My Uncle: Never saw a timer in a gun fight.
Me; You do know that time happens whether a machine is there to measure it or not, right?

EVERY gunfight has a timer, you just don't know what the par time is!

Excellent example of using a specific drill target and changing the course of fire to work on different skills. Modify the drill to work on your weaknesses. It keeps your practice from getting boring and it is fun and rewarding to make up your own drill to fit your needs.

If you don’t think there’s a place to shoot in your area that allows drawing from a holster and shooting faster than 1 round per second, I can almost guarantee you that you’re wrong.
I can almost guarantee that there people in your area who shoot USPSA, IDPA, 3-Gun, Steel Challenge, etc… The people who are middle of the pack and above are shooting SOMEWHERE that allows them to draw and shoot fast.
All you need to do is go to a few local matches, be humble and safe. Once you’ve seen a few of the guys/gals a couple times, privately ask them where they practice. If you’ve been polite, helpful, and safe they’ll tell you where they go to shoot. Hell, they might even invite you to join them.
Does this take effort? Yes, but shooting at an indoor range is soul sucking. It’s not very fun and and you’re extremely limited in what you can do.

Yeah, that's fair, I guess I was just saying if you go to the shooting range they likely won't allow it. But absolutely competition shooting is AMAZING!

@@ASPextra I probably should’ve clarified that this was advice for people watching, not a comment directed at you, John.
Most people who haven’t shot competition don’t realize that the people who do shoot competition need a place where they can do quality training. If someone doesn’t want to continue shooting competitions, they wouldn’t have to, the idea is just to get to know some of the people who do shoot competitively so they’ll feel comfortable sharing their shooting spot with a relative stranger.

I always try to have a spare 9 volt in my shooting bag😎😎

Me too, but dang it I am using my backup bag because my main bag went with a friend along with most of my training magazines for a class he had.

@@ASPextra I switched to rechargeable 9V batteries. It helps with availability since I never think to buy new one when I'm at the store.

And don't forget extra AA's/AAA's for the ear pro. That one has bitten me more often than it should.

I'd edit this video and cut the apology for no timer. Very often, timer use is IMPOSSIBLE because the indoor range has each lane full and everyone is shooting. "No timer" practice may or may not be ideal, but it's often better than "no practice". Yes, John, measuring is good, but it's still possible to work on recoil management, accuracy and administrative handling without a timer. You should do more of this, not less, to help people who can't use a timer.

You know, if the range you're on has divided bays and you set your sensitivity right, you can usually still time your own shots. Not if the bays aren't divided though.

Don’t you just love the trolls that come out on how you so slow (1.08 shot). When I started doing shorts I put up a lot of shooting 10-15 seconds shorts. Or just shooting the 223 with a 22 conversion in it. Oh you can’t do that as there’s no recoil-idiot. Usually when I look at their channel they either have no posts or just 2-3. Plus they usually only have 2-3 followers. I got my first thumbs down (1129 motovlog videos without) doing shorts. 😎😎
