I was once told that you can’t eat an elephant all at once. (Just a saying, I love elephants). He told me I could eat an elephant a bit at a time. I really needed to hear that when I was overwhelmed with grief from a dying parent and overloaded with the responsibility’s of preparing the estate. It really stuck with me and I DID get through it. Just takes time and diligence
'Okay, i'm going to eat pastries now' - the correct solution to everything! Great video, thanks Rosie! Edit: Love that old putty-white colour for the windows/door.
Spot on. As the old proverb says, the journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step. Patience is a virtue. Getting stressed means you need a break, from work and maybe RUclips. It will enable Rosie to look back at what she has achieved and count her blessings. Peace.
Rosie, don't be overwhelmed by everything that needs doing. With so many projects, you can pick and choose which ones to do and in which order, such as that annoying door! Taking time to sew is so enjoyable, almost a reprieve from carpentry work and something you do just for yourself, and you so deserve to spoil yourself, a nice balance of time. Life can be so disappointing, such as the bike incident, however, walks in the woods and lunch on a blanket surrounded by nature is a wonderful way to compensate. Thanks again for sharing your life with us! So many of us wish we had taken the road less traveled as you have. You are beautiful inside and out, here's a warm hug of encouragement! Please post again soon!
Rosie once you have finished this room organise the garden because this will be your relaxing area, a bit of organic vegetables and you’ll be able to enjoy the summer which is short - then organise the rest in order of priority. Don’t rush because you will get frustrated. Really enjoying your journey ❤
So pleased I'm not the only one feeling overwhelmed with renovation and maintenance. It's hard work and time consuming. your doing a wonderful job. Don't loose the sparkle for your dream 🥰
The filmmaking is reaching new heights now. The camera work on close and medium shots is slicker, the end was especially strong, pulling the emotion together. Love the enriching tone of how bringing simplicity and beauty together strikes such a plaintiff chord, and because its so personal, it has much more of an impact, telling its oddly detailed story. You leave out so much, to really good effect.
Do you know how incredible you are? Thank you for sharing your struggles and achievements in such an honest and open way. It's good to know there are people like you in the world, you help to make it a better place X
She paints, she builds, she sews, she plants, she cooks. You Rosie amaze me with your mad skills. Always believe you can do it, because every week you show us you can.
Love the wardrobe door. From the cuts in the wood (never thought of using a drill to get that middle bit out) the use of the fabric in the middle. Exceptional Rosie. Love your visions becoming realities
So I sit down with a cup of tea, looking forward to a relaxing video of Rosie renovating her front room... Congratulations Rosie, not even 45 seconds in and you managed to get my anxiety sky high. My to do list isn't even half as long and now I feel like I'm wasting my time...
Rosie you are a woman with many talents. Thank you for allowing us to see your beautiful builds, your cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and painting. I so enjoy watching your creative endeavors.
Nothing gives me more joy then seeing women take on building projects with amazing skill like you. You are learning as you go. Even if it’s scary at first you get better w the more you do. I’m just always impressed and proud of you.
You’re hilarious in a very subtle way, the way you look at us through the camera draws us in totally I don’t know what your window of good weather is but you certainly have enough outdoor projects to fill it, maybe your parents will come visit and help again? Rosie to say that you are one in a million would really be an understatement and I’m thrilled I came upon your channel. I’m always sad when your videos end because they fill me with awe and hope. Thank you for letting us in. 🥰🙏🏻
Don’t be so hard on yourself! You are doing an amazing job! I think many of us feel overwhelmed at this time of year because we have spent the winter thinking about projects we want to do. I know I sure do! Just take things one step at a time.
Rosie, your door hardware/hinges ... they are adjustable on three planes (x, y, z).... so you can get closer to your filler board, you can raise them, lower them, and get them further/closer away from the frame just by adjusting the corresponding screws without having to "redo" everything. Hope the helps.
What a video, everything is there; shopping for wood, carpentry, cooking, sewing, painting, sowing seeds, modelling, nature with relaxing music; and so well edited!!
Quite understand how you feel. At 65, a single woman, for many, many years, I am always overwhelmed in Spring, the weeks of new beginnings. With new determination we start out with lots of projects to do, ones that were left from last year and the new ideas we have for this year. Don't stress, you cannot do the work of of two and taking on something new is always an experiment - growing vegetables included.
Your videos are so refreshing. I was looking forward to seeing a new one today and there it was! Perhaps you could make a cart that would accommodate your wood haul. That might work for you. It is so much fun to watch your work completing your home. One day at a time. One project at a time. Take care.
Ask anyone who has had a house professionally built. Some things turn out less than perfect. And that's okay. When you painted the front door from blue to white, wow, it made the entrance look twice as spacious! That space can turn out quite lovely with a little love. To end, your skirt and top are just precious! They look quite at home in your magical forest. Again, how blessed you are. And we are blessed that you share it all with us!💓
Someone probably has already mentioned coffee grounds and cinnamon as good natural repellents for the ants. To ensure that they don't come back to your doorsteps you could plant lavender beside the steps, it helps to keep the ants away in the future too (and it smells so nice! you could dry the flowers after summer and put them in your new wardrobe to keep it bug free and fresh too)😊 This whole video was so beautiful, the editing, the music, just everything. Thank you for the small movie to enjoy while slurping my sunday afternoon coffee 🥰

Chip...Chip...Chip away at the stone, Rosie. Don't overburden your mind, dear. Every project is an opportunity to keep the mind occupied. What is life without labor but a sedentary stalemate between the world and our function within it; keeping in mind that failure is a lack of functionality. The mountain isn't the goal, but rather the ascension is what keeps the mind, body and heart focused on purpose. You're a rockstar. Hej hej Rosie, we feel you - it is also overwhelming to renovate our tiny 200-year-old homestead in central Sweden. In addition, it’s not possible to always be there (Germany/Switzerland) and we also shoot short films parallel to the carpenters work and gardening. Compliments on the discipline how you stick to your work in order to make progress little by little. Being totally off-grid we only use battery-powered tools with a minimal solar system. Only necessary renovations like windows can be done otherwise we try to leave the house as it is. You're also much more skilled at craftsmanship and design. There’s still a lot to learn, so watching RUclips vids is a must. Your sewing projects are a reminder that I want to make clothes with the little Bernina for a long time. So far it’s only curtains for the house. Carry on, girl! Ulla
Cute dress Rosie❤️…. sox and sandals warmer feet!.. You seem so happy, so content. The Artist, constantly at work. You’re amazing! Thank you for being awake at 4a.m. so special. Careful with those hands🙏🏾
I am a little late at saying this but, I don't care what google says, you are still a young lady. I'm 71. You continue to amaze me with your determination. God bless.
Hi Rosie, great to see you never run out of DIY Projects. Every time I watch an update from you, I keep seeing a cat roaming with you, hmm...... They are amazing companions and teachable. Our kittens grew and responded to the same commands as our dog, loved long strolls through the forest, brought the odd mouse to the back door with great pride.
@@wildrosiea fox! Ha! But really cats are pretty independent. I can leave mine w food and water for up to 3 days. Prolly more if we absolutely had to. My dog?no way. Not even 1 day. But cats, yes. You think oh, they’ll run off thinking they’ve been left behind!! But no. They are fine.
Hi Rosie! You inspired many people. Such a fragile, tenacious, determinates girl and how far she got eith on own streng! understandable That you are tired. Up and down is a cirvle. Maybe it is time to fill you up before you start climb an another hill… We are with you. We’ll send the energy to You that you can reach your goals! Hugs frim Hungary! Annamaria
Your videos are so peaceful. It really imparts a small sense of what it must be like living in such a wonderful place. Take care and can't wait to see all the beautiful things that will be.
Dear Rosie I again tell you that I admire your guts & abiliy to do difficult designs and how you use that Japanese saw and with limited tools achieve master pieces. I send you endurance and power to overcome the unnessasary things happening like that bl...dy lorrie driver. Living on my own and being full time in a wheelchair make me appreciate the mental stength you have. GOOD ON YOU and I enjoy watching your video's. 👍
I was telling my husband how much I look forward to your videos. Your plans are well thought out, the texture of your fabric on the doors elevate all your wood work. The corner clamps are on my tool list now, I hope they sponsor future videos as their sales go up. You’re one of my favorites! Well done!
You will figure away. I think the sewing can be your escape. One thing at a time. You will get there and we will be watching amazed at your talents. Today it’s Mother’s Day and I said to my family. Make me a bit of breakfast so I can watch Rosie and then you can decide how to spoil me.
Hi Rosie, I know exactly what you mean by being overwhelmed. The to-do list is Neverending. However, first things first. When the weather is nice, tackle the little things outside first. That way, you get them all out of the way asap. Then you can tackle the next little things and so on for as long as the weather is nice. The inside projects leave them for when the weather is not good so you can work inside. For the inside projects, they have to deal with wood. On a good beautiful day, cut all the wood with the measurements you need and put them inside the house where you will be working later on. It will help you greatly if you number them, put a painters tape and write over it what it's for. The way when the weather is cold, it rains you to have everything cut ready to assemble. Hope it helps.
Loved the intro, Rosie, and your humor! Such precision on both the wardrobe door and the skirt and top, it all turned out so well. The fabric in the door is beautiful and will add a nice softness to all the wood. It's all coming along and you will get it all done.... in time.
I love your videos, they show how much power a person has within themselves, even living alone, even without many comforts - you can be thriving, accomplished and happy
I really look forward to your videos & realize what special talents & drive you have! When I get too rushed with things I remember my grandmother saying " the hurrier you go..the behinder you get!" So true! The results with your work & style are really welcome & cute (of course)! Love your natural look, skill & can do personality!
Every moment is precious and unique. No rush to do everything all at once. Just enjoy the rhythm of time and follow its flow. Good luck and God bless.❤
I'm liking the evolution of the wardrobe. If you are not happy with the look of the staples and raw edges on the inside, you could run grosgrain ribbon around on that edge, like fancy upholsterers do, glued in place.
I watched Anna Lindgren's last video the other day. She's using Ottossons Färgmakeri linseed oil paint on the exterior of her house. The paint company recommended not to sand the existing paint (which I thought was crazy/interesting). Might be worth checking out.
I saw that too! I'm also looking at using linseed oil paint for the trims, although I'd keep the facade in the traditional red, which is a different kind of paint... would be great if i didn't have to sand it though. Sanding a house would be awful!
@@wildrosie The traditional paint is fascinating to me, too. The copper by product mixed with flour.....It would be interesting to see which paint held up better.
Your patience and attention to detail is extremely admirable! I love watching you create this lovely little cabin. Thank you for sharing this with us! 💖
Those wardrobe doors are beautiful, your work is so intricate 🙌 you got a lot done and it’s good to change things up a bit, different projects for the day ❤
To tension the fabric on the frame, start at the centre of one side, then the opposite centre, the the other pair of sides and work out from there … always tensioning opposite sides as you go if that makes sense. When prioritising, mostly the construction projects can be done any weather but the gardening, where you have such a short season, needs to be sorted early. Ideally beds should be prepared 6-8 weeks in advance which is difficult when just yourself. Perhaps next fall when you harvest last crops build up mulch on the beds then so as soon as it warms up it will break down improving the soil. Dark mulches capture more heat warming the soil enabling crops to get going sooner in the spring. Also, you might be safer lining up your loads in line with the trailer and bike. Loading asymmetrically you’re more likely to come a cropper with passing trucks
I honestly think you're amazing AND inspirational. Anytime my ADHD takes over and makes me freeze up and feel like I can't do my art, I watch your videos and see you building your own dang house, your way, and I'm inspired again. So thank you, you awesome unicorn of a human being.
You constant attention to detail is something to be admired. I never doubt that what you make, whether it be with wood or fabric will be perfect. I see you have a friendly deer, he’s probably wondering when your garden is being planted.
Dag vanuit Menorca!
A lovely morning with Rosie. Measure the diagonals of the doors. If the measurement is the same, the door is completely square. I suspect you already know that, but I'm writing anyway
Rosie I love watching your videos since they often help me feel calmer. Watching you build your house (literally)piece by piece feels so refreshing and I love the aesthetics😊
These videos are so wonderful in all ways. They calm me, they inspire me, sometimes they awe me with the beautiful drone footage. I really love them. Thanks for making them!
I am in a similar situation. With numerous projects that need doing. Try to think of them as 'options’. Each day you get to choose which project you feel like working on. Obviously on nice days you choose an outdoor project. When you abandon a project and come back to it later you kind of have renewed eyes and energy.
Hello 👋 Rosie I'm from Mexico 🇲🇽😊. I have been watching your videos. Love them and I think you're amazing. You we're saying about the problems with your plants . First of all, you are amazing. You mentioned that you thought the fabric on the cabinet door looks messy. How about if you covered the stapled edge with a thin ribbon. Just use a touch of fabric glue? Just a thought. Otherwise, keep going, you’re doing well.
sometimes it don't need to be perfect. I have been homesteading, building our house, growing a garden and planting Forrest for close to 15 years. Just prioritize and deep breaths.
You did a marvelous job with your skirt and blouse. I think the cabinet will come out just fine. It looks kinda bland though. Hope some colorful items will brighten it up

I love your creativity, especially with designing and sewing clothes. I enjoy watching you glide through the forest in your pretty outfits.🌲
Wardrobe doors are going to look fabulous. Looking great so far.
Everything will come together in the end. Give yourself a break 😊.
Thanks for your videos. You make some very inspiring films ☺️👍
"Yard by yard life is hard. Inch by inch it's a cinch." I am always overwhelmed in the spring but I just start knocking off small tasks.
It's all coming along and you will get it all done.... in time.
the top and skirt is lovely. sand the door primer lightly and put a 2nd coat of primer on the door will look much nicer
Oh Cinderellllaaaa, built the deck, fix the door, paint the windows!! (the dreams that you wish will come true) :)🎶
The combination of wood and fabric is genius!
I'm liking the evolution of the wardrobe. If you are not happy with the look of the staples and raw edges on the inside, you could run grosgrain ribbon around on that edge, like fancy upholsterers do, glued in place.
Ah that’s a good idea!
It will last at least for 20 years if you do the repainting right. @Rosie I posted a tip for you about this in the previous video. (In dutch)
I love your content and thank you for introducing me to the Japanese saw!
Your patience and attention to detail is extremely admirable! I love watching you create this lovely little cabin. Thank you for sharing this with us! 💖
Those wardrobe doors are beautiful, your work is so intricate 🙌 you got a lot done and it’s good to change things up a bit, different projects for the day ❤
Everything you do looks pretty perfect to me, Rosie.
Excellent Rosie! Glad to see the clamps holding down the wood and the hand protection! Lovely Idea for the design of the closet doors! 😊
Scary. Glad you’re ok. The busy roads can be nerve racking on a bike.
My Good Morning to you, Rosie. From the State of Ohio, in the U.S.A. I envy your tranquil surroundings.
you are a fabulous film maker, carpenter, sewer, cooking, planter. keep going Happily
dammn I'm so excieted for this video! (very funny way to start a video btw, loved it!)
haha thanks!!
Jun 2024 USA Just saw you have over 100,000 viewers. Congratulations!😊 Well deserved 👍 Always interesting! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You constant attention to detail is something to be admired. I never doubt that what you make, whether it be with wood or fabric will be perfect. I see you have a friendly deer, he’s probably wondering when your garden is being planted.
Dag vanuit Menorca!
You’ve created a fairy tale, a mythological, enigmatic series here, all the better because you are really making it all happen.
A lovely morning with Rosie. Measure the diagonals of the doors. If the measurement is the same, the door is completely square. I suspect you already know that, but I'm writing anyway
That's a really good reminder actually, thanks!
you are soo good in flim making
I'm trying to get better so thank you!! :)
@@wildrosiewe are all noticing!
It’s amazing how your carpentry skills are getting better and better! Amazing! You should be so proud of yourself!
I'm using a natural pesticide.. check it in internet. Using cinnamon of course in water spraying it woul help a lot. Also I think your apple tree has fongu.. that white stuff in the branches. Maybe some natural stuff can help. See you next video...😊. You are a very strong woman. Congratulations your house it's coming along beautifully. Bye. ❤
The fabric door is very effective and quite stunning. It’s a great idea and it will look beautiful. Great work (and taste)…

as for the gap - try regulating hinges, they can move the door on the axis :)
Hi Rosie, amazing determination...keep going.... a good tip for ant problem indoors ? They don't like powder barriers..try talcum powder (if you can get it ?) Or powdered chalk. A good insecticide free alternative. Outside boiling water works. Hope that helps !👍
I so enjoy your music selections.
" Prioritize and life will be easier ! " they said.
And i agree ! but it is not simple at all to know what is the most important.
I guess at the end of the day, we just do our best and don't forget to add a pinch or two of fun !
Anyway, enjoy your projects ! And thanks for sharing. 🌻
I’ve just taken on a large area of land and my list of tasks is as long as the land itself. But like you, slow and steady and we will win. Love everything about your channel and have watched every episode since discovering you last month. All the best from sunny Wales.

Just glad you are ok.
First of all, you are amazing. You mentioned that you thought the fabric on the cabinet door looks messy. How about if you covered the stapled edge with a thin ribbon. Just use a touch of fabric glue? Just a thought. Otherwise, keep going, you’re doing well.
I love your dress, well done, don’t worry, you will get things done, one at a time and relax 🇬🇧🥰
sometimes it don't need to be perfect. I have been homesteading, building our house, growing a garden and planting Forrest for close to 15 years. Just prioritize and deep breaths.
Also, its an ANTRANCE 😂 sorry 😅
lolllllllllll
You did a marvelous job with your skirt and blouse. I think the cabinet will come out just fine. It looks kinda bland though. Hope some colorful items will brighten it up
Amazing the difference one can make with a little hard work and a can of paint. Your outfit turned out sweet and your wardrobe door too! ❤
