Just realising my late dad was listening to great songs of his time! I danced to black Uhuru records every weekend when my dad was home, in the early 80's. I loved the riddim
Black Uhuru back in day with Mykal Rose, Puma Jones (RIP), and Ducky Simpson produced thick as molasses, dark, and haunting reggae. Conscious music that conjures up a positive underground vibe. This was some hard core reggae that the casual listener may shy away from back in the day. Uhuru is classic reggae that will be cherished forever by true reggae fans for generations.
You may be right, If I could I would make Donald Trump listen to some heavy roots tunes/ King Tubby dubs in live sound system dance. Then make him some some good herb/ drink a lil white rum.... It might make him change his ways :)

Never tire of this vibe and music. It’s transformational. A couple of spliffs and a couple of long neck beers. Just makes it sound so sweet and mellow.
One of the more impactful concerts I went to was Black Uhuru 1990. It was a small theater and it was so THICK. The smoke, the music, completely unforgettable.
I have been looking for a song.. well a lot of songs, my dad had this one cassette tape in the 90s played it all the time.. one song I remember just a small part.. "I'm sending an SOS.. SOS to Jah Jah" I have been searching for Years and Years..😢
I absolutely love this record, all those great memories, of all those shebeens, blues, loud sound systems, on many a place, great band, just fill my eyes up with tears, just looking back
I can relate, love the songs but they tear my heart up with nostalgia thats painful yet joyful at the same time. The undiluted sweetness of the memories of yester year make me happy while they leave my heart aching and longing for the days when bass used to try to displace your heart while u rub-a dub
cheers rantoo, I actually went to a street sound system in Brixton last week, and they were playing old school reggae, black uhuru, johhny Osborne, dennis brown, it was so visceral, and tangible, it was great
I saw Black Uhuru either 81 or 82 NYC. Life altering
SLY DUNBAR and ROBBIE SHAKESPEARE on the drum and bass, wicked man.

Exactly. Bob Marley may have been the face of reggae but Black Uhuru & Burning Spear was the soul of reggae. 👊🏾
