I once got a sort of full day detention for wearing brown shoes instead of black and refusing to disrupt both mine and my mum's day (I wanted to just go to class and she was at work) over it. Hell the teacher running the detention house (we've got a seperate building for the 'troublemakers' during the day) said I was really well behaved and quiet and that I didn't seem like I needed to be there.
The only time I’m anywhere close to this kind of busybody is when I’m walking around doing stuff on my prep and herd kids back into classes, SPECIFICALLY the new/student-ish teacher the more … spirited kids steamroll. I get some very appreciative stressed half smiles out of him for making my deliveries. Perks of having had that grade of kids last year (and them knowing I’m gonna be annoying about it until they go back to class). I’m the unofficial bathroom guard since we are light on staff that can go into the problem bathrooms.

I went to one school for grades K-4, another for grades 5-8, and then another school for high school. All three schools had dress codes (although there were none in university), but all three of those dress codes allowed flip-flops, except in places where it'd be blatantly dangerous, like gym class, shop class, and science classes on lab days. Oh, and the drama room, because it was all carpeted, and clean socks were mandatory; to aid in the (mostly fruitless) battle against foot odour.

this reminded me of the time that this one thing happened: So basically me and my friends were playing tag round the Harold the giraffe van (or Gerald idk sum like that) that was parked on a basketball court in our school, so anyways we were playing and a teacher come over (I hate her) *we'll call her Mrs Smith because it's a common name and I don't wanna give out her real last name* anyways so Mrs Smith comes over and tells us to stop running around the van or sum like that then looks out me and my friends shoes and says "are those real shoes, there not for school, you need to get some real school shoes" (sum like that idrk) *me and my friend were wearing black converses* so anyways we don't say anything and she js walks away MIND YOU SHE WAS WEARING JANDALS (flip flops whatever u eanna call em) when she walks away I talk to my friend and im like "did she rlly js tell us to get "real school shoes" when she's wearing jandals like tf" so ya also our school says nothing about what type of shoe you have to wear they js have to be black (but like not jandals or slides stuff like that) So uh ya hate her, but js thought I'd share my story!

What is with people against flip flops like ok I go to a trade so I get in certain shops you kinda can't wear them but I'm in culinary arts and wear cowboy boot with rubber soles because I have feet problems and in may and June they make my feet sweat so I bring in flip flops to wear at the end of the day when all of the work is done and everyone says why my dogs are out leave like leave them alone they had a long day and need a nap in the breeze of walking to my dad's shop
