I think both of dissection's albums are masterpieces. I wal already into most of them but I'm new to Dawn, Morbid, Lord Belial and The Moaning! lmL
Very great taste and list! Literally every band you've listed I'm crazy about. Dawn is very underappreciated as well. I feel like they're a more harsher in sound than Unanimated and Dissection.
Great collection!!!!
Awesome video! All classics bro, good work. Cool fun fact: Singer from Dawn was also in a great and underrated Grindcore band called Retaliation.
Joe Reed Nice I didnt know that, I knew he did the vocals on The Subterranean ep by In Flames but didnt know he was in a grindcore band lol
I'm glad I finally clicked your video. I have seen it so long but never clicked it.
I see we have the same taste.
Fun to see someone like Marduk Those of the unlight.
Never heard The moaning. So Iknow what I gonna do next.
Thank you for a nice vid with so much good music!
This might be my first comment ever on RUclips, haha. I just HAD to write and say I am listening to the Vinterland album as I write this, and... holy hell!!! Thank you!
Great list. Love Swedish bands!
I have In The Forest Of Dreaming Dead. It's pretty amazing with a very atmospheric, truly unique sound. I would classify it as Death Metal rather than Black, though.
Morbid, Dead's band. Very Cool.
I also have Slaughtersun by Dawn. It's the only album of theirs I could find. Pretty long, slightly melodic Blackened Death.
I actually prefer Sacramentums 2nd and 3rd albums to Far Away From The Sun. They're a little thrashier, I guess.
Vinterland is one of my favorite albums. I can't find it for less than $200. One day, I hope to procure it, cuz it's amazing. It would be great if some label would re-release it.
Never heard of the Moaning. I'm sold on your recommendation, since your other picks are so solid.
I also really dig Necrophobic's Blood Hymns & Hrimthursum.
Great list..All amazing albums. Vinterland's masterpiece is probably my favorite in Swedish BM too.(altough it is hard to choose)
i love all your videos!
Somberlain was one of the two albums that introduced me to black metal and it is my favorite Dissection album. The riffing blew my mind, I'd never heard anything like it. And then when the acoustics came in, I never knew heavy music could also have such beauty.
Far from Black Metal...it's Swedish Death.
Awesome video as always bro. Definitely going to check out Vinterland today.
Also all your viewer trashing was hilarious. Definitely made me chuckle. Cheers 🍺
Lol thanks man! And yeah definitely check out that Vinterland album asap!
MotleyCrueforever1 I did and I gotta say it's quite talented and enjoyable. Gonna be giving it another listen on my surround sound later too.
I feel that Vinterland continued where Dissection left after Storm and Somberlain. Great album, truly classic.
I agree!
amazing collection
Denis Močnik Thanks!
Denis Močnik Yeah his collection PWNS mine into the ground.
My own list in this genre: 10. Marduk-Heaven Shall Burn...When we are Gathered. 9. Mortum-The Druid Ceremony. 8. Dark Funeral-Secrets of the Black Arts. 7. Dawn-Slaughtersun. 6. The Moaning-Blood from Stone. 5. Noctes-Pandemonic Requiem. 4. Dissection-Storm of the Light's Bane. 3. Sacramentum-Far away from the Sun. 2. Naglfar-Vittra. 1. Vinterland-Welcome my Last Chapter.
Michael Greene Nice list! And Nice profile pic as well!
Cheers. It's my profile pic for a reason. Have to get the word out there somehow!
SETHERIAL - NORD !
how does vinterland rank so high? still trying to find the appeal of this album. it's fine. but what's so great about it? is it one of the first of this sound you heard maybe? that might be why i prefer dissection and feel like a lot of these other bands are just dissection b material.
@@tmp1k Vinterland ranks so high as I think it's the greatest melodic black metal album ever released. And I mean ever. Throughout the 1990s I had the privilege of sampling delights such as Naglfar's Vittra, Dawn's Slaughtersun and Noctes' Pandemonic Requiem. Ten to twelve years ago (when the internet was a lot easier to access) a friend recommended me Vinterland and suffice to say I haven't looked back since. I hadn't even heard of the band up to that point. It's the perfect mixture of brutality juxtapositioned with melodic interludes and the vocalist's emotion is plain for all to see. It's unlikely I'll ever hear anything quite as amazing again as it would be difficult if not impossible to capture the essence of that which flowed in Swedish waters from 1995-1998.
Perfect list I should say!
Arsis/ unwelcome Thanks!
Wolf, all fantástic albums really !!! METAL DA MORTE!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👊👊👊👊
holy shit I loved all the albums here
Respect for choosing Vinterland as number one! It's a amazing album. I'm leasing this album minimum once per week. It's a amazing masterpeace. Just like You sad. Great reefs, good production, blowing brain on every listen!.
I really dig a underground band called Murg both 2 albums Varg & Bjørn and Gudatel are among my favorites the last 3 years of BM bands coming out of Sweden.
Collection goals
Ever heard Noctes' "Pandemonic Requiem?" Well worth a listen. Huge respect for putting Vinterland top of the pile. Never tire of this masterpiece.
Haven't heard that album. Will have to give it a listen.
Noctes from the sadly defunct No Fashion Records label so that alone should be enough to recommend. Start with the rather misleadingly titled In Silence. Whole album in dire need of a reissue.
Noctes are definitely my favourite band of all time. Too bad that they are underrated. And too bad that they don't have more stuff to listen to
I had uploaded Vexilla Regis Prodeunt Inferni but it got taken down for copyright infringement, I like it more than Pandemonic Requiem but both are awesome, very underrated band...
@@obscurealbums3455 Glad I had a chance to grab both on CD when they were easily available. Have seen their debut go for crazy prices on ebay. It probably didn't help that a slew of similar sounding Swedish bands were releasing similar sounding albums around the same timeframe. The Moaning, Naglfar, Lord Belial and Vinterland to name a few. Noctes didn't reinvent the wheel for melodic black metal but they certainly contributed in no small way.
Great review, The only other release I'd add to the list is Setherial's Nord album.
Yeah if I had to redo this video I would probably end up doing a top 20 or 30 instead. 10 just wasn't enough lol.
that's a very nice list man , somberlain is fuckin epic very underrated
Arckanum - kostogher should be in a top 10 imo
Glad to see lord belial is in this list!
Ive done a lot of deep diving into various metal genres from different countries and I don't think it gets any better than swedish black metal, except maybe swedish Melodic black metal. I like a lot of the swedish melodeath too of course such as jester race and the gallery but the melodic black stuff is my favorite.
can not be agree more! Vinterland is my most favor too
Yo dude, where did you get the morbid december moon bootleg vinyl and how much did you pay for it? One of my fav albums of all time and I really want the vinyl version in my collection :D
"I'm tired so fuck off" thats why I love you dude. Lol
Dude thank you for introducing me to alot more black metal unanimated an Sacramentum kick fucking ass!!!
Vinterland is one of my all time fav albums. Ancient is great, love it. the others are okay. Ancient is the most Vinterland- like with the rifts.
No Setherial??? Damn..
Dissection 🤘Forever!!!!!The best ever!
Great video mate Check out
another 2 bands
vergelmer- light the black flame
and
abigor - nachthymnen
you might like them
That Abigor album is great! Going to have to check out that other one though.
Dissection! 🤘🤘
hell yeah!!! swedish black metal is my favorite black metal coming from that country i agree vinterland is awesome so is Sacramentum
some others that are good are naglfar- vittra.
the black-priest of satan.
nefandus- the nightwinds carried our names.
thornium-dominions of the eclipse.
NECROBLOOD666 Naglfar came close to being in here but they didnt quite make the cut.
AGAIN MAN. TOTALLL AGREE...
Thoughts on Setherial?
I’m glad I watched this since I somehow never heard of Sacramentum before. Ordered the vinyl, checked out their facebook page and it turns out they’re from the local area (30 min drive)! What are the odds...
Best of Swedish Black Metal of Death: Dissection, Marduk, Sacramentum, Setherial, Naglfar, Lord Belial, REV 16:8, Watain, Blot Mine, Ofermod, Dark Funeral, Profundi, The Black, Funeral Mist, Gates of Ishtar, The Moaning, Valkyrja, Necrophobic, Vinterland, The Legion, Unanimated, Sargoth, Dawn, Allegiance, The Abyss, Hyperion, Battlelust and Mörk Gryning!
And Bathory?
@@noamacevedo5828 Bathory is not a typical Swedish Black Metal, the bands I've listed all play the typical Swedish BM.
In addition, Bathory is from the first wave and that is basically not comparable to the 90s sound anyway.
@@jupiter9701 I agree
But, Shining?
@@noamacevedo5828 Shining does depressive BM, this is not a typical Swedish BM like Dissection or Marduk.
Somberlain is also my favourite Dissection album. Great video! Gonna check out some of the stuffs from your as always impressive collection.
Brother! Are you familiar with Katatonia's early material ? If yes, can you recommend me albums that sounds similar to their first two records - especially Brave Murder Day?
Thanks a lot!
Yeah I like pretty much all of Katatonia's material. Can't think of any other bands off the top of my head though that sound like their early stuff.
Brave Murder Day has a unique sound. They do have another release with Åkerfeldt on vocals, the EP Sounds of Decay.
I like the somberlain better than storm as well.
Brian Blaze Frozen!!!!
Nice to see somebody else agrees with me. Heaven's Damnation is fucking incredible. That's probably my favorite Dissection track.
MotleyCrueforever1 I like the incredible artwork from Storm more as it's one of my favorite album covers ever like many people. But I like the music on somberlain a bit more.
Brian Blaze this 2 album are awesome!!!!!!!The best!
I'm in the crazy minority. I love Reinkaos.
Dawn. Translates as " When the sun sets forever"
Awesome
I just started listening to Unanimated. Fucking mental. Really good. And Sinira.
Enter the Moonlight Gate is a Masterpiece!
Solid list. I would have put some sorhin on there.
I agree. Sorhin is great! Ive really been wanting to redo this video.
These Swedish Black Metal bands sure like blue in their album covers: Dark Funeral, Morbid, Lord Belial, Sacramentum, Dissection...
maybe they got the blues and should be called blues metal. lol sorry, i never comment on comments but you nailed this one haha :D
@@lll_III3 Not sure if it's true.... but I heard it's because a lot of these bands hire the same guy to do the artwork. Hence a lot of blue and purple coloring. Maybe it's bs maybe not, I really don't know.
Correction! Necrolord sure does like blue.
@@MisterTonyG the name of this notorious artist is the mighty Necrolord!.
@@spongebitchbobface Okay cool. Thanks.
Great list! We do have lots of good Black Metal bands here in Sweden. Our neighbours over there in Norway takes too much of the Black Metal credit. :) Setherial is another good swedish band formed back in 93. Many good albums, like: SETHERIAL - DEATH TRIUMPHANT. If you missed this band, its another good one: NAGLFAR - DIABOLICAL. Or if you wanna go with the more "true" sound: CRAFT - TOTAL SOUL RAPE. Heard any of these?
VERKLIGHETSCHECKEN Yes I know all of those.
Came to think about another one: Triumphator - Wings of Antichrist. The old Marduk drummer Fredrik Andersson is in that one. And now i´ll check the norwegian bands you recommend. If i might have missed something. :)
vinterland is number one to me but what about A canorous quintet (melodeath metal from Sweden also ) !
I have to check out unanimated once and for all heard way too many good things
Kevin Ortega Yeah Unanimated are a phenomenal band.
cant believe i just heard vinterland.....fuckin amazed
Hello Hello. Thankyou! A hifi? A top best black metal, hifi loudspeakers, amplifiers, cd player, turntable, phono preamplifier?
i guess Setherial - Nord, Sacramentum - Far Away From the Sun, Vinterland - Welcome my Last chapter, are top of the shelf
HELL YEAH BROTHER. DAWN.
1-Dawn Slaugther sun 2-Mork gryning return fire 3-Dissection SOTLB 4- Lord belial ETMG, 5-Marduk HSBWWAG, 6- Funeral Mist Hekatomb 7- The abyss Summon the beast 8- Odhinn The north brigade 9- Bathory Blood fire deat 10- Marduk Rom 5:12 , War total war could have been 10th...
You should do top 10 Norwegian black metal albums :D
I actually did but I deleted the video.
@@MotleyCrueforever1 Oh, how come?
Was getting too many negative comments and it was annoying as shit so I just deleted the video. I might redo it someday with maybe 20 albums instead of 10.
@@MotleyCrueforever1 Okay :D
Amazing albums all of them. I agree on Dawn also, very underrated, i remember i saw them in my youth 2 times, and they were amazing live, just before they made slaughtersun. Vinterland amazing album, the best. The only album i would have put on, which is so f*cking underrated is Setherial "nord" album. Remembering listening to Dark funeral "the secrets of the black arts" just before getting Setherial "nord", threw Dark funeral away and just listened to Setherial over and over again.
peter christensen also Hell Eternal from Setherial!
That's killer that you got to see Dawn live. I hope they put out that new album soon they were working on and do some reunion shows.
What's going on man cool stuff
Finally, someone who actually praises the somberlain.
Love your #1 choice I can't even listen to Vinterland on spotify an I hate it.
Didn´t dark funeral release an ep Before the secrets of the black arts?
Cradle of snuttefilt Yes
I really like that you include so many relatively unknown bands such as the moaning, dawn!, lord Belial and so on. Great video except the counting... and you need bigger ears
Cradle of snuttefilt Lol yeah I lost my place a couple of times
I first thought that I should recommend some unknown obscure bands but since you knew about mörk gryning and probably know more about the Swedish scene then I do it felt futile. Ever Heard of midvinter or funeral mist?
Cradle of snuttefilt They both ring a bell, can your provide links?
Swedish best band I know is Abyssos , everything is perfect in their second album ' Fhihnistanian Nightbreed '
And their debut album ' together we summon the dark '
Fuckkn killer album
love slaughtersun. got me through some life failures
Dark Funeral man!
I think u know more about album's than anybody ik..u recommend some killer fukin black metal!!
10. Dark Funeral - The secrets of the black arts
9. Vargavinter - Frostfödd
8. Dawn - Nær sólen gar niþer for evogher
7. Vinterland - Welcome my last chapter
6. Throne of Ahaz - Nifelheim
5. Skogen - Vittra
4. Dissection - Storm of the light's bane
3. Mörk Gryning - Tusen år har gått
2. Nasheim - Undergång
1. Marduk - Those of the unlight
But what should I say? "Fran Marder" by Arckanum, "Ancient god of evil" by Unanimated, "Nord" by Setherial, "Ravendusk in my heart" by Diabolical Masquerade, "Kiss the goat" by Lord Belial, "Far away from the sun" by Sacramentum, "Vittra" by Naglfar or "Travelling in ancient times" by Scheitan have to be mentioned, too!!!!! Too many great albums from Sweden 🤷🏻
When you were showing the Morbid LP i was waiting for you to mention Dead. You do know that Dead is on vocals right?
Terataxx Bröd A durrrrr!
Literally only person i know who listens to Unanimated other than myself
when will we get a finnish black metal list
charlie kelly Hopefully at some point in the near future.
DISSECTION!!!!!🤘🤘🤘
Vinterland ofc man i listen To This album soooo muchhh so fking sad they have only This album!! Dammit
I was hoping to see some Woods of Infinity but good list anyway.
Been wanting to check them out for awhile but just keep forgetting. Which album do you recommend?
@@MotleyCrueforever1 The best one to start would be 'Hamptjärn' from 2007
Why almost every band makes their second album so damn good
just came back to recommend "witchcraft obtained enslavement" ...not swedish, but close enough
Can I just set a tab (on me) for us at an irish bar so we can get piss drunk and talk about extreme metal till the bar closes?.
All these vinyls must have cost you a nut lol Where do you get your vinyls?
Online mostly, I"ve also been buying records for the better part of 8 years now.
@@MotleyCrueforever1 sweet. Theres a metal record store here in L.A. that I would go to called Dark Realm. Its owned and operated by the dudes from the band Sadistic Intent. Check that band out if you havent bro. Check out the track 'Untimely End'.. and their two EPs 'Ressurection' and 'Ancient Black Earth'. Brutal shit. It's all on RUclips. \m/
You speak about the albums like they all should be on top 1 haha (sorry if my english is bad)
SlipknotFUCKCRAIG'SGLOVES They basically are all number one to me lol
how much did you pay for morbid?
Mik Varg about 40 bucks, free shipping
MotleyCrueforever1 cool I began to collection dark tranquility Lps..
Nice!
Still thinking on spending the 3000 for Burzums debut viny. Still think its worth it.
I could never pay that much for a record.
@@MotleyCrueforever1 only because I think of it as my Holy Grail of LPs. Cheers, keep up the cool vids.
@Jeremy Stillwell not the same
@@joker71172 did you ever end up buying it?
"I was born angry"
if you were skinni you will look like axel rose
gelson cuellar Beltran Lol never heard that one before
Never thought Id hear someone say you need to be skinnier to look like Axel Rose.
