Important note: I know I missed a ton of maps, I wish I had the time to look into and cover them all. If you've got any I missed that you feel others should check out, feel free to plug them in the comments here!
I've only got so much time in the world to play, research, and do these videos, do you know how much that expands the pool? I don't see you suggesting any old ones like I asked. I wanted to show off how crazy good the current workshop is, especially with new vscripting capabilities.
I want literally every map you showcased to be added; Slime, Sandcastle, and Circus especially. That zombie infection gamemode also sounds really fun, I hope the success of VSH encourages Valve to look at more community gamemodes. Great video, I really enjoy your map highlights
Was vsh successful? At least in the eyes of the tf team? I loved it but going by the little bars that show how many people play at a current time it didn't seem to be very popular
@AyeAyeKane I'd still say it was successful. Despite some hiccups at the beginning, a completely vscript-based gamemode was added to Valve's casual servers. While VSH is seeing low player numbers, it's still just an alternative gamemode. I wouldn't call payload race or medieval mode failures just for their low player counts, either. I think Valve would also see VSH as a success, since its inclusion drummed up hype for the summer update- and considering that's when tf2 hit its all-time peak- Valve would at least consider its implementation as being a reason for that.
Another map that I believe is of note is Crypt, which is an honest-to-gourd ROBOT DESTRUCTION MAP in modern TF2. Featuring unique custom cultist models, pickups, and ammo books as replacers for the robots, the map has a beautiful underground aesthetic with a unique fully interior Cave skybox. Above all else, it’s a fully finished map (which is what Asteroid never got to be), and could technically be the map that brings the mode out of the Beta Limbo it’s been in for years (but only on a technical basis, since most ‘out of beta’ states come with updates to the mode) It also changes the robot-now-cultist NPCs to have higher level ones that actually defend themselves by casting spells, and makes use of no other Halloween gimmicks, making it a very oddly vanilla Halloween map for something as unique as Robot Destruction. It’s a great map for sure, and it would literally make history if it got added… though I think RD only really works for Halloween with it’s gimmick, since it’s still RD.
I'm honestly so jealous of Holy Hell, I've been wanting to make a map like that for a while and they beat me to the punch with a map that's a hundred times better than anything I could've managed. It looks AMAZING!!! This year's Halloween update has the potential to be an all-timer.
you helped me get into tf2 mapping with your old tutorials and id like to say thank you for the help to understand how to use hammer. and thats about it.
Man, I revisited your channel to get back into learning hammer and I think it’s super cool you’re still going strong making sick maps. All of the maps you covered here look amazing.
We use that in the US as well, and there have definitely been moments where I've done some sloppy mapping work with some drinks in me. Like, most of the development of Trainsawlaser 😅
Suggest adding a "demonic invasion" light or similar to the status boards on ctf_devilcross if you haven't already, that gag in doom 4 was a great chuckle
Changing up the signs sounds like a lot of fun, I've recently learned how to reskin and recompile props myself for a simple edit, I might have to try to tackle something like that soon
These maps look absolutely amazing, I can't thank all of you mappers, artists and programmers out there enough for keeping tf2 alive through all these years!
I love Slime, such a neat mechanic having npc's that apply a debuff on players. You probably already know if its in or not but I do hope that it gets added this year!
Jesus, Devilcross looks sick. Very, idk what to call it, classy and well done, not too over the top but with wicked aesthetics. Need to go and try it. I guess while I'm here I might as well say thanks for that mapping series. I tried getting into it years ago and even watched all of your series but just had an incredibly hard time with it. I don't know if I was an idiot back then or what cause I finally started putting a greater effort into practicing rocket jumping and decided to give making jump maps a shot. Way easier than I remember. I'm using Hammer++ so I don't know if that's the difference? Fun though.
Thank you! Glad I was able to help. I sort of did the same thing, back in the CS 1.6 days I tried to get into Hammer but just couldn't wrap my head around it. Many years later I picked it back up for TF2 and here I am, now! Imagine if I kept going back then though, haha H++ has a lot of nice quality of life features, but it's not too dramatically different. You might just be in the right headspace to grasp it, now!
These maps are fucking insane. Tf2’s community warms my soul when I see this shit. Each scream fortress has been getting better and better maps somehow and I am constantly surprised by it. I hope these mappers are living their best lives cause they are genuinely doing some amazing work
I wish they hadn't fixed the animation speed of the skeletons The stuttering movement made them look like stop motion like that really old movie with stop motion skeletons
It seems strange to me that in Zombie Infection, Scout does not have the Pounce ability but the Soldier does, knowing that Scout is always joked that he looks like the Hunter from L4D... but it doesn't matter. The game is just as good!
Absolutely love seeing your mapping videos and these workshop highlights are no exception! The sandcastle one is super cool and a great idea for a retexture/remix/???. It has me wondering if there’s any other medieval maps you think should be added to the map pool?
Happy to hear that there's finally a zombie vscript mode... though is this not just Super Zombie Fortress for the most part? Not a complaint, I love zombie fortress and an official implementation would be goated as all hell. Anyway, VSH with horsemann when?
The slime pop thingies I think is absolutely fantastic compared to the traditional explosive damage pumpkins. Will help it feel a bit more strategic and less punishing for just being near a prop. As I personally always shoot those explosive pumpkins on sight in order to take that advantage away from enemies. Cracker job lads!
Oasis Event looks utterly amazing. Actually all of them do, but I worry that Slime won't be fun to play because skeletons are not fun in all the other Halloween maps. And Devilcross looks great but it looks like it will play worse with the deathpit changes. That said, my love for Oasis and Oasis Event easily outsrips my hesitancy about Devilcross and Slime.
i completely avoid vscript for my maps. i dont even tamper with soundscapes. i just rely mostly on ambient_generic and func_tracktrain for sounds. and as for enemy ai i just use base_boss and a ton of brushes although with my map pl_death_factory i hit the edict limit with my conga line of skeletons and had to move the skeletons to another version of the map.
Can someone tell me please how to play zombie infection because I'm pretty new to tf2 Here's the thing I did someone pls tell me what to do to fix them: I subscribed to the mod, went to community servers and typed zombie infection and nothing pops up. Please if this is deleted to me being a f2p then oof
You'll have to find a server running it, if you ask on the submission for the map, one of the creators might be nice enough to tell you where/ how to get to one. Or there might be an IP address posted on the workshop page directly
Important note: I know I missed a ton of maps, I wish I had the time to look into and cover them all. If you've got any I missed that you feel others should check out, feel free to plug them in the comments here!

I'd personally like to mention MilkMaster's "Infestation", a PD map full of vscript rats and cheese.
Cowerhouse was #2 behind Slime but not mentioned
I feel 'Hades' by Yrrzy should've been mentioned. It fits tf2 and is a original map.
I want literally every map you showcased to be added; Slime, Sandcastle, and Circus especially. That zombie infection gamemode also sounds really fun, I hope the success of VSH encourages Valve to look at more community gamemodes. Great video, I really enjoy your map highlights

That one definitely on my short list of maps to check out next, looks cool
Halloween is gonna be so interesting this year
*Really? Always People Showing new things. What About Forgotten Old Things?*
And it was!

Makes me want to combine Devilcross and Doublefrost just for the hell of it
@@UEAKCrash You could call it... Doublecross!
Whoa
you helped me get into tf2 mapping with your old tutorials and id like to say thank you for the help to understand how to use hammer. and thats about it.
Super excited for this Halloween, its insane how many good maps we are getting already so far, vscript really breathed a lot of life into TF2!
Infestation, Crypt, and Terminus are some of my personal favorites along side Devilcross, Holy Hell, Kodama, and Brew Blast.
Man, I revisited your channel to get back into learning hammer and I think it’s super cool you’re still going strong making sick maps. All of the maps you covered here look amazing.
“after all these years.”
doublecross, doublefrost, devilcross
“Finally I have them all.”
hammered is sometimes used as british slang for drunk, so if you are using the hammer editor you could be drunk
We use that in the US as well, and there have definitely been moments where I've done some sloppy mapping work with some drinks in me. Like, most of the development of Trainsawlaser 😅
if they don't add Slime they are crazy
👀

i love arena maps getting added back again. it's a really underrated gamemode
I love Slime, such a neat mechanic having npc's that apply a debuff on players. You probably already know if its in or not but I do hope that it gets added this year!
Since VScript is now a thing, it would be cool to have a zombies game mode like the ones on call of duty.
Jesus, Devilcross looks sick. Very, idk what to call it, classy and well done, not too over the top but with wicked aesthetics. Need to go and try it. this halloween is going to be something else
Devilcross looks SICK
that hammer joke made me laugh so fucking hard like a goofy ass bitch and it was so simple yet so effective. dad jokes are my weakness 😭
devilcross might be my new top ctf map if it gets added, I want to try it out
got right spooked
Zombie mode looks really interesting
Bro turned Doublecross into Lahaina
Very good maps this year
Lotta good projects.
We keep getting versions of nucleus, and I’m here for it!
MORE SPOOKAWEEN MAPS LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I wish they hadn't fixed the animation speed of the skeletons
The stuttering movement made them look like stop motion like that really old movie with stop motion skeletons
Freyja is the GOAATT
It seems strange to me that in Zombie Infection, Scout does not have the Pounce ability but the Soldier does, knowing that Scout is always joked that he looks like the Hunter from L4D... but it doesn't matter. The game is just as good!
Zombie Infection sounds like the old intox. zombie mod but with much better zombies.
your freakishly talented man. you're carrying the tf2 community on your back
I think this is shaping up to be an awesome scream fortress
Absolutely love seeing your mapping videos and these workshop highlights are no exception!
The sandcastle one is super cool and a great idea for a retexture/remix/???. It has me wondering if there’s any other medieval maps you think should be added to the map pool?
0:37 Великие русы, собирайтесь вместе, чтобы одолеть проклятых ящеров! Оттачивайте свои великолепные приёмы и доминируйте над гадкими тварями!
Não vejo a hora de jogar esse mapa! :)
Happy to hear that there's finally a zombie vscript mode... though is this not just Super Zombie Fortress for the most part? Not a complaint, I love zombie fortress and an official implementation would be goated as all hell. Anyway, VSH with horsemann when?
It sucks that all of these amazing maps would only be playable in October if they get added
awesome!
Skipped over Cowerhouse which was #2 behind Slime :(
Sorry! It's on my list to check out, I just haven't had the time recently to do as much as I've wanted with the current map pool, there's been so much
The slime pop thingies I think is absolutely fantastic compared to the traditional explosive damage pumpkins. Will help it feel a bit more strategic and less punishing for just being near a prop. Woah. I hope Valve doesn't drop the ball with the map additions this year.
Sandcastle has that Pikmin feel to it. Figures, what with Pikmin 4 and all.
All of the maps look too good to pass up
It's a shame you didn't cover Cowerhouse.
i completely avoid vscript for my maps. i dont even tamper with soundscapes. i just rely mostly on ambient_generic and func_tracktrain for sounds. and as for enemy ai i just use base_boss and a ton of brushes although with my map pl_death_factory i hit the edict limit with my conga line of skeletons and had to move the skeletons to another version of the map.
Oh hell naw, Salmon Run in TF2
when is the scream fortress event coming this year?
It varies, but usually the first week or so of October
ok dad.
Can you release these on SFM?
Can someone tell me please how to play zombie infection because I'm pretty new to tf2

i want an autograph
Balls!!!
so wise and true
Remember when people said tf2 is dying/dead?
Yeah uh, nah it fucking ain't
