i've seen a number of people talking about 80's nostalgia (in part 1) but these mixes awake something else in me. I'm from the awkward microgeneration between millennials and gen z, knowing my cassette tapes, flip phones, and the rise of dvds. barely a 90's kid, but more like a 90's toddler and the youngest child in my family. it's a weird gap, having so much nostalgia from well-cared-for hand-me-downs but my peers knowing only the brand new. I never felt like I fit in. but this music guides me to a place of nostalgic comfort that i feel like I belong to. the place i belong. thank you for bringing me to the home i never had.
I was born in the micro-generation between Gen X and Millennial (some people call them Xennials). I feel like maybe these "transitional generations" can relate to parts of their cusp generations, but never quite fit in to either. All I know is Vaporwave/Synthwave hits me HARD. If you haven't already, check out some of St. Pepsi's stuff like Private Caller and Cherry Pepsi. Watch their music videos! The feeling is unreal.
Crazy to think I have gone all this time feeling exactly like you do, but never seeing it related this well. Cheers from another 90s toddler with a great appreciation for all the things I was handed down.
I feel like you, even though I'm a bit older (from 1989). I guess the way you are "shaped" into a gen or a microgen has to do with the people you live with. I was also the youngest in my family, the smallest age gap being 5 years or so. Having grown up listening to my very nostalgic dad telling me tales from all the years of his life with honesty, I began to cultivate this feeling. So when I listen to vaporwave, I too find myself. Cheers to you!
92' model here, you explained it in a way I can relate a lot and never understand how to explain this feeling, other genres that hit me the same are citypop, future funk and songs from 90's anime
Thank you for another aural journey into the best years of my Life growing up in the 80s and 90s. Going into a videostore on a Friday night with the family or with friends to rent a movie or a video game cartridge. Or, the sounds of arcade machines coming from a neon or blacklight lit Arcade either in a mall or by the pizza place and laundromat.
I too grew up in the 80s and 90s. Those two decades were like a joyful dream filled with purple sunsets, neon colors and rich imagination. I'm thankful I got to live and see it :)
this whole culture around synthwave and cyberpunk is so amazing. All the artwork and music out there. Cant wait till we see more cars like the Hyundai vison N74 or the cybertruck. Wanna buy such a car one day and then drive around the city at night while listening to synthwave
Thank you for another fantastic mix. I just can’t get enough of breeze bay, right now. It just takes me somewhere else, and it makes sense here in this compilation.
You know what else is nostalgic? Young women's style jeans; sky blue, waist that goes up past the hips, and the ankles showing...everyone wants to look like Sarah Conner. The 1980s have returned! (all the bad parts...). What's next? Shoulder pads?! Good thing this TechNoire is better. ^_^
These comps therapeutically force me to think about shit I've long since stowed away and deal with what emotions they bring. I feel a mixture of everything with these comps as whats lost but what's to come aswell, balance.
I heard 10 seconds of a synthwave song for the first time ever, and I knew immediately I loved and craved it. I was born in 2003, yet I felt such a draw to this "80s nostalgia". Most people call it that, but for me it's not a reminder of the past, but a hope for the future. When I hear this music, I've always imagined a whole different world of analog technology and amazing colors and beauty. Synthwave inspires me to try and make this beauty in my mind real.
When i listen to this music, i feel like i'm visiting the past of all 80s (clothing, pools, vehicle, future, ect.). I wasn't born and grow up in the 80s (2000s), but this music make me feel like i'm IN the 80s and the future. What a good music they're making right now 😊💕🌆🎶
Yes, myself like the era between mid 80s till Y2K. That's kind of like the vaporwave boundaries. Apart from the 60s, as a 80s kid i like this specific 15 yr era
@@OdysseusOfficial I'm writing a computer game as a portfolio item. It's a simple dungeon crawler that's a love letter to games like Ultima: Underworld.
Excellent. No point in me looking for this genre on radio stations, so this mix is introducing me to more superb artists, I already knew about Mitch Murder and Timecop1983, but Cerulean is just lush.Thank you Odysseus!🙌🙌🙌
Can’t believe how much your music has grown over just a few short years. Ive been listening to your music while grinding midterms and homework for college, thx for the great tunes
I lived my pre teen years in the 80s and this brings back the same feelings - Friday night at the mall inside Aladdins Castle arcade playing Mike Tyson's Punchout, sipping on Orange Julius with INXS in my cassette player.
You know how in old movies and shows and stuff old folks homes would have like a victrola or whatever playing like dixieland jazz or some shit they used to dance to during the war so they could sit and try to remember the good old days? This is our version of that.
damn, this is awesome. The background visuals really make me also feel like relaxed. While I'm studying, this is nice, empowering and relaxing music to keep you pumped. I love the nostalgic vide of these tracks. 😎🙏🏻💗
@@OdysseusOfficial I'm not sure the name (something star or space part 2) it had Solace by My Friend; Chronic (Music for Adults); and Rain by Sebjak. It's amazing that you can be nostalgic for a time that you didn't live through.
True
yes.
Theirs an actual word for that specific feeling…can’t remember what it was 🙃

They're incredible. The vibes.
Yo, you're really good at making music! I'm glad I found your music tonight! Will listen more throughout the week! That first song is legit fire. :D

Wow, This is a smoothing thing

But it’s the good kind of hurt tbh.
