as a now cartrier main i see the problem i used to think that ac were overpowered because all people would do was spam torpedo bombers then i recently found out ( i started a month ago) you could prioritise different sides and that if the team is coordinated ( found out when i played langley for the first time) it is impossible to do anything thats why i tell people on my team to isolate targets and take them out

Until they fix battleships' gun accuracy and destroyers/cruisers "set them on fire" spam ability, ships of the line will stay food for cruisers and carriers. I simply have hard time believing 152/203mm shells that don't penetrate battleship armour can cause so many fires so frequently...

I remember a while ago I was in my tier IV Wyoming when I was attacked by a carrier player who setup his torpedo bombers with the 'Anvil attack' tactic. Two sets of torpedo bombers, one on each side of my port and starboard bow, both squadrons went in simultaneously and gave me a pyramid of torps to the face.
I've seen a lot of ichases' vids, he appears to have a firm grasp on how the game mechanics work for each ship class and makes full effective use of their advantages. Hats off to him, he never ceases to leave me slack-jawed.
I'll not go saying that carrier are overpowered, but I will say that US carriers are OP in comparison to Japanese carriers.

+the sniper Only Fighter squadron's are Jets both in the USN and IJN. The rest are Prop planes.
still Midway is OP. The current CV's. Midway's torpedo spread are much tigther in spacing/spread without enemy AA fire and drop zone is nearer to the circle compared to the IJN's Hakuryu Torpedo Bombers which has wider torpedo spread even without enemy AA firing at them and the drop zone for the torpedo is farther inside the circle meaning you have to commit the torp drops earlier and higher chance of missing specially with the wider torpedo spread..
But right now you can try all Tier 10's on WOWs Public Test which is open Right now for EU servers until Tomorrow.
And Midway is OP as fuck. Whilst Hakuryu got nerfed........ I might upload 2 gameplay's of Hakuryu and Midway to see how "EASY" midway is compared to Hakuryu now.

Midway at the moment with its Torpedo Bombers is like having a DD firing 12 Torpedoes at very close range and getting the kill without getting damaged at all since your Bombers take the brunt of the AA fire.

It's 4 vs 3 and the enemy has one t9, so it kinda makers up for it

Ichase is a beast. No matter what ship he's on. I remember he'd posted another carrier video on his page, before the CV balance. I think he sunk almost the entire team!

This replay is EXACTLY why battleships are a thing of the past and were obsolete before 1943. Aircraft win.

This is an apt demonstration of how strong the old rts carriers are, and I still would much rather have this than what we currently have. Aircraft kills meant something! And I'm definitely salty that the "good" AA on all my cruisers doesn't matter anymore, and hasn't mattered for years.

I have not seen many high tier games, and it was interesting to see how this played out. It seems like the mechanics are trying to make it as realistic as possible, for an arcade game. In reality, it would be rare to see a battleship attacking on its own, and carriers are generally at the centre of their squadron. I guess this could give a huge advantage to effective platoons

I'm glad +iChaseGaming's replay wasn't _just_ sealclubbing stupid battleships. There was enough of that, but that enemy carrier did seem to actually be a challenge. It was a fun game to watch, and congrats +iChaseGaming

The Midway is OP though, it can destroy targets at will even if you have multiple ships grouped up, unless it's a group of Des Moines, something like multiple BB's is not good enough AA to deter any skilled Midway Captain. Sure they'll always go for stragglers but, if there's no stragglers, that doesn't mean that can't still easily score kills.
Jingles, destroyers get easly torpedo or dive bombed by carriers, while Tirpitz at higher tier are always an easy target for carriers.
It should also be noted that the amagi at the start should have seem those TB planes from far off, but continued sailing straight. if you dont sail straight, it's possible to to make less than a full torp load hit you as well as make it harder for the enemy carrier to predict your path.

Best way to avoid air dropped torpedoes is to have awareness that they're coming in the first place, and to turn into them. If someone is auto dropping this screws up the ai, if someone is manual dropping, they'll have to re adjust giving you more time to shoot more down. Furthermore, turning into them reduces the number of hits you take, so taking 1-3 is better than 5 or 6, because of the way the spread branches out, turning away often exposes your ship much like sailing in a straight line. This video highlights what turning away does and how he ended up taking more than if he'd have turned in. Keep in mind, you have to be aware they're coming in the first place or you're as good as dead anyway. Now, ship launched torpedoes are different, the torpedoes are generally launched at much further ranges, so turning away grants your largest survivability against the spread. None of what I just mentioned matters tho, if you don't keep aware of spotted ships and keep that head on a swivel. Also, as mentioned at least 20 times in the video, NEVER SAIL ALONE. There will be times in which you will still be unable to respond appropriately but I hope these tips help!
Pedantic correction to Jingles: *You cannot avoid air based torpedoes in Battleships in HIGH level Games* I avoid them in mid level games all the time. Turn to wards them as you see them approach. It works REALLY well if you are alert!

Watching this again, I guess ichase really had a field day with that MM. Doesn't matter whether or not its US, as long as you're in a Carrier and the match is like this you're gonna be rubbing your hands and grinning evilly.

Jingles has difficulty identifying icebergs. Rule of thumb, Jingles: if it's rocky, it's a rockberg, aka "island".
now, i will agree that he did do a lot of work in that battle, and iChase is an awesome player, but a t10 cv is obviously going to wreck a bunch of t8 bbs.

Ever since the battleship AA nerf, high tier carriers are OP. They balanced tier 8,9 and to BB's with tier 6 and 7 carriers, so when a carrier of the same or similar tier shows up they are dead meat. Even when maneuvering, and even when they have escorts.
I'm beginning to think that War Gaming deliberately introduced a Tier VIII Premium German battleship to act as an analogue to the Lowe. It's living up to the Lowe's reputation quite nicely.

You actually can avoid them, it's just that Chase was launching them in double layers. *That's* the death sentence.
One way to avoid (most) air dropped torpedoes is to turn towards or away from the torpedo bombers when you see them coming towards you. That way they wont get a broadside on you.
I do think the reason you can't/don't try to dodge torpedo bombers is because the minimum range from release point to target for aircraft-dropped torpedoes are too short. There's always no point in avoiding them (unless you are a moderately fast cruiser or a destroyer).
2 years later and still a very entertaining match.
Carrier gameplay is pretty cool with the free camera.

I like it when I meet a very good carrier player because my minotaur build is an AA build. I just sit next to the man push and suddenly there is 0% chance a single torpedo or bomb is dropped.

I think that chase didn't need to have sent the planes before the fire was set, I mean that if he's so skilled with the midway then he would have the skill which allows you to launch planes anyway.
That line also applies to Artillery in world of tanks too lol, only difference being Artillery cannot spot across the map like Carriers can

You can't dodge close torpedo drops from planes , but you can minimize the damage your going to take by turning towards the torps , like instead of 8 torps you can take half of em and doge the other four
Carriers make just as much sense as artillery.
They're just not thought out.
Its not always the fault of the driver of the battleship that he is all by himself on this map. I don't know how many times I have spawned as far as possible from the rest of my team only to have them all drive away from my direction and of course the carrier on the other team knows exactly where to look for me because my team is a mirror of how his team spawned and I have a shitload of planes coming at me before I could ever make it to the rest of my fleet. This map tends to favor high tier CV skippers since the spawns are so broken most of the time on here.
Well anyone who plays WoWs must absolutely see the videos of Ichase, at least the series he's made on the Captains academy!!
A well deserved prize. I am not the best carrier captain out there, frankly just learning my trade, but Chase's videos have been a great help. Awesome game there. :)
