One of my favorite artists from the '70s. Beautiful tunes, great guitar, and Henry's amazing voice. You should have had more airplay. Thank you for your music, Henry! I have listened to your music for over 45 years and love it still today.
June 2024...This song is still such a great motivation! Good driving song, happy rhythm. What a joy, a gem! Yes indeed, so excellent for all these years!
Unrecognized by many....but not by this old dog. I bought this and a a few other of his LP’s when I wore a younger man’s clothes...... HENRY GROSS, PLUG ME INTO SOMETHING, RELEASE, SHOW ME TO THE STAGE, LOVE IS THE STUFF......My daughter now owns my vinyl collection.
This is a great album. To anyone reading this it would be really wonderful if someone could post a video of the whole album. I for one would really appreciate it. This album deserves to be heard!
Saw him open for the Doobie Brothers. How did they compare? I have yet to buy a DB album. Henry's was playing on my turntable within 24 hours of the show.
🤔 awesome. i remember when i was a kid and this (plug me into something) was released and i heard henrys voice and his stunning guitar sound and the beautiful songs one after another and it was like a dream come true. thank you for this. kudos.🌪👻
I had a rather battered and scratched copy of plug me into something way back in 1977 LP given to me by a pal it had done t rounds judging by its condition but playable tho into black sab etc i loved it southern band drivers eng stood out .I think my bro gave it to a pal never saw it again .thx v much grafeful scotland.o
Henry Gross touched millions of people with Shannon still to this day...It makes me mad at how many talented singer/songwriters were taken advantage of... This song was awesome...theres many of his songs that I listened to and cant believe they arent on the radio...
Whoa! That's not the kind of song I'd expect Henry Gross to do. Y'know I always think of "Shannon". This song rocks! I like it a lot. I'm gonna have to check out some of his albums on my next trip to a music store.
Got all of those cuts and albums but I have to be wary of the label that owns the songs. I wish I could make more but his label scares me a bit. They have made life tough for other tubers.
Keep in mind these are used records at an exchange store. I do not think it is a slight on Henry, it's just an avenue for people to replace classic vinyl with trade-ins.
Henry is the original and KING of southern rock bands, saw him many times at the old Agora Ballroom in Atlanta. Great thing is, his shows are still awesome.
No, Henry's former label is making life hard for guys like me that just want to let people hear what does not get played on commercial radio, the label however wants to make money.
I have been looking for "Plug Me Into Something" for frakin' YEARS!!!! Fantastic album and one of my all-time favorites. Thanks very much--it's on the way to me now!
henry rocked b4 shanon she was anice irish setter she even got acredit on the plug me in to something lp on evergreen ithink. Bect lp travelin time one more tomorow dixie spiderman and ill love her memory lane SOUTHERN BAND etc. etc. on the yellow lp were some good songs like sweet sasafras. Good stuff.
Backing vocals by the legendary Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys, where incidentally Henry got the idea for his smash hit "Shannon". Carl Wilson had an Irish setter named Shannon who had recently been hit by a car and killed. There is so much confusion out there about the whole "Shannon" story but you can Google it and look for the Henry Gross interview with the retro website "Forgotten Hits" to get the truth.
I loved the album Release and the songs "Shannon" and "Springtime Mama". Actually not really a bad song on that whole album (I have it on vinyl). This is the first time I am hearing some of his other stuff.
i cant find dixie spiderman from the same album. I remember the day I heard this album. I still love this stuff today. thanks in advance ... if you have it, please post it
Got the album as soon as it came out. I still give it a spin every once in a while. Another highly under rated musician was JJ Cale. Worthy of a good listen as a band and live performances where Eric Clapton plays as well.
He was supposed to open the very first Super Jam in Busch Stadium, St. Louis MO, in 1976 but had to cancel. I was so disappointed, but as the night drew on I kinda got over it if you know what I mean.
I loved Henry until I learned the fate of his dog, Shannon - how totally irresponsible to allow a family pet to jump into the ocean and drown. Shame on you Henry - and may you rot in hell.
One of my favorite artists from the '70s. Beautiful tunes, great guitar, and Henry's amazing voice. You should have had more airplay. Thank you for your music, Henry! I have listened to your music for over 45 years and love it still today.
Oneofmyfavorite song from the 70s It always ended up on all of my playlists
Hennry Gross simply kicks ass on this song, just as he has on most of his other work. Henry Gross is a terribly-unappreciated artist in America.
+tom wray you are so right about that! Most people have never heard of him however; I try to push his Lp's on my friends.
Amen!!
Amen!!
tom wray I TOTALLY agree.
You said it! We LOVED him when I was in the Army, --we'd puff a few, down a few dozen, and CRANK his album! Kept us sane during the down times.
June 2024...This song is still such a great motivation! Good driving song, happy rhythm.
What a joy, a gem! Yes indeed, so excellent for all these years!
Best unrecognized rock album of the 70's ! For Damn Sure !!!!

Must be out of print, can only find it in vinyl on ebay. weird
Saw him in Houston, TX, as lead band to the Doobie Brothers. Went and bought the album the next day.
My older sister had this album, I used to listen to it on repeat, now I cannot find this song or the album anywhere, argh!
Still got the album! 2020
Loved this guy's work since I was a kid; love his guitar work and his distinctive vocals...
Awesome Guitarist! Great Voice! Classic Southern Rock!
Saw Henry in the wayback on the Plug Me Into Something tour. he kicked so much ass. A great album!!
Saw him open for the Doobie Brothers. How did they compare? I have yet to buy a DB album. Henry's was playing on my turntable within 24 hours of the show.

Henry Gross always made great album rock. I feel Shannon really posioned radio against him as a singles artist.

I'm a 63 straight dude. That song makes me cry. I can't even listen to it.
Plug this into something
Whoa! That's not the kind of song I'd expect Henry Gross to do. Y'know I always think of "Shannon". This song rocks! I like it a lot. I'm gonna have to check out some of his albums on my next trip to a music store.

I was in Papa Jazz in Columbia, SC over the weekend and they had EVERY Henry Gross album (used) for a dollar.
I'm not quite sure what you were doing just now but.....you're welcome.
No, Henry's former label is making life hard for guys like me that just want to let people hear what does not get played on commercial radio, the label however wants to make money.
He was a member of Sha-Na-Na.
I have been looking for "Plug Me Into Something" for frakin' YEARS!!!! Fantastic album and one of my all-time favorites. Thanks very much--it's on the way to me now!

Very underrated performer, kind of got lost in the "looking for a hit" crowd. Really got folks into him in the 70s/
I loved the album Release and the songs "Shannon" and "Springtime Mama". Actually not really a bad song on that whole album (I have it on vinyl). This is the first time I am hearing some of his other stuff.
Henry Gross never got the recognition he deserved! A fabulous guitar player and a great singer! I still listen to his music 😊
i cant find dixie spiderman from the same album. I remember the day I heard this album. I still love this stuff today. thanks in advance ... if you have it, please post it
Yes, he has a new album out (do people still say those things?) on his and other websites like Amazon.
Note to self. Get new speakers. Has to be louder. I'll listen to this stuff till I'm 100.
I just saw Henry last Saturday night doing his one man show "One Hit Wanderer". It was awesome! Henry is still writing and making great music.
loved this in the 70's
I love it! It's just straight-forward rock-n-roll music! I also feel a "Beach Boy" quality in this song!
if you were high, you had fun and isn't that what really matters?
cool video good sound. Got any thing else from plug me into something?
Got the album as soon as it came out. I still give it a spin every once in a while. Another highly under rated musician was JJ Cale. Worthy of a good listen as a band and live performances where Eric Clapton plays as well.

Great song! Do you have Southern Band from Plug Me Into Something?
He was supposed to open the very first Super Jam in Busch Stadium, St. Louis MO, in 1976 but had to cancel. I was so disappointed, but as the night drew on I kinda got over it if you know what I mean.
