After hearing BBI say that HW3 is what HW2 was always meant to be, and seeing this trailer now, it's very clear that that statement was indeed spot on. This has HW3 written all over it twenty years in advance!

It's a shame the mega station didn't make it into the game, well it kinda did in the intro cinematic. Though With modding it can be brought back, oh and we are pretty well getting the large megalith terrains in HW3, and with LOD management we don't have to worry so much about the performance hit.
Thats the Super Carrier, There are a few mods that bring it back, that Carrier model is in the game still, I used it in my mod the "EX MOD 2.0" The music and just presentation of Homeworld 2 is inspiring. Its a dam shame we dont have another game. I would bet that if all the dev people quit today, formed a company and started a kickstarter project, they would all be making 2x or 3x times what they make now in the first year, and then probably MANY times that in the years after as it sells.
They dont even have to call it Homeworld, just call it Homeplanet. Come up with a new story about some people with a lost past, that develop space fairing culture on a desert type planet, and discover the ruins of a crashed star-ship, which leads to several break-thoughts in nano technology, and space travel. filled with a desire to cross the stars and find where they come from they build a massive star ship. Only there first use of the hyperspace technology is detected... etc. etc. etc.
